Vintage Ladies Classic Plus Bicycle $199.99 from Reid Cycles (7 Speed, Free Delivery, Front Basket Not Included)

160

Just received an email from Reid titled "We almost never do this" with $50 off their Vintage Ladies Classic Plus bike at $199.99 delivered.

  • A beautifully designed step-through frame for comfort and style.
  • Colour matched fenders, chain-guard and rear rack for the complete look.
  • A comfy seat and upright riding position for a smooth ride in an ergonomic position.
  • 7-gears for even easier riding.
  • FUN and great memories guaranteed.

Vintage Ladies Classic Plus might be a new product, as the old single-speed Vintage Ladies Classic is no longer on the website (usually going for $150 during sale). Vintage Ladies Royale (that are also sometimes on sale at $199) appear to have taller handlebar for more upright riding position. So "almost never do this" might be just because it's a newer/updated product.

FUN and great memories mammaries guaranteed.

    would sell more bikes…

    • Mammaries bring all the boys to the yard

    • JV, you made me have a flashback to this

  • Just beware this bike will be heavy as it's pretty much all steel.

You could easily buy a lot better second hand.

There are always workarounds for that…

      • I fixed one up just like this that had been left outside. There was rust on the handlebars, cranks, spokes and it was starting to come through the paintwork on the frame a bit. The seatpost was seized from the rust also.

    • steel is good.
      Though It rusts.

        not stainless steel…

        • Stainless steel does rust, it doesn't stain… easily.

There's a huge variety in the quality of ss.
I'm pretty sure the ss on Reid bikes rust pretty easily

          Have you tested it?

        • @jv: oh jv, jv… Have YOU tested ALL of them, can't handle losing an argument over an open statement can you.

        • @ozf1:

I assume the answer is NO then.

        • @jv: You know what they say, When you assume you make an ass of you…

not a bad deal but I'm pretty sure I've seen this deal often come up at Reid Cycles.

I hope the frame is step-over rather than 'step-through'. Looks like a tight squeeze.

I hear it's commonly done overseas - some weird fad like the ice bucket challenge!

  • for what it's worth, my wife has one of these and she loves it. not the best build quality, but certainly not the worst - and a very wife-pleasig range of colours.

  • I nearly bought one of this early lat year for my daughter, the bike style has its charms IMO. However after spending sometime on the Velodrome at Packer Park in Glen Iera (on a 20 year old, but very well looked after Apollo Hybrid with road tyres), I decided to save up and get her something more 'proper' and versatile. She's about to grow out of her Current Apollo mountain bike (24"), so i'll be researching what to buy soon, something along the lines of -Google search "best bicycles under $750.00 AUD".

Any suggestions from knowledgeable folk about a decent bike around this price for a casual rider she's 6 feet tall and around 65Kg.

    • @ ozf1. Your options are to get a entry level road or commuter bike for your daughter.

If she wants a road bike, then 2ndeffort has some good suggestions here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/284411. However it appears that these start from $850 which is a little more than what you probably had in mind.

I am not so familiar with the commuter bikes but I am sure that your local bike store can help you.

If you decide to get a Cannondale, you can also redeem a Cannondale pack with some bits and pieces (bag, pump, cap etc). https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/290288

      • Cheers, Yeah, my budget was $500.00 but trying to stretch out to t he $750.00 max. We actually went and briefly looked at some Apollo bikes at Williamstown(John's Cycling newport actually, crappy website) today. Thanks again.
