Optus Prepaid Free Credit?

Hello.

Optus Prepaid allows you to add extra Credit by doing a "Sim Swap" with another Starter Pack.

I am on the "$2 Daily Plan". If you have are on the Optus Prepaid "$2 Daily Daily" plan with $30 on your account, and buy a new $30 Optus Prepaid Starter Pack, you can do a "Sim Swap" with the "SMS 'MENU' to 9999" method, it adds them up, and you will now have $60 on your account. However, your Expiry Date will not increase - you will only get $30 days.

What happens if you are on any of the other Prepaid Plans and try this; What are the Optus business rules in terms of Sim Swaps?

What happens if I am in the $30 Ultimate Prepaid Plan? Will I get $60 total and 60 more days total to use it?

What happens if I am on the $30 Long Expiry Plan? Will I get $60 and 216 days to use it? (30 days + 186 days)

I wouldn't call them and ask else risk closing the loop. I still feel you could explain this better … I'm interested but so far my understanding is that you could:

Be on $2 Days with $30 in your account. Purchase a $30 Start Pack (for say $10 if you get one on special) and transfer the starter credit to your existing service but the expiry period will not stack?

      Correct.

I know for sure that the Expiry does NOT stack, on the $2 Daily Plan. I've experienced this myself.

But what happens with the other 2x Optus Prepaid Plans? (ie: "Long Expiry" and "Ultimate Prepaid" Plans)

      • "Me2U credit will last only as long as the receiving mobile's existing expiry date" … So maybe you could load up a Long Expiry and use it as a bank transferring credit again using Me2U to another account when you need to.

There are a few "got yas" I can see happening though … their systems may be configured in such a way that you'll get no real tangible benefits. If this is the case I'm thinking you may be able to get the minimum Ultimate and Me2U up to the maximum for less than it would cost to buy the maximum Ultimate plan.

        • I am not talking about ME2U credit!

          Please re-read my OP.

        • @starboy17: I did but that was all I could find. Given your experience thus far it would seem to be inline with Me2U … i.e. expiry did not stack. I'll give it a real crack if I have the means to later though.

      • @starboy17:

If i have an old SIM with $10 credit left and 10 days left until expiry on the Daily Plus Plan and I "SIM swap" with a new $30 starter pack, what will happen ?

As I understand it I use the new SIM but the mobile number will be the one that was attached to the old SIM, is that right ?

        The new credit will be $10 + $30 = $40 right ?

What will be the new expiry date ? It doesn't stack right. Will it be 10 days or 30 days ?

  • This sounds like too much work for me. I would rather sign up for the Optus $30 a month 12gb plan and not worry about it.

  • Hi

I have one question regarding stater kits.

For example:- if i buy 5-10 starter kits (when on special) of optus than can i use it one each every month?

How can i activate it every month?

If i have to ask customer care than will they ask me that why i am using starter kits every month for recharge…

    Thank you!

No point buying multiple starter kits now, since you have to activate within 30 days of purchase
