Hire Car Gutter Rash

So just realised on the hirecar i have while my insurance is fixing my old car that it has some gutter rash.

Pretty sure i did it so want to fix it up so i don't cop a massive fee. Wondering if the touchup places which do it for around $150 if they'll be able to detect it and charge me still? Anyone had a similar experience?

Cheers

Looks to me like the kind of damage hire companies file under reasonable wear and tear. But only IMHO.

OTOH, I've had a touch up place do my own car and I'd be hard pressed to even find the spot again! YMMV but some of these outfits are really good.

Yep. I rented a Hertz and at pick-up I noticed the wheels were much worse than the OP's photo. Nothing was marked on the damage diagram and when I mentioned it they replied "oh don't worry about the wheels, we don't care about the wheels"

OP, give your rental car company a call and ask them their policy before getting them repaired

      • Kinda afraid if i call and ask them that they'll then know and check for it and they'll insist they repair with their repairer or something and charge me. It's a smallish company for collision replacement vehicles so wouldn't be hard pressed to find out.

        • Call them and say you're asking for a friend.

          @hashtagbargain:

Yep, or call them and say you're looking to hire a car, but was wondering about their policy regarding the wheels!

        • Well the thing is i don't think they advertise publicly they're not a hirecar company but i think they're just affiliated with some repairers. Probably have only a couple vehicles if that. There's no website or anything.
So yeah can't really ask about hiring one as i don't think people actually can ask to hire one personally.

    Selleys knead it.
    A fine file
    and silver paint.

    • this

don't use spray paint. get a small can of silver paint from supercheap and a fine small artists brush.

    • I'd try DIY on my car but not a vehicle that isn't mine.

      • wrong way of thinking for this scenario.
Not your car you want to dodge it up as cheap as you can
Your own vehicle you want it fixed as best as you can.

Just bit the bullet and called them up and showed them the pictures and they said it was there before thankfully. Well lesson learned i guess always take pics of everything.
I went over the car for a good while with the person when picking it up and i guess i didn't really concentrate on the wheels since it was raining it was just hard to pick up on it.

    • Glad it worked out for you Clinton
