Soldering Station

Hey guys, I am after a half decent soldering iron with variable temperature that will get used maybe once a month. Should i cheap out and buy one of these for $27

or spend a bit extra for something that gets hotter and has a digital screen?

Thanks in advance

Temp controlled. Useful for plastic welding too

It looks ok to me. I have this one which I bought for $40 last year and it has served me well.

  • I wouldmt worry about the temp, as long it is hot enough. you normally would only need 400 degrees max. The main thing i would care about is the tip is thin and easy to use.

I have a similar hako rip-off, and it works fine. But I do suggest you get a selection of tips - the thin needle tip that comes with it isn't all that great, especially if you're wanting to look at heavier gauge stuff.

  • Huako, hahaha. But cheap, so I'm tempted too, my old one really needs to be retired.

  • I have two of these, and they are good as my Weller station.

Buy lots of tips on-line, especially the heavier ones.
