Doesn't that work with all the frozen drinks (as frozen drinks are $1 vs whatever non frozen drinks are)? So really, its because you are buying a cheaper drink?

My experience when swapping out a soft drink for frozen drink is that you have to pay extra. This is because they subtract the cost of the coke but the charge the full price (not the $1 loose change amount)for the frozen drink. At full price the frozen drink is more expensive. Therefore it has always been better value to add a frozen drink on top instead in place of a soft drink.
Going from my experiences with those kiosks (from the customer side, not the employee side), you should at least be able to swap it for another frozen drink flavour at the counter if you ask as they don't always show all the available options for them. That's probably all you'll get without extra cost though
