Ah, sorry - I thought that it would be nice to let people know that SC2 was on special. I saw that people were wondering if SC2 was included, and I thought I'd clarify. Sorry if this is an inappropriate post!

      • +13

SC2 is popular enough that any deals that specifically involves it deserves a separate post of its own. I wouldn't have known about this if you hadn't posted even though I saw the JB post before, so thanks heaps! :)

Thank you for your support delantro! Much appreciated ^^

  • Ehh nevermind

yeah does jb hifi price match their own prices?

    • yea I know it's weird, none of the big stores are on the list :S

    • yeh tell me about it

  • Ehh… I'll wait until he uploads a receipt. It would be a great price if it applies though!

  • lucky i work in crows nest so i'm going stright after work…..

  • $55 sounds pretty sweet. Guess they are trying to smack dicksmith up good.

  • anyone tried to ring jb to see if other stores will price match their own stores?? sounds stupid, but seems illogical if they didnt

    • Usually they don't. Each store is franchised I believe so there has been cases where the store has refused to match the online store prices. The fact that it's a one night sale makes me think if your store isn't participating it's because they don't want to sell products at those prices.

      • Are they franchises? I thought it was centrally managed company

        • +4

I don't think JB Hifi is franchised.
          Hardly Normal is.

          • @megaloman: Harvey Norman u mean?

          • -2

@megaloman: Maybe it's not franchised but I'm pretty certain each store keeps an amount of control over their prices, either way I'm fairly certain they won't price match, EB games might match it though (as long as their close to a store having the sale…)

            • +3

@wartortle: JB is definitely not franchised. However, each store manager keeps control of pricing. You'll see the sales staff carrying around PDAs (especially the sales guys selling high value stuff like TVs) and when you haggle, they'll look at it. The pricing information on the PDA shows the different pricing thresholds and how much margin they have at each level. So for example, there will be a full price, then a discount price, then a "customer pushing me hard price" and a price they can't go under (may be cost price, may not be, its just the min the store manager will allow). The store manager can remotely adjust the prices on the PDAs whenever he wants. In answer to the question, they won't price match a price that is below the manager's minimum. The margins also impacts on the remuneration of the sales person as well, so they are not going to go around giving every customer the minimum price.

  • Great price.
Cant believe someone can do it better than Electronic Dick's $70.

    • -1

lol Hardly Normal and now Electronic Dick?

  • Good deal :)

  • awesome - deal active at Myaree store :)

  • dammit. just got home from buying it at game. 80 with a tshirt. they were slling the shirts for 10 seperately anyway

  • I was over at JB and the stickered price was $89 earlier so i wouldn't be surprised if they remove the $69 sign they've done it with car audio in the past

  • This is ridiculous..no ACT stores :(

They apparently sold barely any copies just to entice people, waste of time

Was at Artarmon Home HQ at 6 when they opened the doors, a few people ran to the PC section, I saw one copy left at the stands out front and grabbed it, turned out to be the last copy. Spent the next hour thinking whether I wanted it, ended up deciding to get it. As the chick at the counter put it through, another guy ran in asking if they had any copies left, was pretty disappointed that there were none left. Gave him my copy, don't think I would have played that much. Got a raffle ticket for my other purchases and ended up winning the major prize of $400 headphones!

    • +3

That's some good karma right there

    • +1

A little off-topic, but I too was in the Artarmon shop to check out laptops & TVs and I must say I was more than a little underwhelmed by the prices for these even after the 15% discounts.

Also, they seemed to be trying hard to fob off some of the display units. And as much as I'm attracted to grubby models covered in finger-prints…

However after wasting all that time checking out non-bargains I did have a wee triumph by getting a 15% discount on a $14 mouse which apparently wasn't really a discount item! Yay!! I'll lie awake tonight thinking about how I'll spend that sucker…maybe an extra litre of petrol tomorrow?

      • I was at the Artarmon shop too at 6pm to pickup some CDs at already discounted prices.

  • On the JB online website its $69 plus the $4 something postage?

Anywhere in Sydney selling for the $55.20??

  • went to supacenta , eos 550d for 1218aud — soooo happyyyyyy

    • You are the guy going with gf right?
I asked you what's the deal you got and you refered to the sales guy. Now you posted on ozbargain :|

  • sold out in preston, vic
    bendigo has 4 copies left.

  • bought COD MW2 for <$60 :)

  • +2

Most likely too late, but was told I could rain-check at the same discounted price. Turns out they found a copy in the back, so I didn't need it. Hope it helps.

  • Narre had heaps of copies, picked up mine from there.

    • yup narre warren plenty of stock there… got one there as well

  • Narre Warren will let you get as many copies as you want…

  • +6

Narre Warren was and is sold out. Sold out around 9pm. The last 7 copies were purchased by one person. He wanted 11 copies but the service girl only had 7 since the rest were on reserve from what I could see.

I felt like the guy had some attitude and he complained about the lack of copies but the service girl dealt with it well. IMO he should have been grateful they still had 7 left to begin with rather than whinge about how the system said they had 100 in stock.

I made my purchase (didn't buy Starcraft) and left. I came back to buy one last game that I forgot to get and when I was paying for it I saw someone collecting his copy of Starcraft that he reserved. I felt good to see that was one copy that dude didn't get.

    • He got 7 copies, and still had the nerve to complain.
      sigh.

  • I know this thread is all for SC2, but did anyone notice anything else that was good with the 20% off? The sale is still going to be on in WA tomorrow, so I can still prepare… my anoos.

  • went to castle hill in NSW at 7pm, they already sold out, I was so pissed off because they said to me they only had 40 copies, sold out in 5mins. I was wondering WTF were they thinking when they have a massive sale on…. took me an hr to get there in peak hr traffic, I feel so stupid making my way there…

    • Yeah sometimes its bs.
I got mine from DSE. $70, arrived on Tue, no hassles.

      • mine arrived 630am tuesday morning. ordered sunday night

    • yeh mate they told they had reserved a copy for me and only came 5 mins late and they had sold out, i reckon they were selling before 6pm.

  • No surprises there.. unless you happened to stumble your way into a JB Hi Fi and were after SC2 but did not mean to go for solely the sale, that's just about the only way you can really get yourself a copy before they all sold out! I'm happy with my $70 purchase with Dick Smith.. less stress getting hold of a copy and the time/petrol wasted to get to a JB Hi Fi probably knocks off that $10 - $15 you're trying to save anyway!

    But good find nonetheless Myocard!

  • Sold out at Northland Homecentre (Preston) at 6:30pm.

  • Picked up my copy at Moore Park last night, they were sold out by about 6:30 but in all fairness from what I could see when I got mine, they did have a lot of stock available, they stated that it was still just flying off the shelf. Guess a 1 day old game for $55 is too much of a bargain, and you can probably find most of them on eBay today =(

  • Picked up mine at Artarmon ~7:30
    Cheers OP.

  • Thank you for this, managed to pick my copy up from the nunawading store. They were sold out by about 6.15, but to be fair there were a LOT of people walking out with it. Also they imposed a limit of 2 per person, which I thought was good, there were a number who got to the counter holding 3 or 4 copies and were told they could only buy 2. Glad they imposed that.

  • Note that this Deal is showing as expired which is not so in WA our stores are holding the Sale tonight(29th) this is due to our restrictive Jurrasic trading laws which wouldn't allow them to open last night :)

    • +1

Dude I think it's cretaceous in the mesozoic. We're not that backward. :)

  • I remember the wrong date. I thought it was shopping night but acctually not.

  • Yeah WA was tonight. I thought Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) was on special for $69 + 20% off was not a bad deal !
