This is better with unlimited calls/sms https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/293705

Amaysim have turned to crap. Numerous issues to activate sim starter pack, issues with porting number to them. Can't get through to talk to anyone on the phone. Left us without s phone for a week! Avoid if you can.

    • Happened to me as well, and they even said to me if you want top notch service, maybe I should go to full postpaid service elsewhere (aka like Telstra). Shocking to hear!

If you don't have any issues with your service than amaysim is great.

However , if you do then expect at least 45 minutes and up to 2 - 3 hrs wait till you get to talk to a CSR. Same applies to online chat.

Seems to me that the customer base has increased but they haven't employed enough staff in the call centres to manage CS related issues

Also with 28 day plans , your paying around 1 bill cycle extra per year

Would be good if they allowed data to roll over for up to 1 year though.

Accept when you are promoting them EC, then Amaysim is the greatest thing ever.

    • +1

I was on chat to them yesterday at around 5pm. Wait time was two minutes, nothing to complain about but YMMV.

      • I usually do my call centre calls when I get home, hands free and cold beer while I wait or use PC for chat to the call centre …..You pay for personalised service or wait if you want discounts …..Hence Optus and Telstra shopfronts …..

    • +2

Why would you talk on the phone when you can live chat to someone in 5 minutes wait. This is why I think Amaysim has the best customer service, and you are talking to a real Australian, not some offshore Filipino pseudo-American. Also the app alone lets you self-service 90% of your needs.

    • Amaysim have turned to crap.

Er no they were always crap.

looks cheap but all expires after 28 days even 70gb. i would buy if it expires at least 3 months but not this. not amasing at all.

  • "28 days…previously 30 days." Scam.

    • To add insult to injury, Amaysim even increased the cost by 10 cents. For comparison, the Amaysim plan works out at $10.86 per month. This is from an email I got from Amaysim earlier this week:

"We're making changes to our 1GB Data Plan. From your next renewal after 13 March, your 1GB Data Plan will be rounded up from $9.90 to an even $10. At the same time, the expiry on all our data plans will change from 30 to 28 days."

      • Exactly! Pay more for less!

They removed the 10GB 365 day option, these deals aren't ass good for casual users

  • Much better deals available all around. Definitely not worth it unless you like Amaysim.

  • Heh … so some people must spend 80 bucks a month to make video calls (on the bus), watch PewDiePie being racist and then claim it was a joke so it's your fault for watching (on the bus) and cat videos (on the bus). Unless they really must download games on the bus instead of at home.

What do people use 80GB for? I'd have trouble using it although I'm sure I'd start torrenting on the bus if it was free (screw you Bill Morrow).

    • 🏡 users with slow adsl

    • Netflix HD streaming is 3GB/h.

      4K streaming is 7GB/h.

Netflix only have 79 shows in 4K but guess how many 4K porn is produced every day.

That 70GB is 10 hour 4K porn streaming, approximately 20 minutes per day.

  • By cutting the period from 30 days to 28 days. You are actually paying 13 months of payment in a year. Not a bargain anymore.

Having been with Amaysim for a number of years, it is time to move on. Kogan mobile plan (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/293705) is a true bargain IMO.

    • That's what I did. Got the 12 month discount. In my area however, I find Amaysim faster.

  • 50GB at $65

Was going to say that is really cheap.. I paid $99.95 for 10GB.

Then I realized it expires after 28 days. There's no chance I can use 50GB mobile in 28 days. I can use maybe 10% of that. That's why it's so cheap.

    • Yup, I'm also on 10GB for $99.95 with 365 day expiry. I'll be looking elsewhere when my 365 days are up…

  • -1

seems like they removed these 2 plans

    50GB at $65/28 days
    70GB at $80/28 days

  • +1

I don't really see a spectacular deal here either. I know the more you pay the data scales better, but there have been a lot of recent deals for $40 per month with at least 10GB, and unlimited calls/sms. $35 for just 6GB data on 28 day cycle seems pretty ordinary by comparison.
