That ebay link is $26.99 for just one ratchet. Maybe fair comparison on quality, but all three sizes are handy and a single 1/2 inch you linked is not suitable or at times even usable for smaller jobs like in the engine bay.
To buy a set of three that you linked to looks like it would cost $71.50, and isn't backed by no questions lifetime warranty at a local brick and mortar store.50% off Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 5 Litre $22.99
https://d3i63g6yqk8ui8.cloudfront.net/imageicon/rep/prod/j00…I know, I was complimenting the probable quality of the repco ratchets supposing they are the same as (or at least good clones of) the ebay ones.
Are these nitrile gloves the ones mechanics use? Never used one of these before, but do you get proper feeling with these?
Depends on the mechanic. These are similar to regular latex gloves (thin, stretchy) except they are impervious to most chemicals meaning oils/fuels/other chemicals from you car won't deteriorate them. A regular glove will disintegrate in seconds once you get oil/fuel on it.
Ahh no wonder the white ones I had just got holes as soon as I did anything mechanical with them. Cheers will give this one a go!
The gloves are good if you don't want to leave finger prints.
Confucius say, man under car playing with tool, not necessarily mechanic
can anyone explain what "lifetime Warranty" means? Whose Lifetime are they talking about?
Basically forever, you don't require a receipt to claim warranty.
Instant swap if stock is available, no questions asked.
so in 50 years time, just bring them back to Repco and they'll exchange it for you?
Obviously can't say anything about 50 years time. But I took a 3/8 ratchet I got in 1995 back to Repco last month. Didn't have its equivalent in stock, but they ordered one in and 2 days later I had a new one no questions asked. I'm sure they'll be happy to do it again in another 20 years if needed.
It is the lifetime of the tool.
How long would you expect a tool used daily at this price to last for if not abused ?Normally if it has life time warranty it's the manufacturers way of testifying that thier tools are great quality .
But I'd be still asking for warranty in 20 years time if it means I don't have to buy a new one .
Hence the reason 90% of my hand tools are snap on. - pay a premium upfront and get back up service for years to come
Wrenches look the same as this one (and it's 1/4" brother) I got, wouldn't be surprised if they're the same wrench just different packaging. Very good quality for the price and the sliding direction changer is convenient, however make sure you have good sockets to match as cheap ones will fail long before the wrench does.
Gloves are good however they were $2.40/box a month or so ago. Nice and thick however I bought a size too large, keep in mind the black colour can hide the fact they're dirty so think before touching something clean.
