I am using LTE version, its all right as long as you don't upgrade to the lasted version 10 OS, ipad mini 2 has one huge drawback for having NO touch id and the new OS force you to double click the bloody easy to break home button.. talk about taking away user choice. I am still on iOS 9 right now wand I hate using touch to unlock on my ipad pro 12
I didnt notice any worse performance on the mini 2 i had befor and after i upgraded to ios 10.
It was just the limit ram that cause it to lag and hang. Wasnt a very good ezperiance which is why i sold it amd spent extra for a mini 4.
The $200 price difference and screen replacement cost of the mini 4s is a big deal for me (just for kids use). Mini 4 approx $350 to replace the screen vs $100 for the mini 2.
Ive never bought anything having considering repair cost. Though with kids would be best to get a strong case for it. Idk if otterbox or similar make them for ipad though.
After replacing a couple of screens you soon start looking into the replacement costs. We use Trident Kraken cases and the boys still seem to be able to inflict damage. The joys of having kids.
@poko: probably better to take the ipad away for good or give them the $79 tablet instead. Once the cost of fixing gadgets reaching half its value then better go with other options
@lgacb08: I'm lucky enough to get the screens replaced for $80 (good relationship with my local repair shop), and some of the apps the boys need are only on Apple. Not much gear for special needs gets developed on Android.
Agreed, its very much worth considering the repair cost as there is the apple tax on parts aswell that make them far more costly for newer models. Consider iPhone 6+ vs 6s+ screen replacement costing twice as much. This becomes more important with the frequency of needing repairs due to having kids being complacent with devices etc.
