Are they still in business? I haven't been there for like decades !!!

        • +1

Some good pizza hut deals here if you still have one close by, 40% off large pizza or 50% off 2 large pizzas.

Do they still do dine-in buffets?

        • @jv:

Yes! Pizza Hut still has dine in restaurants with delicious a la carte options or the all you can eat buffet complete with pizza, pasta and desserts to tempt you.

          https://www.pizzahut.com.au/dine-in-stores

Very limited locations though and pretty expensive for dinner buffet last I heard.

They have now spent 4.5million bucks in backpays.

      http://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/dominos-retur…

Does that mean now we can buy these $5 pizzas now without feeling guilty or remorse?

      • +2

        Only if you buy 900,000

  • +18

No thanks. Always knew something shady was going on for them to offer such cheap pizzas. I dont want to support these criminals. Id rather pay $18 for a real pizza from a real pizza shop.

    • +7

Our local shop does great, family size pizzas for $15. They are more than twice the size of Domino's and taste way better.

Whose to say real pizza shops aren't criminal too? Who in Brisbane remembers the Big Boot and the rumours of PAL dog food being served up? To be fair, that was Brisbane some 30 odd years ago, so PAL would have been gourmet to us hicks back then.

  • papa johns in glen wav does better job for $8.00.

I rather eat Pizza Hut if i want a cheap pizza. Otherwise i choose to eat Pizza from my local store. Tastes much better.

  • Enjoyed the 50% off code the other day and also immensely enjoyed their chicken carbonara pizza. Top marks to Domino's.

    • +3

      enjoyed their chicken carbonara pizza.

I think you may have bought chicken & feta pizza left over from the day before…

      • Wrong on all fronts dude. I have a pretty sensitive taste buds and I can surely (without fail) tell if the food is fresh or not, and or have been sitting there even for a few minutes.

I still stand by my finding that their "Creamy Chicken Carbona" is choice. Though for the normal price of $15.90, no way I would pay for that and might as well go for the 'authentic stuff' from my local pizza shop, but at half price? We're laughing.

        • surely (without fail)

          Bullshit.

Also you seem unaware that people prefer different tastes to you.

  • +2

With the unethical behaviour uncovered (dogging staff pay by adjusting their timesheet), I won't buy their pizza not until they make it right.

There are plenty pizza outlets to choose from, time to take a stand and make it count

  • I love a good bargain, but as others have mentioned, Domino's underpays and exploits their workers in ways illegal under Australian law. Meanwhile they lean heavily on their franchisees, forcing them to do a lot of Domino's dirty work (like paying people for fewer hours than they've actually worked).

    http://www.smh.com.au/interactive/2017/the-dominos-effect/

    • -3

Domino's isn't underpaying their workers - its franchisees are (Domino's isn't even instructing its franchisees to underpay.). If you read anything from their earnings report this morning you'd see that an insane proportion of their stores are profitable (one of the top rates for franchise profitability).

The pizzas sold at this price remain profitable for franchisees, no issue by me.

      • The pizzas sold at this price remain profitable for franchisees, no issue by me.

You're welcome to make that decision, we all have different priorities. I'm putting the investigative report out there for people who haven't seen it and might not want to give business to a company or franchise that illegally underpays workers.

        • -2

might not want to give business to a company or franchise that illegally underpays workers.

          FTFY.

Look I understand where you're coming from - we're entitled to our own opinions, however this is certainly not worthy of a neg.

        • @blighst: Thanks mate (not pas ag). Guidelines state a neg is valid for "major issue with retailer" - imo this is a major issue, some may disagree.

          Have a good one.

        • @Passa:

I understand that however the point in question isn't getting at ethical issues but rather physical issues (i.e. scams, failure etc.)

By that logic I can downvote every Woolies deal because they're screwing farmers on a daily basis or every McDonalds deal because they're contributing to Australia's obesity issue, every Apple deal because they hire sweatshop workers who may commit suicide etc.

        • +2

@blighst: That's your interpretation of the guidelines. Underpaying workers does damage to my local community and undermines the wages of others. In my mind that is a major issue.

It's duplicitous conduct. Domino's and their franchises are registered Australian businesses and I buy pizza from them assuming they are following Australian law and paying Australian wages. If they're not (which they aren't), imo it's somewhat akin to buying stolen goods without knowing it.

Interesting you mention Woolies and Maccas - both have been implicated in their own scandals of underpaying workers (Woolies, Maccas). We're in a race to the bottom with underpaying workers - the cheap pizza and shit is cool now but we're all gonna lose in the end.

      • -1

An insane amount of stores are profitable because the wages are not being properly paid, and depreciation of tens of thousands of equipment is not taken into account (note the profitability is measured in EBITDA), which franchisees are forced to pay to head office and lastly, owners are working insane hours to be mildly profitable.

Any store that ends up with a profit of just $1 at the end of year would fall under the "profitable store" banner of their half yearly report today.

I read these things for a living, so just offering my interpretation of corporate speak, farted out by professional investor relations.

      • Also, read my other comment about the fact pizzas sold at this price is not profitable for the franchisee. (If the report by Adele is accurate in their pizza costs)

    • -1

Check out mister "I read an article now me know everything"

      • If you think there's something substantively wrong with the investigative report, you're free to call it out mate. Otherwise I think the "know it all" taunt is pretty lame. What else is a report like this for if not for us to read it and talk about it.

        • Because it is a safe guess if you list your personal possessions and when else you use to survive everyday it has the same pedigree as your pizza.

Also how in gods name is boycotting the poor franchise owners going to help them?

        • @Happy501: Everything isn't above criticism just because moral purity is unattainable.

If cheap pizza requires wage theft to hit $5, then Domino's either needs to decrease their profit stake or increase prices. Ideally the market, through consumer behaviour, would enforce this if enough people cared.

I think there is something unethical about knowingly buying from a business breaking Australian law and stealing from their employees, just for cheap take away pizza.

You may feel differently, and that's your prerogative. Thank you for politely engaging with my post this time around.

        • @Passa: > Ideally the market, through consumer behaviour, would enforce this

A neo-liberal fairytale designed to screw workers when ignorant morons started believing it.

  • Interesting that not long after they put on the weekend and holiday surcharge to pay their workers fairly, the underpaying workers scandal comes out?

  • +4

Ozbargain turning into politicalbargain real fast..

I just want to enjoy my cheap pizzas..

If I could afford the others you will definitely see me trying to support the other pizza chains but for now lowest hanging fruit

    Happy Valentine's day ozb

    • I hope it tastes good. All I have been pointing out is when pizza is this cheap, and owners get desperate it's hard to imagine corners not cut on your pizza.

      • +1

Must be just me but I have always liked my dominos over anything else.

The crust is nice and oily fried. Cheese and pepperoni is alright. Good taste good texture.

I mean if I can afford it then yeah the more expensive pizza can sometimes kinda win some pizzas do taste better and are actually sometimes more cheaper than dominos but those times and places are usually in one off places like Leichhardt or Newtown or Newport.

I guess I have just before to comfortable with dominos because of its ease of access which can sometimes not be a good thing..trapped in a bad habit or just trapped.

A fresh hot dominos pizza is definitely larger and better than anything I have tried to make at home in both tastes and flavours.

And it's simple consistent taste has become second nature to me.

        To each their own.

  • Used this tonight in combination with 2 sides for $6. For the first time, it was rubbish. I could barely see the cheese it was that scarce. I guess the manager decided I was getting 40% less pizza :(

    • Better than the worker getting 40% less wage

      • +1

I agree, but dont lure me in with 40% off and give me a bad product.

If they cant afford to run the promos properly I would rather them leave it at full price and give me a decent pizza.

  • code already expired (today is the 16th) - so i don't know about it being extended till 16th

    • Are you using code 955390? It's working here.

VOUCHER: 40% Off Pizzas (Excludes Value Range)

    • I dug up another code 759635 also if you or anyone else have issued with the code in the OP.

      • hmm, both codes say Expired for me, even using incognito mode in Chrome.

        Lemme try Edge

        • You aren't ordering for tomorrow are you? The system won't let you order for a time/date past the expiry of the code, it has to be today before midnight.

        • @hamza23:

Ahhh… that does make sense, yes I am ordering for tomorrow. Thanks!

Grrr… need a code for tomorrow then!

        • @hippo2s:

Yeah you used to be able to order in advance, it was a bit of a glitch so you could use the bigger % off codes on the weekend after they had expired but they changed that a while back.

I'll update this post after midnight if there is a new 40% off code for tomorrow or it might be 35% off. They do 30% off on the weekends (sat/sun) usually but these codes are generally pointless as you can use the $7.95 codes for traditional/chefs best etc. which work out cheaper than 30% almost always.

        • @hamza23:

I do large orders so the stores hates it when I order in the morning (for lunch at work). My typical orders are like 30 pizzas plus wings, so they prefer I order early.

I wonder if I can call the store and ask for a discount….

        • @hippo2s:

Ah I see. Could you use a $7.95 code eg 422446 for chef's best/traditional? I'm not sure what your store usually charges but if it's $12.95 for example then 40% off is $7.77 so you are only paying $0.18 more a pizza with a $7.95 code.

Could try the store, but they might say that discount/codes are done by head office and out of their hands but worth a go.

  • None of the codes are working for my store in North-East NSW, says not accepted by my store. Tried yesterday and today without any luck. Tried clicking on the order "Now" button, and pick up, but no luck.

    955390
    759635

    930096

This 40% off code has a promotion page that is advertised in various social places: https://www.dominos.com.au/offers/sem/pizza-feb2017-c2

I would Facebook Domino's chat and ask them why your store doesn't accept any codes, when you have found this offer advertised and see what they say. All those codes you've listed are public codes and should work everywhere, seems something about your store not accepting codes?

In the meantime does 331544 code work for you? That's 35% off.

      • 331544 does not work and also tried going directly through the link you supplied, but no luck. I will give Facebook a go.

        Thanks for the help.

      • I was trying codes on their site and a window popped out from the side with a 30%off code:

        381270533109

Is that a one off code, not public?

        • +1

Yeah I believe those codes longer than 6 digits are one off codes. Dominos have a generic 30% off code all year round, it's just a question of if there's anything higher (35% 40% or 50% off).

Most also find that it works out cheaper using a $7.95 code than the 30% off code so they aren't usually posted (as pre discount pizza prices for most are $11.95-$13.95, so comes to more than $7.95 with 30% off).

      • I got a response from Dominos Facebook and they just point to their terms and conditions "selected store's only!" No actual reason.

Unfortunately, our terms and conditions state selected store's only! I recommend heading to www.dominos.com.zu/store-finder * to locate the deals you can use at the Byron Bay store!

As the Soup Pizza Nazi says, no pizza for you ;-)

        • that is the store-finder link they gave me and of course does not work…
        • Wow I've never seen such overpriced coupons before. Byron Bay codes

$11 for chefs best whilst other stores get $7.95.
          2 Pizzas & 2 Sides $35 :/

I wonder what it is about that store that made them decide to exclude all coupons and charge such high prices. Hope you have a Pizza Hut or something else decent nearby!

  • Last week on the Dominos site you could get 3 of the better sides for $15! seems to have disappeared now :/

    • +1

Code 89203. 3 premium sides $15. Give that a go.
