This is 'Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 2', it's thinner than the original (Xiaomi Mi Power Bank) and importantly has QC 2.0. Not to be mistaken for the the 'Xiaomi Mi Power Bank Pro' which has USB-C and is slightly thinner again. This power bank does support QC in both directions.

Specs:

  • 14.1mm thin with Aluminium Alloy housing
  • 10000mAh Li-poly Battery
  • 18W Fast Charging
  • Supports Bidirectional Quick Charge 2.0
  • Input: 5.0V—-2.0A, 9V / 12V
  • Output: 5.1V—-2.4A, 9V / 12V
  • Multi-layer Protection
  • 130 x 71 x 14.1mm
  • 217g

Works out slightly cheaper in USD if you have a credit card that doesn't charge forex fee, otherwise can pay in AUD on the site for not much more.

Update 5/3: Can get it for as little as AU $20.45 using BangGood points from this deal, see this comment.

Just got mine from SS, certainly looks better than the original :) noticably thinner

    • +1

Hey all, I managed to get this for $20.45 not including cashback. How? Complete these surveys (here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/295239 credit to sayter) and by verifying your email address. So thats adds up to 310 points. When i went to purchase it Bangood only let me use 270 points(don't know why) but that still brings the price down to $20.45. Next its cashback i used topcashback which gives me back 6%(Not the highest cashback out there) however i don't know if they give back 6% of the discounted price or the orginal price..Oh and btw the new price showing for me is $24.06(maybe due to the currency?)And thats about it :)

  • Im not sure if anyone can answer this but.. I have a iphone 6 plus and a jbl flip 3.. what size mAh would be recommended to charge these full? (possibly multiple times)

    • +3

Doing a fast Google show that the the iPhone 6 Plus is 2915mAh and the JBL Flip 3 is 3000mAh. This powerbank should be sufficient.

Edit: just wanted to point out that iPhone are not QC2.0 (Quick Charge) compatible, therefore will only charge at normal speed.

      • +6

If you tell yourself that the iPhone charges quicker it seems like they do.
My iPhone charges WAY quicker with anything that has QC 2.0 on it :P
        I know from experience :D

*No accurate testing methods used, just going by "the vibe"

        • To be fair, iPhone has a smaller battery compared to alot of Android Phone that has QC2.0, hence why it charges WAY faster.

        • +1

If we all went by vibes we'd all be living in a commune

        • @sk3iron:
          Sorry, it was a joke.

        • @Hirolol: and clearly i wasnt joking eye roll

      • Keep in mind the powerbanks 10,000 mAh is at 3.85 Volts and USB output is 5V its not as simple as getting 3.3 full charges of a 3000 mAh iPhone battery.

        Good explanation here @ Bangood

    • +2

I have this powerbank. From full it can charge my HTC 10 3000mAh battery to 100% twice and to ~ 70% the third time, with the phone battery at ~ 15-20 % at start

  • +2

Are batteries shipped from overseas still banned? Or is it okay, provided they are under the requirement of battery size?

    • +3

I've order multiple powerbank from Banggood after the "ban" and have got every one of them.

      • +2

me too. always arrive in 2-3 weeks which is reasonable.

    • +3

BG weren't able to ship for 1-2 weeks but that's been long resolved.

      • Ah okay thanks for the reassurance! :)

    • I ordered one 4 and a half months ago.
Just realized it had been that long yesterday and asked for a refund which they gave me.

    • This battery is 38.5Wh, Amps x Voltage, 10A x 3.85V to get the Watt Hours which is how they rate them for shipping. Some packaging requirements for box markings and testing compliance UN T1-T8 and they are okay to Air-Freight.

There are shipping restrictions if the capacity is over 100 Watt Hours, becomes Dangerous Goods Class 9 and cant be shipped on Air Freight. Same rating fro Li-Po and Li-Ion and is generally the same numbers under IATA and US DOT etc.

  • is there a case for this like the older model?
could get a great rubber protector for the older models wwhich work great.

    • +10

Genuine… more pricey and Non-genuine… cheaper

The coupon affiliate6 can take 6% off.

Edit: Scratch that. Non-genuine is $1.28 US at AliExpress

      • Thank you!!!

      • 28-50 days for Delivery? wow that's a lot.

        • For China? Nah. That's generally how long China Post takes.

        • @Clear: Thanks for clearing that up.

      • Is there any real difference between the OEM/Aftermarket?

        • Quality of material usually. Generic wear and tear more easily.

  • thanks! good deal

  • Are they able to ship to Aus?

    • +2

Yes those issues were resolved as clear mentioned, last month deal users reported receiving it after 2 weeks or so.

  • Any one know where to get a replacement cable for the power bank from??, iv noticed from traveling and plunging them in and out non stop makes the cable fail and keep stop/starting charging

    • I've replaced my broken xiaomi cable with a few Tronsmart fast charge cables. They are a little fatter but are great

    • +1

Just a normal USB charge cable, just get a better quality one.

      • and where do i find 15cm usb cables?

        • eBay?

        • +1

          Cablegeek

        • +2

Got some from Geekbuying. Look for tronsmart cable packs with an assortment of lengths.

  • +1

I think it common for cables to fail easily. Cables you carry around are put under more abuse then ones you leave at home hence more likely to fail. My Xiaomi power bank microusb cables last about 1 year.

  • -6

Not enough to charge my phones battery. ; )

Need to get at least 20Ah.

  • +1

This would be my first order with banggood, do I need to worry about tracking numbers or insurance? it's only a few bucks more but I think worth checking here first with everyone

    • +2

No need for any of that, if you don't receive your order or if there was an issue with it they should resolve it (refund/resend) and if they don't then raise a dispute via PayPal to get a refund.

      • cool, thanks for the reply

      • That's not true.. please read my comment at the bottom. I have not yet received a refund, Paypal closed the case saying it was delivered (which I am trying to appeal), the seller refuses to provide an Auspost confirmation signature saying I need to follow up with Auspost and check with my neighbours if they have taken it ! Stay away from these guys !

  • Has anyone got the 20000mah power bank 2 from banggood. Is the size increase worth the price?

  • Does it support passthrough?

  • +1

Do they come with digital verification code to certify that they are genuine Xiaomi power bank?

    • +1

Banggood are selling Genuine Xiaomi, I couldn't locate my old box but you can see in the reviews the pictures of the box contain the sticker with the scratch off verification code. Eg this one.

  • I have one and it looks beautiful.

  • How long do these thing hold their charge if not used?

  • All we need now is a 30000mah version.

    • I just wish they'd put a second USB port so I can charge two things at once.

      • Same. Hanging out for the 20,000mah for that reason.

  • I have never bought from Banggood before. Can anyone verify the authenticity of the Xiaomi power bank sold by them?

    https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.techmesto.com/identify-f…

    • See here. Rest assured of any problems you also have PayPal protection but Banggood have a good reputation and will include authenticity sticker for reassurance I'm sure (someone who has purchased recently might be able to verify also).

      • Thanks. Will place my order today.

    • Bought this from BG a month ago. Confirmed it's genuine via Xiaomi website. Expect 3-4 weeks for delivery. Great power bank highly recommended.

  • Is it worth spending an additional US$4 (US$21.99) to get the CHUWI 10050mAh 18W Two-way Quick Charge QC3.0 Power Bank?

    http://www.banggood.com/CHUWI-M-PB10-10050mAh-Hi-Power-Quick…

    • +1

Not unless you have QC 3.0 devices and don't mind the fatter (but shorter) form factor. You'll also get a bit more juice out of the Xiaomi, seeing as it uses LiHV cells rather than the standard Li-Ion he CHUWI uses.

  • +1

Is it OK to leave these in the car in the hot Aussie summer? I want to keep a powerbank in the glovebox for the odd time my phone runs out of charge.

    • +2

I wouldn't. If this used LiFePo batteries it'd be OK.

Probably best to keep a 12V QC charger in the car for topping up your phone.

    • +1

As I have a few powerbanks, I decided to experiment and leave a powerbank permanently fully charged in my glove box for emergencies.

I have done that with three powerbanks now for one to two years each, all are still working well. They were also Li-poli (1) Sony from the fantastic JB Hifi deal few years ago ( no longer in glove box but still working well ), Kogan slim ( older slim chrome model from 3 years ago no longer in glove box and gave away as gift one year ago in good working order ).

My current glove box spare battery ( Kogan slim black ), in there for nearly two years and still working well. All these batteries don't get used much as they sit there in glove, maybe had four to ten charge/discharge cycles and were in there fully charged for winter and hot summers.

I am sure that doing this reduces the lifespan a bit, maybe even a lot, but as these were not expensive for me the emergency back-up is well woth it. Who knows how long they could last for, I have only had small really cheap power banks fail on me so far.

  • are these legit xiaomi batteries?

    • Yes Banggood are legitimate

  • hmm, I wonder if I can chain a few (10x) of these to make a big battery pack??

  • Ordered 2. I will finally own a powerbank for the first time.

  • Would these be appropriate to power dash cams or other cameras eg. xiaomi yi cam? I noticed that the recommended dash cam battery on a lot of review sites costs hundreds of dollars and I'm not sure why that's necessary?

    • Looks like that is already 12% off, US $5 cheaper than the previous deal from US $42.99 to US $37.99 now.

      • True. Thanks. Darn… I remember back in the day buying Romoss 20000mAh for $37 delivered from gearsbest… (Yes I used it, nearly 4 charges for iPhone 6+)

  • now i just wish Mushtato would come close in price…

  • If you happen to buy anything else from ebay you can get the aust stovk from shopping square for $27 and get it delivered within a week.

  • Which one looks nicer in real life - silver or black? (Only answer if you've seen them both!)

    • +1

I have the 5000mah silver one and just recently got the 10000mah black about 2 weeks ago. It looks almost dark navy in normal lighting.
I've brought both on a trip and it seems the black one gets marks on it much more easily while in my backpack.
The silver one still looks great still considering I've had it much longer and been on many more trips with it.

      • +1

It looks almost dark navy in normal lighting.

Yeah it is blue not really 100% black. I have the navy one and bought another silver one.

        I reckon silver is better.

  • +1

The website pictures dont show any labelling of the capacity, which is something airport security look for when determining whether to confiscate.
Have seen it happen where Sony battery with capacity clearly marked was fine, but no name got banned due to "we dont know it is under the capacity limit".
Do these have any labelling on them somewhere?

  • +1

What is the life of the cells in these things? As in, number of recharges, and months/years?

  • +3

I haven't yet received mine from the sellers previous deal and I'm working with paypal to get a refund. I was initially (on 17th feb) told it was on its way and then later they sent me a Chinese tracking saying I should have received it on 2nd Feb ! I've yet to recover my payment and don't have the power bank.

    • Update - Paypal closed my case saying it was delivered as the seller provided them with a consignment number that was "delivered" - I'm trying to appeal it. The seller refuses to provide me the signature of the person who received it saying I should claim it from Auspost and check with my neighbours if anyone has received it (I live in an apartment block with over a 100 families !). Any ideas ?

      • I think I saw a thread on Whirlpool where people help with this kind of thing.

  • When I go to checkout, it shows a 'tag' symbol. Hold the mouse over it, and it displays: "Coupon is invalid for product with PROMO tag." Does that mean there's no Cashrewards cashback? Or does it mean Banggood's own discount coupons can't be used with products on sale?

Edit: Thinking about it more, it must mean one of these. But the Cashrewards logo is listed with this post, and BagIt said he used Banggood discount coupons!?

Edit 2: Spoke to Banggood livechat. They claim "Coupon is invalid for product with PROMO tag", refers to Banggood coupons, saying: "All coupons are not allowed to be used for product with PROMO tag." So I'm confused how BagIt used a discount coupon.

    • Hey, It's not a discount coupon, I used bangood points. The surveys don't seem to be working for me anymore but you still can get 100 points by verifying your email address and completing your profile. So you still get 1 usd off.

      • One, or both of us, have our wires crossed. ;-p… The cart showed a "Coupon is invalid" tag (like an old fashioned price tag). I think they actually mean: "Coupons cannot be used for items already on sale/promotion" - maybe!?) And so, the site wouldn't allow me to redeem any of the survey points.

No matter, I'll use the points on something else. (If I can find something.)

        • Oh ok, seems like that they changed something. I will try later to see if it still works.

        • @BagIt: If redeeming coupons works, it would void the Cashrewards discount, correct? So if people want use the points, they'd be better off buying something in a separate order anyway??

        • Hey, just tried still working(maybe it's because i am on desktop). On the desktop site at checkout, there is a box at the top right corner which says bangood points. Type in the points you have and press redeem.

        • @BagIt: Ah, who knows what it was about then, lol. Their live chat gave me the impression I typed above. But who knows half the time if they understand what you're asking, or comprehend what they're reply implies for that matter.

  • Just received mine.

Is there anywhere to download English instructions?

Also where do I check the authenticity of the powerbank?

    • That was quick. When was yours shipped?

      • +1

        1st March.

        I was pleasantly surprised. :)

        • +1

Mine was shipped on 06/03, but I normally expect three weeks at best for anything shipped out of Asia to arrive in Perth.

That said, I just checked the tracking page, and the latest tracking entry says it has arrived in Sydney. Just another week for it to travel across the Nullarbor to Perth! :) Can't wait to get mine to try it out! :)

2017-03-15 07:39 SYDNEY NSW, Arrived at facility in destination country

        • @sschen:

Yeah I was ok with 4 weeks haha.

It's so nice to receive parcels.

  • +1

Received mine today. 15 days. I'm happy with that.

  • +1

Mine said arrived Sydney airport 8Mar 12:47pm but still waiting.

Ordered on 28Feb shipped on 1Mar.

    • +1

      Have you received it yet?

Mine just says in Sydney but still haven't received it
"Latest Event — 2017-03-08 12:47 SYDNEY NSW, Arrived at facility in destination country"

      • Not yet.

Auspost said the good with border security.

    • That is a long time.

I ordered mine on 05/03, was shipped the next day on 06/03.

Arrived in Sydney on 15/03, and another week for it to get to Perth on 21/03.

Been using it for just over a week.

Assuming you are in Sydney, I would have thought you should have it at least 2 weeks ago.
