Very nice watch but 45mm is too big for me!

    • What is your wrist size?

      • Slightly under 7cm

        • +1

You have measured the face of your wrist which is bigger than mine & I would wear this watch.
Pilot watches are meant to be oversized in my opinion.

The most common way to measure your wrist size is with a cloth tape so it measures the diameter.
          Mine is 7 inches.

        • Yes the correct way is using the cloth tape and measure the girth of your wrist. It's the same as I usually measure my…

          Nevermind xD

        • @WatchNerd: Just measured and my wrist is 6.5 inches

        • @ltwo: Yeah it's probably too big, what size are you after?

        • @WatchNerd: I only really wear watches around 40mm. 42mm is probably the biggest I own.

        • @ltwo: There are some 40mm and 42mm watches in my eBay post, it's the 2nd link in my description.

I have the AW1360-12H which is a slightly different colour scheme. Very nice watch.

Thanks OP, just bought the Citizen GMT BJ7075-02E for $169.

    • Nice choice

  • Hi OP, I just bougt the Citizen CB3010 - 57E,

But I am not sure if it can receive radio in OZ

    • Nup. Uses time signal towers in Germany, Japan, USA and China.

    • Some people report Melbourne can catch the signals. There is a thread on Whirlpool about them.

I'm waiting for some slim/cheaper GPS watches, which will definitely work

      • Didn't know that. However, if I lived in OZ I still wouldn't buy this watch for the radio controlled feature alone knowing that reception would at best be sporadic.

        • Reasons why I choost the watch are :

          1. simple but with style (Time and Date only, thin)
          2. Accuracy (radio controlled )
          3. light-weight (80g only)
          4. No batttery replace (Eco Drive)
          5. Durable (Sapphire glass, Titanium belt)
        • @John Kelvin:
You have to replace the battery eventually.. Takes around 10+ years before you need to do one though.

        • +2

@John Kelvin: I didn't mean it in a negative way. I think it has great specs and aesthetics.

  • Does this one come with a screw-type crown? I have the Citizen Eco-Drive BU3004-54E, which has a pull-out crown. So when I get my hand out of my jeans pocket, the crown gets stuck, is pulled out and stops the watch.

    • +4

No, it will be a push type crown. Not sure what you are doing with your hands that deep in your pockets that the watch is getting caught though.

      • So I wear my watch on my left hand and therefore the watch's crown faces down. When I put my hand is inside the trousers pocket up to the wrist, the watch, due to its size, is outside of the pocket and the crown slips over the jeans pocket. When I pull out my hand, the crown is (slightly) trapped and hold back by the pocket. But that's the only down-side of the watch. So now I am looking for an Eco-Drive watch with screw-type crown.

        • +2

@WatchNerd: I'm like, 70% sold on the blue version already, especially when its lume is also blue, which is different from the "standard" green luminescence. The Seiko ones are of course nice too, but (2) problems for me: one is I'd much prefer non-metal watch bands, and two is the automatic movement. I currently rotate between 4 watches so I'm not sure one with automatic movement would get enough wrist time until I want to wear it. Having said that I have not owned a watch with automatic movement so I really do not know much.

On the other hand, Citizen Eco-drive is pretty much hassle-free. I have the BV1085-14E bought on one of your posts last year and so far so good - it keeps time well and I know I don't have to worry about the battery. I nearly pulled the trigger on the Casio MDV106-1AV you posted (before Christmas?) but I then decided against it. The Citizen Promaster BN0150-28E would likely be my first diver's watch, but I'm in no hurry. Within that price range, I'd have many options. Even the specs on a no-brand (Chinese?) "Corgeut" 41mm automatic diver w/ sapphire is so tempting for the price

@PJC: Classy! I don't know much about watches but aesthetically it does look elegant and appealing with the simple two-tone. 39mm is a good size and sapphire crystal is awesome. Personally I'm not sure when I am able to pull off a watch with such class though. Maybe in 20 years' time :)

        • +2

@sky blu: I'll take that as a compliment. It's not the one Commissioner Gordon gave me because sometimes I travel incognito. I told my wife it was her belated birthday gift to me. I picked up a more casual watch for $40 in October:-
          https://www.amazon.com/Claude-Bernard-70173-37NCA-Stainless/…

Your BV1085-14E is superb and I recall getting tempted by a similar Eco-Drive. Your reason for avoiding automatic movements echoes my own. Some people buy an automatic winding box but I dislike the notion. My best watch is leaning on my monitor, made 1890 - 1895 by the company now named Zenith. My father kept it in an old box for many years and last year I bought some winding keys. It worked first time. That watch had done nothing for at least 50 years!

        • +2

@PJC: It sounds like you are building quiet a collection, I have never heard of Alfex so can't comment. As long as you like it, that's all that matters.

You & @sky blu will buy automatic watches sooner or later because you both have the same problem as me. I don't mind my Seiko SKX007 stopping when I'm not wearing it because it means there is no wear or tear on the movement, so it will last a lifetime. And it only takes a minute to set the time.

The Corgeut looks nice, I love the coin edge bezel. There is a Dive Watch Forum on Watchuseek.
And a thread devoted entirely to blue dive watches

        • @WatchNerd: > will buy automatic watches sooner or later

I suppose that may yet happen, even though I am resistant to change. That SKX007's bezel is impressive and I envy the day and date.

        • +2

@sky blu: Thanks a lot for the link! I had the watch already in the basket, but $52.00 shipping spoilt it for me. I'll keep an eye out for OZ stock, though.

  • These cheap watches tend to scratch easy.

    • +1

I wouldn't call these watches cheap, Skmei are cheap at around $10.00, but still great for what you pay.

I bought the Citizen Eco-Drive BM6401-07E in August 2015 & it still looks brand new, I don't wear it to work on building sites though.
This model appears to be discontinued which is crazy.

  • I gacve one of these to my boy when this was posted last time. He wore it for a about 6 mths which is when the crown broke clean off. I don't know if my boy was super rough with it, but the glass also got super scratched.

It still works, its just not worth fixing.

    • I don't know if my boy was super rough with it, but the glass also got super scratched.

It sounds like he was. Maybe get him a G-Shock or cheap Skmei if he is rough with watches.
Then when the Skmei breaks buy another one.
Here is the Sanda version of the Skmei 1134 in large or small for $7.19 Shipped.

  • Hi all, can I use NATO straps with this watch?

    • +2

Yes, of course you can. Just get the straps with 20mm width.
