CYBER

A great camera at a great price. Over $1000 cheaper than local stock if you don't mind buying from dick Smith/Kogan.

Ted's have it for about $500 more if you prefer local stock.

  • Oh man that's annoying. I just purchased a Nikon D750 last night from Ted's Cameras. I am certain that Dick Smith did not have any listings until this morning.

    • +1

      They only got added today.

    • Lucky you, I would never swap my D750 for a D500

      • They have their uses. I run an 810 and 500 combo.
Anything that needs speed and movement the 500 gets the gig.

      • They also listed the D750. Well actually, it's more like they ran out of stock and then they reinstated the listings by changing the quantity.

Decent price for the fastest XQD card around too.

As this is coming from off shore, isn't there likely to be gst, processing fee and duty thrown on top?

    • +1

Says shipped from Melbourne…As they're a registered Australian Business you will only pay the advertised price

      • I mentioned it as I seem to remember complaints about iPhones in the past copping the customs bite but I could be wrong.

      • That's what I would like to know as well.

I understand the whole "supplied by Kogan Australia vs Kogan HK" differentiation. What about Dick Smith? Do they include the GST component on the invoice for an international model that is shipped from Melbourne

      • I hope one of the buyers lets us know what happens and if you are indeed right.

  • Good price, especially if you do not have to pay duty/GST. Camerastore had it for around $2399 with the 20% off if you want genuine AUS stock but looks like they sold out - a little less than Teds.

  • Purchased :)

    • Your gonna love it mate.
Make sure you use fast cards in it.

      • Got the one you suggested above.

        • With that card you'll have no issues.
If you run an SD card as well it's best to make sure it's a fast one as well. I use the SanDisk extreme pro.

    • Your purchase must be the only one so far sold.

When will you know if your going to get slugged customs fees, duty and gst?

I messaged them through eBay but no reply as yet.

      • Still no reply to my eBay message.

        • At no stage throughout the order process did they mention the additional charges. Delivery set between 31 Mar and 7 Apr.

Shipped yesterday. Invoice emailed to me showing a GST component so that answers it.

        • @Woof:
          Thats excellent for you.

          Good one.

I missed out due to not being trusting, however I'd make the same decision again today based on the same amount of info.

I found their feedback, although overall pretty decent, worrying when it came to putting things right.

I guess too, I wasn't entirely sold on the camera body due to its top selling feature, speed, low on my priority list for my photography.

I was interested in it mainly due to being interested in a camera body that enjoyed full compatibility with the AF-P lenses whilst still being able to utilise my AF 135 DC and AF 200 f4 micro.

It ticked the boxes but lost points from me for the lack of flash and despite being a lot dearer than the D7200, only had very small IQ improvements and then only visible at high ISO.

It simply wasn't tempting enough despite being a third off price wise which was extremely attractive.

I'm going to wait to see what the D7200 replacement is like as I can always revisit my decision at a later date.

I remember the D300s came out with some good improvements not that long after the D300 so theres hope for a less rough around the edges model in the future with something better than the current iteration of snap bridge.

Saying that, I admire your leap of faith with regards your purchase and your "Damn the torpedo's" attitude with a couple of grand of moolah.

Hats off to you. Enjoy your new camera.

          Hey Woof,

how was your whole experience of eBay, Dicksmith , Nikon D500 purchase?

No issues or problems or added costs etc?

        • @Rifraf:

All was good - SD card arrived first, body a week later (pretty poor post packaging - thought the d500 box would have been wrapped in some way, and arrived with the box corners slightly smooshed). The XQD actually arrived today, just got email confirmation its at the post office for me to collect.

          No additional charges.

        • @Woof:
          Oh thats good news.

The 20% sale is on again and I'm still trying to get the courage to click the buy now.

Who did you buy your XQD cards through?

If i remember right, when you added the camera to your cart, you immediately saw a gst breakdown within the purchase?

        • @Rifraf:

I got the cards through DSE as well.

Once each item shipped (separately), I was emailed an invoice for the single item with a GST component.

  • Hi Woof,
    Thanks for the speedy response.
