    • Look on YouTube for free (no idea if it works though)

      • Yeah, it can be done, but a lot of stuffing around to save $2.

  • AWESOME PHONE!!

    • I know you were joking, but here are my experiences so far:
      - It is not a smart phone
      - The OS is not enjoyable to use (think Nokia Symbian, with lots of scrolling through menus) and not terribly intuitive (eg. you hold the "disconnect" button for three seconds to switch it on)
      - It does have a WWW Browser, but you can only navigate using arrow keys
      - I managed to unlock mine using an ebay auction - but I bought mine from Woolworths, locked to Telstra

      • i am not joking, with the removal of 2G this is an excellent feature phone. its intuitive UI is comparabl to nokias of the past

exactly why i needed it…Elderly MIL is using an old Samsung SGH flip phone thats about 10 years old. Only uses it to receive calls….and a touch screen would freak her out. Is about to loose 2G…so needed a replacement…this is perfect :)

      • Hi WaywardOne, can you tell me which eBay seller you used to unlock the phone? Thanks

        • Just keep in mind there is a 50% chance that this phone can be unlocked with a cheap code from an unlocking service. From what i've read some have been successfully whilst others including me have not been.

There is the more expensive dc-unlocker method that uses Windows software, USB cable and a Telstra sim card to unlock. This unlock method requires purchase of credits. Around $11 from what i've read.

Alternatively a new unlocked Telstra Cruise can be purchased on ebay for $25.90 delivered.

  • Those who have used it. Does WhatsApp work on this phone. I am looking to get this phone for an elderly relative of mine

    Thanks

    • Not a smart phone…so no app store, no keyboard

Some may find buttons and font size a bit small. Sim difficult to remove.

Also pronounces each button on keypad when pressed which is good. Also includes speaker for hands free.

  • I'm pretty impressed considering the price, two week battery life if you don't use it much!

  • +3

Used to be 9$. How dare they increase the price by 11.11%

  • Thanks. Good replacement phone for my 82 year old grandmother who's 13 year old Nokia finally died.

Heads up for anyone wanting to use this phone with an Aldi SIM - the bastard's locked, so it won't work, even though Aldi uses the Telstra network.

Thanks for advising. People above posted unlock info for a small price.

      • I tried unlocking this phone with two different sellers. Unfortunately they were unable to provide unlock codes so got refund for both.

        • Yeah, there is also this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/229256 seems its not easy to unlock this phone.

@Crownanchor: I didn't find it too hard using an unlock code I got on EBay. Pretty decent phone if you're just after something basic. I've got it connected with Aldimobile.

        • @k23man: Could you provide the link of the unlocker? Thanks.

Can be used to tether computer/laptop to internet via JoinMe Computer Suite for Windows via USB cable.

  • I used this phone for a few months due to a warranty claim on my Nexus, couple of thoughts

    1. It has a browser, but anything more than plain text will crash it due to a lack of RAM

    2. You can download a Java based Facebook app, very handy. Kind of clunky but it works! Need the app open to receive notifications and messages though.

    3. Battery lasts several days

    Not bad for $9!

  • Seems to available only in Frankston VIC for store pick up.

Showing stock in Armadale, WA still as well…but i ordered with delivery for $5.95 to WA.

      • Lucky! It's $14.95 delivery to SE suburbs VIC argghh

  • I'm in the same position as others with the 2G service shutting down, both my parents (80+) need a simple nokia like phone just to make and receive calls, possibly receive and occasional SMS. This sound pretty good.

Since most people discussing this phone are in the same boat, what plans are people using for Grandparent type use (assuming this is phone gets unlocked)? mine only make 2-3 calls a week on their mobile.

Yearly aldi mobile prepaid plan with data turned off at phone

  • can this work as a wifi hotspot?

    • As per peterlong comment above, but it maybe restricted to USB and Windows only. You may need software on the PC for the Wifi.

      • darn that's no good then. I need one which I can insert a sim into when overseas to act as a hotspot.
