  • Works for me, thanks OP!

Thanks. If I already have a 12 month license, will this extend it?

    • i dont think so, its a 90 days trial

    • Thought I'd note for others that I already had a free 30 day trial and as soon as I clicked on the link in my email (from BitDefender) it automatically reset my trial period to 90 days. I also have a 12 month plan to add to it later on. Hopefully it will be additive as opposed to when I first bought the license.

  • Usually you have to uninstall then reinstall the new download. Sometimes there's a 'complete uninstall utility' on the site. (Not sure if that was bitdefender or another one though.)

  • Google & Mozilla: every AV is shit except Windows Defender (which you're already using if you use Windows).

    • Well behaved

Nothing to do with effectiveness as an AV, just that it doesn't interfere with the browser.

      • The browser is one of the main attack vectors of malware, and increasing its susceptibility to being compromised just defeats the point of having antivirus in the first place. AV is supposed to fix gaps in browser and OS security, but when they inhibit the closing of those gaps, or even add more holes to the system, then they aren't helping.

There are many articles where AV actually introduce holes in the system due to bad programming or to get their work done.

As for the deal, it's only 3 months, typical free trial duration. Not worth bothering about.

  • It didn't work for me!
I uninstalled bitdefender which has 21 days to expire.
    Then installed this new one.

    It is still 21 days!

Strange. Try a different email address/account.

      • I tried your suggestion.
It installed a trial version… expiry date is about one month!
        What is the activation code?!

  • i made a new gmail account.
    it worked.

dots and +'s dont seem to work.

  • Should be posted again as I was about to purchase it but saw the 90 trial so thought best give it a whirl first. https://www.bitdefender.com/site/Facebook/redFreeDownload
