    any reviews on this tv?

  • Almost as cheap as the Viano 55" (which I own) from Big W. May even be the same TV as specs appear similar.

    • How much was the Viano if you don't mind me asking?

      • +1

$419.20 if memory serves correctly. Was one of the cheapest 55" UHD TVs at the time.

        • Awesome thanks! :)

      • +1

Yep. Basically 420$. My Ex got one it's a very decent tv for the price if they are the same

  • Advice please - does it really matter that the speed is only 60Hz?

    • +1

Other than games almost no media goes anywhere near 60Hz never-mind higher, higher than 60Hz refresh rate TV's usually use interpolation to make up for it which always looks crap to me. I would say it's a gimmick unless you're playing PC games at high FPS, which you probably wouldn't do on a TV anyway because of input delay compared to monitors.

      • Appreciated. No games or streaming, just TV broadcasts and playback of files. I suppose it won't play .h265 files? By the time I learnt that ALDI TV did a few months ago, I couldn't find one locally. Opinions please - would I get 5 years' use out of this one?

From a quick google search I found an older deal where someone said no HEVC support. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/258756
It seems their smart TV's do HEVC according the google results, but no mention of it for non-smart. Might have to by a media box for that.
Cheaper TV components on the circuit boards are known to die after a couple years. Usually an easy fix, but something to consider.

    Any comments from owners here?

  • Any good as a monitor?

I had the same question, and running at 4K resolution as a monitor?…Def a cheap alternative. Only 12 Months warranty and 4 star energy but no Power Output rating. BOE Panel? Not sure who that is or how good they are. 6ms response. Be Interesting to see any more feedback. For someone that has glasses - this unit would need to sit at least 1.5m in front and I suspect quite readable. Downfalls of cheap TVs might be - heat generation, speaker hiss also at low volumes, screen bleed or uneven light distribution, poor 4K ability, refresh and Warranty to name a few.

      • yeah, way too big for monitor.
        I'm waiting for a deal on 32"-40"
