$65/mth - 70GB

Cheers, Ian

    • Hi there, appreciate the feedback. You won't be able to make or receive calls as it is a data-only SIM.

      • thanks
        that's a pity
data-only SIM does not imply that you can't receive calls.
All SIMs have a phone number and I've always been able to receive calls on my Telstra Data SIMs

      • That's a shame. I'd try it if I could make/receive calls/SMSs (even if PAYG call/SMS rates are more expensive than normal plans).

  • I've been a Vaya member in the past (moved across to optus as it was cheaper to get new handset + plan than buy handset outright) and recently put my father onto Vaya and never had any issues, easy online activation and the sim arrived within 7 days.

It's unfortunate that some people have had bad experiences, and many online aggregated reviews do paint a rather negative picture of Vaya (with a level of bias as you're more likely to post negative experiences rather than positive ones).

Perhaps some people expect to pay $20 and get the same level of customer care as if they paid $100. One could get into a philosophical discussion if companies should strive for first class customer service regardless of the amount paid, but as long as your expectations and requirements are realistic I think one finds Vaya plans very economical and budget friendly (cheap and cheerful).

Even if for whatever reason you don't like them, they are promoting healthy competition which we all benefit from.

    • I have since moved on to other providers who are slightly dearer than Vaya. Difference is, the costs are clear and if anything if amiss, they recognise the mistake and fix it up immediately.

The problem with Vaya isn't barebones customer service, you'd expect that from cheaper telcos. What's gotten so many people fed up with Vaya is a lot of erroneous charges on the bill and customer service are either inadequately trained, or trained not to correct those charges until you get very angry with them and/or get the TIO involved.

    No deal!

Why bother when you can get 200GB for $80 on the exact same network.

      Not even the same tier.
Someone might not want to spend $80 in one month in a data only sim, or might not need 200GB.
      Different offerings!

2300MHz only. Capped at 12/1. Vivid wireless has the same as Optus, but unlimited for $89

  • Any speed cap?

    • Hi there,

All our plans are powered by the Optus 4G Plus Network. You’ll get identical coverage/speed to an Optus customer. Feel free to check out the coverage map for more on this https://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Coverage-Maps

    • read the thread dude

  • Hi Rep,

Will I be able to insert the data sim and use it on a Huawei mobile broadband modem?

    • Hi there,

Yes you can. Just be conscious though that if you are purchasing it from Telstra or Vodafone, they may lock it to their network, in which case a Vaya SIM may not work.

      • Rep,

I have got an optus huawei e5573. Will that work?

        • Hi again, yes it will.

  • +1

I would not use vaya again unless they were free

    • What happened?

      • When I originally signed up I ordered my sim, no confirmation screen or email came up so I pressed the button again, low and behold I get charged twice and receive 2x sim cards, both for same number mind you….
I contact to return it for a refund and mail it from the university post office, according to vaya they never receive the mail… From one suburb of Brisbane to another it gets lost, yes it's plausible with aus post, but really I know it's their piss poor service, I'm guessing noone knew why it was returned and they threw it out. Not to mention the $20 security deposit they introduced half way through the contract and you had to squeeze a stone to get back from them, Also shitty data usage calculations. Yes, I was not satisfied with vaya services and have since moved onto optus who I am more than happy with.

I wouldn't even touch Vaya even if they were free

  • If we were already on the 5 gig for $25 plan, will it automatically change to the new pricing?

    • Hi there,

No it won't. You will have to change plans. You can change plans by contacting us https://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Contact-Us and requesting a plan change.

      Cheers, Ian

      • MENTION THE $5 PLAN CHANGE FEE, are you trying to be sneaky around the plan changes?

  • Wish there was something in between 5GB/$15 and 15GB/$35..

    Nice deal nonetheless :)

  • People should read on Whirlpool before making a decision. I recently did and was shocked how bad Vaya and another 1 or 2 companies I forget the name of atm are with billing. So I went with Jeenee instead. Very frustrating too - because I wanted the Vaya plan I was looking at, but it wasn't worth the frustration.

  • Any chance for Student discount like other providers?

  • Any chance for Student discount like other providers?

  • Have been with vaya for about a month and half now. Best deal ever and it is working flawlessly, but 70gb is really not enough. I wonder if there is a way I can add additional 30gb to my monthly quota without having another simcard or paying $10 for every 1gb?

    • Hi jezza p,

Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear things are running smoothly! Re an additional 30GB, unfortunately there is no way currently to do this without purchasing another SIM. I will let you know if this changes in the future. If you have any other questions, then feel free to ask away.

  • Hi Ian,

What should be the setting on Huawei E5573 to get this up and running?
