Ok, ordered a pair as comments on the HN post suggested them to use with a digital piano. Hang on, got that because of OzB too!!

Any impressions on these? Sound quality and comfort wise? Haven't read much good on the sound quality front but hopefully some EQ adjustments and amplification will make them usable.
Personally they sound not very good.
though i only have two things to compare two
1. my Bose QC25 which are obviously much better
2. Xiaomi Pistons 3
my $20 pair of Pistons 3 sound much better to me.
and are much louderI used to have a pair of HD 439 which was much better build quality and sounded alot better then these.
Comfort i cant stand them long my bose ive gone well over 12 hours sitting at my computer gaming and watching movies these i cant go through a song.
regret buying these but it's only $38 nothing much to worry about.

agree got the latest model hybrid, they got great mids and highs, bass is just right. Clarity and sound imaging is pretty good!
@homersyd: I would like to see what Xiaomi can do with ANC or over-ears. They seem to make everything else these days, so I'm surprised they haven't moved up yet.
thanks. you saved me $38. if your piston 3 sound much better, my cheapest earbud may also sound much better than the 451. let alone i also have qc25, qc35, ue900, etc etc. actually i just sold my momentum and hd650 a few weeks ago.
I have the Sennheiser HD419 (they sound mediocre, but are very lightweight) and the Panasonic RP-HC200 (which sounds great! but they're uncomfortable to wear). Very tempted by this deal but I think I will hold off….

Bought haha. Went into HN today at midday. After waiting around for ages for a salesperson they then bang away at the computer for 10 minutes to tell me they dont have any stock (yeah, big colour ad in national papers… you will only need 5 in stock). Then tries to convert me to another product.

Unless you need over the ear style, it's clear that these headphones aren't that great. Better in ear and on ear headphones can be had for less money. Why then the 200+ votes? From what I can tell these are just the new model of the old 201s that could be had for $20-30, and in fact with the higher impedance and the above reports are probably a lot quieter
They don't look like 201s at all though. They are circular cans whereas 201 is oval shaped and pretty cheap looking.

Got one today. Will try to answer some questions raised by others.
1) it is not biased to heavy bass like some have suggested.
2) it works on PC audio jack. Tested on Dell laptop.
3) The audio cable is normal so it is replaceable with a longer one.
I was on the fence about purchasing.. Like many others, I probably didn't really need them, and after reading a few of the comments it did deter me slightly…
but for the price, and for someone who has never owned a pair of over the ear headphones (let alone sennheisers) it was a fairly cheap option to both get my feet wet in >$10 headphones, and at the same time not commit to an expensive pair. Cheers nocure and Spackbace 👍🏽If $38.00 was the RRP people would be raving about the bang for buck factor and they'd have a great reputation. But instead everyone was taking cues from reviews offered in a different context.

ANC over-ears at $38 is a bit optimistic. If something was discounted to that price it wouldn't be very good anyway.

No, just that the batch that they were able to sell at that price has gone. They could have others in stock or on their way that were purchased at a higher price. Retail is much more complicated than "you've got it at $x now, so you can sell it at $x tomorrow too".

Not this time. The price was based on their price beat policy against the advertised Harvey Norman deal. They may well be taking a loss, it was sleazy of them to renege once the compeditor price rose back to normal
@banana365: Actually they stated ON BACK ORDER on my order. Then cancelled the order. So this would imply they have just decided NOT to honour the back-order that they originally accepted.
I have now spent 3 days trying to cancel the remainder of my order, because I am not driving to officeworks just to pick up a USB drive and a HDMI cable.

HN called and offer me Panasonic RP-HC200 Noise Cancelling instead with the same price. Rejected it since I'm still hoping to get the Sennheiser from OW, but then got an email from OW that my order will not be honored. The 'bright side is', I am getting my $38 back. Ah well..

Spoke to OW and essentially they said it was a mistake or that the supplier ran out of stock so they need a new supplier which they magically acquired but it's now $99.99.
I will be taking this to the ACCC and suggest everyone do the same.

This is nothing against spackbace and the many amazing deals he posts! However, officeworks cancelled my order this morning and is clearly refusing to give a straight answer (see: suppliers) as to why.
It is their choice to update the pricing, and i even dont have a problem with them changing it back to full price. But backpeddling and calcelling orders once Harvey Norman cand the deal is not acceptable.. especially when there is full priced stock available.

Mine are cancelled too. I'm not overly fussed but am annoyed at the dodginess. I'll probably drop into the store in a week and if they have stock on the shelf I'll insist on them honouring the confirmed sale.
Officeworks has polled out online for $99 now. Hope they will honour for ozbargainers who have bought.
Just got mine. Pretty average, but a bit (A LOT) of EQ works wonders. I've been using Viper4Windows, bumped up the mids a bit, added a touch of treble and used the "Viper X clarity" to bring out a bit more detail. A bit like polishing a turd, but definitely much more enjoyable to listen to. Require a lot of amplification.
So to the people who missed out, you aren't missing much. The only thing making me keep them is the comfort (for me anyway), as I'm only using them for YouTube etc… Can get barely any volume out of them with my Xperia Z2.
their online system (or any other online retailer) should reserve the item before confirming an order. if they failed to do so and I can understand the stock shortage in the real life, a $10 or even $5 compensation store credit will be much better than just a cancellation email. it's like saying to us 'hey, bad luck, take your money back.'

I ordered a box of paper with my order and I managed to get free delivery. The headphones are still listed as back order in my account with an eta of 10-14 days. TBH if they cancel the headphones I won't be too fussed anyway as I got my paper delivered which is what I really needed (and it arrived this afternoon!).
