How do you add games to library without downloading them from play store app on phone?

    • probably an easier way, but if you use an android emulator and register it as a new "device" on your account, you can set any purchase on the website version of the store to download to that "device". then it should be added to your library without being downloaded.

just don't ever use that emulator again, or it will download them all! ;)

    • If using Computer:

      Keep your android device handy.
On computer, purchase/install the app and select the above device as your destination to install. It will display a message saying it will install on that device.
As soon as above message is displayed, you should get a notification of the download progress on phone. Just click the notification, you will be taken to the play store window where you can cancel or stop the download.
If you want to do it for bunch of apps together, you can switch off both WiFi and Mobile Data on mobile device briefly, install all apps from computer, head to mobile phone, switch on WiFi or Mobile Data, head to the play store through notification and stop all of them at once.

      If using Phone:

In play store window of the app/game install, as soon as you click install, a progress bar will appear on the same screen. Just click stop or cross before it finishes downloading. The app won't be downloaded but it will appear in your library under All tab.

      Hope this helps :)

      • ah that's helpful.

I stopped it after I clicked install but couldn't find it in my library so I thought maybe it doesn't count as 'purchased' unless it completely installed

        • Another small thing to notice is that currently it will appear as Free in your library. When the sale ends and prices go back to normal, the status will change to Purchased.

      • I get it to install the games on my old tablet that hasn't seen the light of day for the last 12 months.

I still don't get why I'm expected to pay for a game that has both IAPs AND ads. Call me old-fashioned, I guess.

I'm so tired of these IAPs and ads that I don't bother even downloading free apps anymore. I look for the ones that charge me money for it, and I'll only buy them if they're ad-free and IAP- free.
