It's $30 everyday at BWS's and you get staff discount there as well for those that can.

Not much of a deal tbh.

    • Sacré bleu !! I can't compete with 'Staff Discount', however with my 7% discounted e-gift card, and cashback, I am happy with $27 per slab!

      • Staf discount is 5%.

Not as amazing as initially thought Peck!

But its worth it to see the happiness on your mates faces when after a hot, hard days work, you open your fridge and shout them a ….Hollandia…

I actually think it's a decent drink. It's not a full flavoured beer, but on a hot day - if it's cold, it's brilliant.

Agree, a decent cheapie, great to wash down spicy food. Don't see the deal here. This is the normal price for it at my local DMs.

      • I've never tried it for reason "what can it taste like at that price" but it seems it might be worth trying as there are no negative comments in regards for flavour at this price.

        • Bought some the other day and wasnt expecting much. Quite like it.

        • it's not a bad drop, usual euro lager/pilsner (but less flavour). Certainly tastier then the cheap aussie stuff.

IMHO the Oetinger is nicer (Pilsner with plenty of saaz hops) or if you have Aldi around try the Fraser Briggs, it's a kiwi made Boags Premium knock off for ~$33/slab which is excellent value.

@supabrudda: aldi beer - i'd suggest the Rivet blue. made in vietnam. it's a very unpretentious beer. a simple lager. if your only drink craft beers then the first 1 or 2 will make you question your decision to drink it, however you should enjoy it for its simple taste.

        • @altomic: I'll grab a slab next week & give it a try. Thanks for the tip! Loved a 9am Bia hơi in Hanoi

I had a pommy mate who came out years ago & was a beer snob. "Lager isn't beer", "real beer is served at 14oC", sort of crap. Anyway I suggested that sometimes you just want a cold beer in the heat. anyway we went for a drive up to FNQ…about 3 days into the trip we were having a beer (prob XXXX) and he admitted, you're right, it's stinking f'ing hot & this icy cold lager is just lovely! Don't tell my mates.

        • @altomic: I must thank you, its quite good. Perfect lawn mower lager or beer on a hot day.

You can get it pressin' a suit
A hard earned thirst needs a big cold beer
And the best cold beer's …HOLLANDIA
      A LONG COLD …HOLLANDIA
      You can get it liftin'
      You can get it shiftin'
You can get it any old how

  • OK I withdraw my Original Post !

  • As someone who used to live in the Netherlands, I can tell you, this is Dutch equivalent of Fosters. Hardly anyone touches it there. Beer also happens to be incredibly cheap there compared to here (including Belgian beers), but that's a totally different story!

    • Hollandia and Fraser Briggs are OK.
Taxes are ugly, you can get a Coopers/Bunnings bucket and make your own.

    • Funny that. My daughter's Dutch bf had never heard of it and we couldn't find it anywhere in The Netherlands in 2012. He reckoned it was probably an export brand. As light as it is it's far better, imo, than the Heineken slop served up on tap in the UK and parts of Europe.

  • By far the best cheap beer getting around I reckon.
Though I'm prone to spring the extra tenner and buy steamrails most of the time.

I'm half way through my second carton for the week, but yes, this is the everyday price at my BWS. OK… 1c cheaper.
