I bought a groupon for a relative and I to use for his birthday but he passed away from unforeseen circumstances in last month. I explained to them that I'm not up for using it at this time. I also understand that the voucher stated no refund for change of mind so I asked if they could make an exception for credit instead as it's an extenuating circumstance. This is response I got:

I ask for forgiveness for this. However I can not process any mode of refund for this purchase. If I had an option sure I would have posted that to you.

PM the Groupon Rep, or push their Customer Service. I'm sure there's exceptions to the rule, especially given you're happy to get credit.
