For me, it was $165 more than I'm currently paying with AAMI.

  • Keen to get the $100, but my quote was more than double the quote from Woolworths :(

  • Are they any good if you need to claim?

    • Not sure, but they are the same company as Budget Direct and a few other brands. See http://www.autogeneral.com.au/about-us/ . Therefore, I'd expect that their claims processes are similar, but it would be good to hear from someone who's had a claim with Aus Post insurance.

Yeah, I figured. Not all insurances are equal. I'm with RAC, and every time a piece of fibro-cement fence falls over (2 times while with them), I lodge a claim online, tell them how many metres, and the next day the money is in my bank account. Can't beat that for not wasting my time.
Some of the cheaper insurances agencies are always looking for excuses not to pay out.

  • Any of these insurance have a price beat?

  • I took up this offer a few months ago and my $100 gift card arrived yesterday. Haven't had to claim yet, but one down side is that you can't do anything online (while I think with Budget Direct you can).

The letter that came with the gift card said that I can receive another $100 gift card if I take out car insurance through them as well.

Just keep in mind that comparing just price and excesses alone probably isn't a good idea. Different policies have different inclusions/exclusions, limits etc.
For example, the policy I am currently on covers the situation where a leaking shower base causes damage. The Australia Post insurance does not. I would want to be pretty sure that my bathroom silicon/grout was fully sealed. Another example .. if my house had to be demolished and rebuilt, my current policy covers demolition and debris removal for 20% of the sum insured. The Australia Post insurance covers 10%. I'm sure there are more differences if I keep looking.
Not criticising the deal, just saying that you should be aware of why the price might be cheaper.

    • Exactly - as stated in the post description "please read the Product Disclosure Statement before purchasing this product" to see if this product suits your needs.

beware their $5.6M CEO will no longer work there after July

  • When do you input the code?
I have done a quote but nowhere did it have a space for the code.
Maybe it is after you accept to buy the policy….
Also, cant see where to input specified contents to add special jewellery….
I will try and get AAMI to match it or better it, I think.

    • A mod put the code there. It was an automatic 35% when I got a quote last night

The terms and conditions say you have to use the code to get the Visa card:

Plus, get a $100 Visa Prepaid Gift Card† when you buy a new Gold Home and Contents Insurance policy online, using promo code INSURE

So I added it. The 35% is automatic, although it did not make much difference for me compared to my current insurance. Take insurance discounts with a grain of salt. The visa card is good though.

  • My Quote is 600.— more than my current insurance with Suncorp. Really not interested.

  • almost 50% more than Coles for me…no thx.
