Merida City 3.0 Ladies Vintage Style Bike $299 at 99 Bikes (50% off)

30

The Merida City 3.0 bike is 50% off at the mo, which is generally about as cheap as those Reid bikes. Thought it was a reasonable deal.

This is a 3 speed internal hub, basically like a SA or Nexus hub but it is generic, even though it uses Nexus gear shifters. Preferable for a ladies' bike compared to a derailleur, less maintenance, dont have to deal with the chain slipping, etc. Plus the Merida name hopefully counts for something.

  • Nice find. Looks like there are quite a few bike deals going around at the moment. Hopefully there is something for everyone!

    • Yeah, normally I would cast around on Gumtree for a bike, but with these deals I am tempted just to buy new. Even replacing a couple of tires on someone's bike means its not worth buying second hand unless they are willing to give it up for next to nothing.

  • This is a 3 speed internal hub

I want a men's bicycle with this option.
Anyone know of such a thing? … at a similar price (or less)

    • +1

If you're in touch with your feminine side, the larger size of this bike should be okay to ride up to 6 feet in height or so.

Otherwise, you might be out of luck. They have city bikes and commuter bikes with three speed hubs and Nexus/Alfine internal hubs with more gears but at a higher price point I am afraid.

    • Men don't really buy 3-speed bikes, and the 7-speed nexus is a lot more expensive, nevermind the Rohloff.

If you don't like too many gears, get a fixie.

      • Thanks, I looked up what a fixie is. Wikipedia.
Looks good, but doesn't freewheel so too much work for me!

        • It was a joke. You really should want more than 3 gears for most purposes, and 7-speed hub gears are expensive (and heavy).

        • @manic:
          Oh OK. Novice here :)

For the casual bike riding that I have in mind, 3 gears would be enough.
          I want easy to operate.

  • This has been the orice since after boxing day.

We seen these just after boxing day. You can get a very similar bike elsewhere for around $200.

This brand bike is 99 bikes own brand.

    • Sorry to be that guy. Not exactly accurate.

99 bikes is owned by flight centre group. Merida is Taiwanese owned brand with engineering and design done in Germany. Flight centre group also owns advanced traders who imports merida bikes from Taiwan.

For $300 this bike is a good value, and can not be compared to most online bikes.

      • Full alloy frame
      • Shimano 3 speed hubs.
  • For 50% off this must have been $600… Really??
You can create a bargain?? with anything with % off sales.

    • Yes. Its not a made up RRP like some of the stores out there. I have sold countless of these at or around RRP.

    • You don't know how expensive are proper bike shop brand bikes? For $300 you can't even get a kids bike from a bike shop with a proper bike brand on it. Not a chance for an adult bike so this is a good deal.

      • wtfnodeal… I own and ride a proper bike from a proper bike shop… i know they sell good bikes but can also be red hot with their prices.
I feel for the poor people that paid double the price for these…
It looks like this $299 bargain can be had at other shops https://www.bikeexchange.com.au/s/classic-vintage-bikes/meri…
