  • Cheaper if you just want zinc:

    https://goo.gl/Wo4rrq

    • It is but colourbond has better rust/corrosion protection and looks nicer.

      • I agree that Colorbond looks miles better; Zinc can look really stark, although once it weathers it's not as bad.

But they are both extremely durable, it's not really an issue with either of them.

  • Are these easy to DIY?
Any good YouTube vids on how to install?

    • I built a 6m x 3m mostly by myself recently.

You would need to do flooring first: either concrete slab (preferred) or timber flooring, so that the floor is completely level and you don't want weeds or bugs living in the shed..

The walls are built separately laying metal sheets over each other and then using self tapping screws to lock them in together.

Similarly the roof panels are built the same way.

Then you would probably need 4 people to help you hold up the walls together while you join the edges (I had 3 helpers and it was difficult).

Then you would need to install the arch in the middle (not sure if the small sheds have this), followed by a spar lengthwise. This is when you pretty much square up the shed, and you can tell that it's not square if there's too much resistance installing them.

Now it's time to put up the roof panels. However, I found it incredibly difficult lifting a 6m x 1.6m roof panel with another person. So I disassembled them and installed it sheet by sheet.

Is it a simple process? Yes, it's pretty straight forward.

Is it easy? Only if you have helpers. The more the merrier.

      • Hi ronnknee, did you do the slab by yourself or a professional?
Just wondering if it is hard to do or how much it would cost to do professionally?

        • I did the digging and framing by myself. I then ordered concrete which was like around $500 (I don't actually remember) and had 3 helpers transporting concrete from the truck to the box, and also levelling it. Again, the more helpers, the more tools, the more wheelbarrows the better. Professionally would've cost $2000 I reckon.

      • Thanks! I will probably do a smaller size shed, I will get some helpers :-)

    • Hi there,

You can also check this instructional video link in our website, hope this helps.

Can I ask why the larger sheds are actually cheaper? Is the difference for Colorbond vs High Tensile Steel.

Can I ask why the larger sheds(simplysheds.com.au) are actually cheaper?

Price gouging - they know that people with small backyards must live in a trendy suburb, so they can afford to pay more.

Is the difference for Colorbond vs High Tensile Steel.

Maybe also because the OP is a "Premium" model, and the one you linked to is a "Economy" model.

Gawd knows what the difference is - the website just shows hundreds of seemingly identical sheds, grouped into illogical and unexplained menu groups. Eco sheds, Eco Garden sheds, Eco_Nomy sheds, Eco Grey sheds, Grey sheds, Back Garden sheds, normal Sheds that can be used in the garden, Universal sheds, Workshop sheds, General purpose sheds, Sheds made out of metal, Metal sheds, Metal sheds that don't mention paint but are only available in colours, Grey colorbond sheds (why bother when you can buy a grey metal shed?), Grey Sheds with a peaked roof and 2 doors that open to the left (in 2 groups <3m and >3m), Absco garden sheds, Absco sheds that are totally banned from being used in a garden, Cheap garden sheds that are smaller and more expensive than Premium garden sheds, Brand name grey Economy sheds in the Garden Sheds section but don't have garden in the product title, etc, etc.

So confusing, what a mess. What the hell is the difference between a "shed" and a "garden shed"?

      • Hi Shagaroo, the main difference is Colorbond is Bluescope with 30 year warrant, the High Tensile Steel comes with a 10 year warranty, the sheds are both manufactured at the same place is Brissy, basically you're paying extra for the Bluescope/Colorbond/30 year warranty because it costs the supplier more (this is honestly just my guess since it costs US more so my assumption is it costs them more to produce).

Llama, I have to say thank you. This is some of the best feedback for our "user experience" from our market/customers I've come across. There are some things we're not allowed to use (e.g. Woodland Grey is a Colorbond colour and so we have to call the other sheds "Grey"), but I've been wanting to consolidate some of the areas of the site because it's "too cluttered" imo.

As for the shed vs garden shed, sheds on their own can range from a small thing, up to the gigantic 100m x 100m things you see on farms. So while you and I would call a shed a shed, some people call a big air hanger a shed too (which we don't want to get into/sell).

        Thanks Daniel

        • I've been wanting to consolidate some of the areas of the site because it's "too cluttered" imo.

The main issue is that you don't clearly define the categories. Then you use a dynamic menu where the same item can appear in multiple menu groups.

As for the "garden sheds" thing, you are simply wasting words. And it becomes confusing

It's also totally illogical that you call the longest dimension the "width" - that goes against all normal conventions. A 4m x 2m shed is 4m LONG, it's not 2m long LOL.
