weren't you selling these for 399 only a few weeks ago?

  • +4

i dont think people will be satisfied until the price drops to or below 399

    • -3

Your probably right, but we can't keep giving them away for virtually nothing. This is still a great price for people who missed out.

      • +2

Damn, how did I missed out a freebie.

        • +2

I'm assuming david means their profit margin. If they aren't making anything on them, i guess they are virtually giving them away for no loss or gain

        • +1

@ideasman: pretty sure he was joking

    This is not a deal.

    • +11

Not Australian stock. Can't pickup and longer delivery times. Shipping $19 to sydney. Our shipping ~$12. And you are supporting the Australian economy not HK.

      • +2

Its supporting Bose, which is not Australian.
It's supporting your bottom line, as a buyer of Bose good and on selling for profit.
We are a global economy nowadays so buying it in HK, India, wherever its cheaper to buy it, makes sense.
I would understand your argument Rep, if it was Australian made products, made and sold to profit an on seller in Australia, but this is not the case.

        • +2

A plus 1 from me because its a good price compared to local competitors, but would run out the doors if sold cheaper. (Maybe ask your Bose Rep for a quantity buy to lower your buy costs, then pass it on)

        • -1

So you would rather you money leaving the country never to return…Buying from Australian companies it goes back into buying products from other Australian store, supports Australian resturants, pubs, etc. It goes to giving by kid a future… If you think saving $5 by buying from HK is a good investment, what can I say???… Also think about warranty issues. Send them back to HK for repairs? Although Bose is not an Australian company it does employee a lot of Australians who in turn spend their salaries in Australia…

        • +4

@davidchillari: No, I'm happy to pay someone in another country for a global marketplace purchase such as USA owned Bose, most likely made in Asia anyway.
My money supports the technology and not our tax man at the end of the day.
If our kids want jobs they need to create the technology and manufacture it.
Australia would be begging if we didn't sell our resources and products overseas, so it's naive to think that us buying from others sets a precedent to say our economy will crumble.

Warranty can be an issue because of financing the logistics, agreed.

        • +8

@ozy: If I save $5 by buying a USA owned good, I then have $5 to spend at the local pub on Aussie beer.
Seems just as good, if not better for the Aussie economy than just giving $5 to you just for on-selling a foreign product…

        • +1

@NigelTufnel: Solid take on economics right here^^……….
Of course not taking into account the Australian store paying the wages of the person who then buys goods/services from whatever job you have!

        • +2

@Coley: True. I just want an extra $5 to spend at the pub…

        • +1

@davidchillari: Yes if it means I pay less. Money leaving the country is A-OK with me.

        • +5

          @davidchillari:

David, trying to make the average Australian understand the basics of their local economy is nigh on a lost cause.
Most make no connection to the money they have, and what entire chain was required to get it into their pocket. They generally can't make the connection to their income in one way or another existing because of a good or service that was transacted in this country. I only get paid because of Australian retailers like yourself offering the service of selling goods. Without you, my job doesn't exist.
Personally, the only goods I purchase outside of Aus are ones that can't be sourced locally. I like to know that me buying something, helps someone else in Aus be employed, and also help finance our own economy. I like to know that we can fund taxes so I can have a road to drive somewhere, have a school to educate our children, have a public transport system to there, have a hospital to help when required etc…
The myopia exhibited by many and never ceases to amaze me, that they can't make even the most basic connection.

All that aside, you have a great shop and I hope Mel is all better,

      Grey import vs Aus stock

      • Is there a design difference? Serious question as I'd like to know.

        • +1

No design difference, just where the money goes to…

        • +2

          Same as any other product.
          - Warranty returns are usually the biggest concern as you generally have to return it to the country of origin (not Australia) and pay for postage, sometimes in both directions. Genuine Manufacturer Warranty is typically for the country of purchase.
          - No GST included for Grey Import. Items over $1000 you may need to pay GST on the parcel when it arrives in Australia. If under $1000, you can't claim TRS or anything like that as GST was never paid.
          - Some products can be different depending on the country of origin. I.e. Plugs, manual languages etc. Prob not the case for this particular product tho.
          - Support Australian stores with Australian employees vs HK drop shippers

It a general rule that there can be bargains on "Aus Stock" as well as "Grey Import". Comparing a grey import stock with Aus stock is unfair, however both prices can be bargains in their own right. People would generally purchase grey import if they feel the cost saving is worth the risk.

        • @Coley: Thanks Coley, If there is no design difference then Warranty would be my only issue, but from the quality of the Bose product, I'd take my chances.

        • +4

@ozy: Taking the risk for a difference of less then $10 is silly in my opinion, but YMMV.

People who typically go for these headphones do a fair bit of plane travel. Your best bet is to wait for a similar sale to Tuesdays, around the $370 (Aus Stock) and then get them and claim TRS on an upcoming trip (or someone else's). 370 - GST = $336 for Aus stock and full warranty! Bargain!

        • @Coley: It always amazes me the way people talk about the "risk" of not having warranty. Because when you ask the question "is it worth it" another way the answer is yes.

If you take the amount you saved by buying grey import, X, and ask yourself: would I pay X to insure this single item? The answer is usually no because it's crazy. Yet that is what having ACL is in effect doing so why pay for ACL?

If you consistently ignore grey imports over many purchases and pay more for AU stock you will just pay more money overall to avoid the very small risk of the item needing to be payed for again in the event that it breaks.

It hurts when you need to replace an item bought under grey import and have to buy it again. Well I'm assuming it hurts because it's never actually happened to me and that's the problem: stuff just doesn't break that often generally speaking.

        • @Diji1: "the very small risk of the item needing to be payed for again in the event that it breaks."

EXCEPT, I bought the model before this (so warranty has expired), and although they are still usable, all the padding in the ear muffs has broken away. Not buying Bose again. Use ear plugs on a plane and sleep.

    • But you're not paying tax on the grey import and thus if traveling cannot claim gst on the way out of the country.

  • +2

    nah nah too much mate,
under 370 and you have a bargain.

    • if you work at myer it is

  • +1

$415 is still no good - pull it down :-(

    • If you don't think this is a good deal that's fine. How about all the people who missed out on our last deal. We are still the cheapest around with genuine Aussie stock…

  • +5

Gotta laugh. My co-worker just bought a pair for $500 (against my advice), so i've been sending him these links all week to make a point

    • +6

He will tell your his $500 pair is better than this one because it is more expensive.

      • +2

        haha

      • That's stupid. Even the Bose store will drop the price to 450 if you ask. They price match and give your 30 days satisfaction guarantee.

  • I paid $16 less 6 months ago at Myer. Still a great headphones.

  • +4

    https://www.buymac.com.au/product/bose-qc35-quietcomfort-35-…

    Authorised reseller

$419 + cheaper post (looks like flat $9.95)

So if your shipping charge comes to more than $13.95 from Apollo, you're paying too much

  • +7

Thanks OP for the post, keep us across your deals. Completely agree with you on buying Australian supported, rather then Grey import. People continually come onto this site and whine about how they can't get hold of vendor after they've experienced an issue. Personally I prefer a bricks and mortar store so, if there is an issue, I can go camp out next to the cash register and complain until someone decides to help. Projecting my voice takes very little effort at all. Best of luck with the store.

    • +1

Thanks for you vote of confidence.

  • Can I go in-store to buy for the same online price? Or do I have to order it online and request to pick up in-store?

  • +1

Order online (from a computer not a phone) and pickup instore.

  • Other then the wireless is there any difference between this and the QC25?

  • no, other than they are not device dependent. Will work on both Android and Apple devices.

  • Thats really cool david :-)
    +1…….

  • I think buyers are pretty confident in a sub-400 price at this point.

    • overwatch icon.. right? it's cute

      • :)

  • that makes it 340 if you know someone who works at myer

    • How do you get it down to 340 ? Any specific Myer you recommend ?

      • I believe that SimpleRoger's $340 involves getting a staff discount.

        • You can't combine staff discount with price-match. And staff discount for tech products is only 10%. I really want to know how $340 is attainable!

  • Got one from MYER when all headphones were 20 percent off and on top of that staff discount brought the price down to $360. Also the Myer one points equivalent to $8.
    Final price $352… Wohoo

    • could you post a receipt?

      • It was a while ago

  • Wait for the Amex offer to kick in on https://www.videopro.com.au/p-9859-bose-qc35-quiet-comfort-n… and split it over 5 cards. Brings the price down to $337 inc delivery.

  • Ill bite

  • I'm really interested on this now since people here really like it, just wondering can I use a this while running or gym? Like how's the warranty? Let say the headset die due to sweat ( I don't even sweat that much around my ears) will it be covered from the warranty? As I've been using RHA t20i for 2 years now while working out and it's still working great but the wire can be annoying.

    Cheers

  • can I use a this while running or gym?

I wouldn't risk it especially since these are so expensive.

In my experience some headphones will take the beating of being subjected to sweat everyday (your ears get very sweaty with full size headphones) but many just die very fast. You usually start seeing rust and stuff in the speakers.

There's a few decent threads on head-fi about headphones that are good for exercise.

  • Ended up buying 2 for me and the Mrs. That made it free shipping too.

  • I'm interested in these but I'm kinda put off by reports that the sound quality isn't that great…

If I'm forking out 100s for a headphone I expect it to tick all the boxes

    • The sound quality is top notch, you won't be disappointed my man. I've had many different sets of headphones over my time and these are the best by far, they're not professional level but for this price, they're really good!

  • I called up a Bose store and asked about price matching and that I'd seen them online for closer to $400
Customer rep said absolutely! Then had a look at the site and came back with "they aren't an authorised reseller"
But maybe he felt bad about saying absolutely straight away or he had just gotten a work blowie or something,
Because I managed to grab a pair of these for $430 from a Bose Store : )

    • In other news regarding the actual headphones, the vocal greeting/status takes too long if more than one device is synced. "Battery level sixty percent, connecting to phone name, connecting to PC name, connected to PC name" music plays
Using them in the wind is sucks, causes a constant microphone in the wind sound effect solved by covering the microphones, seems at first like a huge oversight? But maybe it's unavoidable.. who knows. I'd bring blue tack for outside use on a windy day. Battery life is great. Have worn for several hours at a time and still comfortable. Leaving them on and connected to my PC but no audio playing they stay on and run flat, with no connection they auto-off appropriately.
      AMA if you want

      • +1

You can turn off the vocal greeting stuff using the Bose Connect app…

    • What a load of rubbish. They shouldn't tell lies if they can't compete. Can you tell me which Bose store said we aren't an authorised reseller? We are have been an authorised reseller for over 45 years. Seems to be a very deceitful way of doing business.

  • I bought the silver colour from Apollo a few days ago. Only took 2 days for delivery. Great service. For a bluetooth headphones, the sound is pretty fantastic. It is extremely comfortable to wear, you can wear it for hours without getting ear fatigue. Highly recommended.

  • seems like the best price currently around for this headset; I'll jump on them as well.

  • So apparently these aren't as comfortable as everyone says!
Bought a pair of these for my husband for Xmas - and he wants to return them.
Says they actually hurt after wearing them for less than an hour.

  • Nope. Seems like there's a gap in the market…
Can't believe they cost that much and still not amazing.

  • Perfect timing. Was looking for it. Thanks.

  • +1

Price matched at Myer at Northland Victoria, no problems. Would've bought it from Apollo but sadly couldnt wait for postage and I dont live in NSW. Thanks

    • Duplicate……..deleted

    • Do you mind upload a picture of your receipt so I can go have a try? Thanks.

      • I did the same thing at Myer Chatswood without any receipt. I showed the deal (ApolloHifi's web page) there on my phone and it just worked. Thanks to venu as I didn't know that Myer did price match. lol

The product itself is just great - works as expected, almost no pain felt on my ears and repetitive heavy noises are significantly gone. There is only one thing disappointing - you can't turn off ANC in wireless mode, which should be able to do so on the street. But it's okay as you can still use wired connection when its power is off. The sound quality is still good for this case and of course no power means no ANC.

        • I think you can turn it off in the app?

      • There was a big sign board in the electronic section at the Myer I went to that states price match. You should have no problems.

Harvey Norman price match only does multi store shops. Myer didn't care.

  • I just got one from Myer Chatswood for $369.
Price Match + Myer gift card (end 26/2) offer(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/291021)
Step1: ask to price match by showing ApolloHifi website.they would offer $399.0 (http://www.apollohifi.com.au/boseqc35-1442.html)
Step2: ask the same staff to get you a $369 myer gift card with offer mentioned above.(easiest way: download the Myer one app and sign up as member and open the offer)
Step 3: make the payment and they will do the rest for you.

  • Do you have thoughts on these vs MDR-1000X?

Also noticed how come nobody but Apple gets the blue version?
