At the risk of sounding overly pessimistic, I think the saying "jack of all trades, master of none" might apply here…
I don't think combining toast and hot plate together is a good idea. The fat from hot plate goes everywhere and it will be hard to clean. Plus smoking issue.
Agreed, we all know how frustrating it is trying to clean toasted sandwich makers etc with non removable cooking plates….this would be a nightmare. I can't believe 500 people have bought one of these things.
Clean them when hot with wet paper towel, then if ocd use food safe sanitiser on it. (food safe ones will have no color no smells or flavor at correct dilution.)
Maybe they bought it as a gift for someone else and so the potential cleaning hassles are none of their concern?

An avarage toaster uses as much electricity as a full oven for the time its on, add to that a grill, I doubt your avg cheapy power board would like this appliance.
