    I love the Next Post

That's pretty neat. If I could stomach Macca's, would definitely try.

Wonder if there are any other self-serve tricks like that.

    • +6

There are but they are usually patched within 2-3 days, we've flatout been asked to not come back again if we are going to 'game' their checkout systems.

      • +4

we've flatout been asked to not come back again if we are going to 'game' their checkout systems.

Haha what exactly did they say to you?

        • +15

ACA loves these kind of stories… "battler family banned by McDonalds for using a loophole in THEIR system…UNAUSTRALIAN…NOT CRICKET…FAIR SHAKE OF THE SAUCE BOTTLE" etc etc.

  • oops, sorry resolution makers :)

    • +7

A meal like the would make me tyred

      • I am tyred of your word swapping game

        • Tyred as in one around your waist!

        • +1

@Sir Casm: I wish my waste could fit a tire…

  • +9

I upvote this because why not.

    • +3

      Invalid pos vote.

  • Doesn't that work with all the frozen drinks (as frozen drinks are $1 vs whatever non frozen drinks are)? So really, its because you are buying a cheaper drink?

I used do do similar, replacing the drink in a medium meal with an apple juice (which only come in small size as they are in a bottle).

      Nope
This specific grape slushy is the only one that lowers the cost. I also tried the Blue and Orange flavours too. I made sure to check. I spent 10 minutes playing with it and holding up the queue. You better be grapeful

      • Absolute madman!

      • +1

        Thanks a bunch.

    • +8

My experience when swapping out a soft drink for frozen drink is that you have to pay extra. This is because they subtract the cost of the coke but the charge the full price (not the $1 loose change amount)for the frozen drink. At full price the frozen drink is more expensive. Therefore it has always been better value to add a frozen drink on top instead in place of a soft drink.

    • Going from my experiences with those kiosks (from the customer side, not the employee side), you should at least be able to swap it for another frozen drink flavour at the counter if you ask as they don't always show all the available options for them. That's probably all you'll get without extra cost though

  • +6

You couldn't pay me to drink a grape fanta slushy.. oh I guess you kinda are.

  • Why do I always end up at Maccas MORE when I'm trying to lose weight…..

    • +15

Your wallet is losing weight, so that's a plus?

      • I use CCs, so technically it's the same weight :D

    • +3

Because your urge to save money is greater than your urge to lose weight?

    • Your craving for salt and fat increases dramatically when you're hungry.

Make sure you're not just starving yourself.

    • +1

Do it when they don't HAVE grape flavour.
Then they will just do a substitution for you.

    • +1

It may be the change of hormone when body is in starving mode. The body craves.

  • Thanks OP. Thanks for the calories.

  • +1

It's 5400kJ, not kcal. 5400kcal is roughly 10 Big Macs.

edited for accuracy and to satisfy the ISO measurement units scientist

      • +15

That's not far from my actual job title. :P

        • OCD measurement units scientist?

  • is this nationwide?

  • +2

Ill stick to 10$ for 24 nuggests they got going the frozen fanta crap just isnt my thing

    • +3

you sure you don't want some of that purple drank?

      • LOL

  • -6

Wouldn't eat it if you payed me

    • +4

Ok, but what if somebody did pay you? Save $8.25. Bargain, Ken!

    • +4

McDonalds will be devastated that they didn't win over BargainKen. In fact this might be the end of them…

  • This is a good deal! Has anyone tried any other stores?

  • +4

    Valentine's day dinner sorted.

That grape slushy better get me to third base or I'm asking her to pay up.

    • +2

Mate, I start on fourth base then work my way backwards, seems to end relationships smoothly

      • +1

        Face palm.

That's what I was doing wrong.

  • Remind me of this thread, to lose weight one should give up ozb first :)

  • +3

    $8.25 for McDonald's is a bargain?

    • it kinda is if you get an apple pie and 10 nugget things in it

    • +1

      The Fan Feed Box has:

      Big Mac® OR
      McChicken®

      Regular Hot Fudge Sundae OR
      Apple Pie

      Medium Fries OR
      Garden Salad

      Medium Coke®
      10 Chicken McBites®

So it isn't a bad deal at full price, let alone a $2.70 discount.

      • +3

        hmmm

        fries OR a salad

        such a hard choice…

        • +3

As long as it's a diet coke what ever gose down before it cancels out.

That's what my Maccas manager said who got dumped on Valentine's day.

        • only if they should have "Fried Salad"

  • +1

    I'm lovin it.

  • +1

So basically McDonald pay you to drink that.

  • +2

Maccas will soon be asking themselves why the grape slushies are selling so well.

  • +1

    McGreed

  • +3

Got it for only $8.15 for some reason

    • Bargain!!!

  • +1

Anyone confirmed it works in NSW? I'm hungry…

  • How much do they usually cost?

  • +1

I think the more important thing is that McDonalds has grape Fanta. I have no idea how this has evaded my notice.

  • My local McDonald's doesn't have the grape flavour on the menu. :(

  • +2

Price matching with Officeworks wasn't successful. Hope that helps someone. Not worth the trip. Good deal anyway.

    • What about HN then?

      • Aw, good call! On my way.

        • +1

Stopped at the door because you're one of the Professionals.

  • Going to get my second meal today. I'm excited

  • Haven't been to McD in a while, is it possible to upsize the meal?

  • My local maccas (NSW 2155) removed the fan feed box from their menu. This is what it look like now: http://imgur.com/Cz3ovuu

    • Looks like Macas employees caught wind of the situation and Macas HQ has cleaned it up?

  • The grape fanta drink is not available in my local store.

  • They know!

  • I think its too late, I got stung the full price :(

  • +1

Ahhh bugger. I was hoping to rip off maccas tomorrow

  • +2

We need to use OzB code for these deals…

Replace McD with something else (i.e. McGregor's Small Mc deal etc) so only if you really look you can understand and it goes to the forum so they last longer.

  • +3

Heh. I wonder if businesses periodically check ozbargain for potential kinks in their websites or digital systems, since the bargain hunting community is so much more effective at finding them than their own debug people..

    • +1

Pretty much all major corporations have a social media team. At WW social media they checked whirlpool, reddit, OzBargain and the usual fb+Twitter. Also, Google trends too from what I saw.

  • +5

If I order this meal does the cool aid man show up? Ooohhhh yeaaa..

  • Just tried this at my local Maccas here in Melbourne (not sure if I should mention the specific store) and it still works; I got a $2.80 discount. For some reason though, my friend tried it on a different kiosk and no dice. Unfortunately the sundae machine was down so I got stuck with an apple pie.

  • I just tried, didn't work for me :(

  • Worked for me at North Ryde today at 1pm.

  • Didn't work for me :'(

  • Didn't work for me in the ACT :(

  • Today touchscreens are out of service at North Ryde.

    • Same at Chelsea Heights ….Hmm .

  • Didn't work in Southbank, Victoria
