I think they would feel betrayed.
Shows the sales of these batteries were performing well
Thanks OP but none of these are alkaline. I'm surprised it is still legal to make them.
Why would it be illegal to make them? Are you thinking of the old style rechargeable cells that have Cadmium?
No. These end up in the bin quicker than any other battery. Alkaline end up there too, obviously, but they last longer.
They have their place in low-drain applications. Their volume in landfill is only one part of the total impact.
@octagonalman: You should take in account the volume of those low-drain applications ending up in landfill because of battery leak as well.
Yes, good point. The site below claims that "Alkalines leak more frequently than any other kind of battery."
used them in my inflatable mattress that takes 4D cells, works fine saved my paying what $5 each for them elsewhere. Bought these when they were $2!! I feel gipped.
Carbon zinc are pretty rubbish but for D cell or lantern battery that would be ok.
Do not use the 9v for smoke alarms though.
It didnt work well in my smoke alarms. Mist of picked up a bad batch.
The entire batch is bad.
DO NOT use these for smoke alarms. Don't risk your life with a cheap battery!
Absolutely correct.
Great for kids toys.
Well sure. If it's an annoying kids toy you want to ruin with a battery that leaks. Those ones that make annoying noises maybe?
6 pack
Are these on clearance in all stores nationwide?
Yep
The lantern batteries (GE4R25) are good for hobby stuff. Easy to get the alligator clips around the spring terminals and not having to worry about low battery protection. There's about 10 left (two-packs) at Chadstone, VIC with a claimed best before of 12/2019.
Damn…if only they were them rechargeable Ni-Mh ones…… :P
Sorry my eneloops wont approve.. dont want to hurt their feelings…
