So your average sparky may not be able to do the install, possibly increasing the price of installation?
They should if they want to tap into the market. It seems like R32 is the more common refrigerants in new systems these days.
As always the install costs are the killer.
What are the installation costs like?
I had one done last year, $800
Good guys charge around $700
My dad's acquaintances charged us $500. I think that's acceptable.
Yeah I got them for $300 bucks off my mate. Such a killer installation for those who don't have contacts.
@2stroksmokr: Damn, could've saved $200 if my dad tried harder making friends :P
Haha. I've got multiple contacts for every trade. Doesn't hurt once in a while sending them a friendly message so when you need something boom! Of course I return the favour.
More than the cost of the unit.
I got one done last year for $500 back to back installation with wall bracket. I had a few quotes around the $600 mark.
Hey mate.. Can you please share installer details if in Sydney? Thanks
Installed one at home last yr, welded the copper to be safe didnt use the bolts. Cos r32 is more flamable so i decided to weld the pipes together. Smooth n cold cost $60 for pipes n rented vacuum pump on gumtree for $20 , total cost $80 + 1.5hrs of work for install, dnt no why those aircon people charge so much.. House was fibro. And the aircon was join direct to the power socket that was next to the location. No need run wires to powerbox only 3.5kw..

I can sorta understand. Air conditioning installation is seasonal work (more likely to get jobs during summer than any other seasons). It's also what they do for a living.
they have more than enough job to do, why lower than rate to compete.
if discounted to $400, sooner or later it will become $800 coz they have to pass the job to their mate keeping only $300 referring fee for themselves.
Except when it comes to warranty they may deny service since it was not installed by a registered installer.
Remember to make sure elect will wire this on a seperate circuit when getting quotes
3.5kw does not need a separate circuit necessarily. Had one installed professionally and separate circuit was not required…normal load is under 1kw.
For my 3.5 two out of three electricians said separate circuit and I prefer it for noise isolation (avoiding clicks pops and flickering lights when the air compressor kicks in)

Awesome! I just bought the 8.5kw version… sucks that its the lowest % off.. but still a good deal
The 2.5kw fujitsu air con is a good deal too!
After cash back its $609
Yep. Looking at buying this for bedroom but hesitant on the last minute. Wondering if a better deal could be reached. Or maybe I'm just wondering if I really need it and should just get dressed faster on the cold mornings.
Anyone else debated the idea of splits in the bedrooms or not?
I was looking at March last year when TGG had the same ebay 20% deal and fujitsu cash back, last year was $569. It's $40 more now. I think it's still quite a good deal. I bought 2 units.
TGG back to back installation for 2.5kw is $650. I'm going to get other licensed installers with cheaper price.
I was quoted $800 for 2, $1100 for 3
Be aware this is unit uses R32 refrigerant. Not all installers are trained/comfortable with these type of systems.
