Kogan Mobile Strange Monthly Renewal System

I am pre paid for a year with Kogan Mobile and it says that my renewal is the 16th of March : "Data renews on 16/03/2017"

I called them to ask why it has NOT renewed and they said it renews at midnight tonight which I said would mean the 17th!!

I said it should have been at Midnight after the 15th which becomes the 16th and the guy said no, it means it ENDS on the 16th… Then why would it say, Renews on 16th?? The guy says he understands my query, but that is not how it works.

Seems strange as with every other telco when it says renews on a certain day then it renews on that day, period.

    it's always been like this mate my telstra prepaid is the same way
    if it says it expires on the 16th that means up untill 11:59:59.

        It renews when it expires and considering it expires on the 16th that would mean the end of the 16th so midnight.
        why would they renew a day before it expires?

    • There is a difference between expiry and renewal. I agree with the OP.

  • The difference can be for some ozbargainers they want to use up all their data allowance at the end of the cycle only to find they have to pay some excess charges per mb for another full day especially if they use up say 1gb the next day thinking the cycle has renewed?

  • So what actually is the problem here? You now know you get rolled over at midnight on the 16th or 17th (or whatever, I lost track). Are you actually missing out on anything here or does the rollover just happen 24 hours later than you were expecting?

    • I ran out of data and was holding out for the renewed date of the 16th, which on the portal specifically states recharge is renewed on the 16th… only to be told that the 16 renewal day really means the 17th. So yes, I was without internet at home and mobile for 24 hours and I missed some important news, emails and NRL scores. It literally felt like the end of the world!

      With virgin it would state renewal is 3rd of every month and on the 2nd at 23:59 it would clock over and renew on the 3rd. But not with Kogan!

  • They should probably state unambiguously -> Renews 23:59:59, 3/Oct/2017, or similar.
    Much like: Vampire Fancy dress party starts at midnight on 3/Oct/2017.
