PSA, If you loved the original Dues EX and are trying to get back that Win98SE nostalgia with a modern reboot, this is NOT it. They went in a terrible direction.
Don't take my word for it, scan over the reviews :)

DX Revision is a great high res mod for the original

      • Nice. Haven't played the original in ages, might give it a go with this. Dumb that it seems restricted to Steam though.

Edit: There might be a workaround : http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Revision#Run_without_S…

      • Not really into mods. Every mod that someone has recommended so far has has significant issues that made me regret installing it.

I'm guessing they went in the same direction as the previous game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution… which had great reviews.

      OK, Metacritic: 83%

      Sounds terrible good.

Look at the user vote, users speaks the loudest. MD and MR has good system backbone in place, but a lot of things are not "Deus EX". Just one simple example, why for some reason HR looks more future then DX1 while being the pre-sequel? I suggest watch Ross's Game Dungeon on Deus Ex series(1, IW and HR). You will see how much "Deus EX" got lost in the process

        • If I could edit I would be writing this, also, so I don't write 2 comments, Metacritic is somewhere is seldom go for reviews.

It's a game that's been stripped down for DLC and then possibly abandoned. I'd pay no more than $5.

Good series. If you're into old school games then Deus Ex: GOTY is a real find. The graphics are tough to sit through though but the gameplay is sublime. Up with System Shock 2 as the best late 90s/early 2000s FPS/RPG hybrid. Very good story!

Invisible War is okay. Not great but not bad. Loses a lot of what made the 1st so special.

Human Revolution is excellent. Graphics a little long in the tooth now but an amazing return to form and just a damn fine game.

I can't recomend Mankind Divided. The graphics are amazing but the story is just not there. At all. It feels like reading a book where entire chapters are missing, and the ones that are left are badly written.

The actual gameplay itself is pretty good but without an over riding story arc, it doesn't have enough to keep you going. When I finished it I literally thought 'Is that it? Oh well. At least I bought the season pass so I don't have to buy the DLC to see how it ends'. But no DLC that actually extends the story seems to be coming.

Big let down. Especially after the awesomeness that was Human Revolution.

I had such excitement over the next DX installment, then I played it.

  • Deus Ex 1 and the Human Revolution are both excellent games. I would happily pay $23 for just Human Revolution to be honest. Deus Ex 1 is awesome but unfortunately dated.
