Phone Disk - Use iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch as Removable Storage

120
2H96A-QK7MX-8GEYK1V-ZR6S8

It provides root file access to your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch, effectively making it a removable storage device. ALL machines that will access extra data you put on your iDevice will need the software installed to get to the data on the iDevice.

Also makes things easier by not having to SSH to your iDevice to add/edit/remove files.

For the record there are a few always free options like iFunBox.

I get the feeling you'll get spammed or prompted to buy a new or more feature rich version for this program at some point.

      Hi All,

      I developed Phone Disk :-)

      For the record here:
Unlike the other programs, Phone Disk mounts the iPhone as a native disk in the file system which gives the user a lot more control over the device.

And with regards to getting spammed:
We don't do that. Additionally, even if we wanted to (which we don't), we don't ask for or have any of the e-mails of Phone Disk users (unless they've personally e-mailed our support address).

The only catch on this one is that people who install it after Dec. 1, 2010, will have to pay $10 to use it for longer than 14 days. If the program is installed before then, you can use it as long as you like.

      Cheers,

      Chris

      • Good to know, thanks Chris.

Yes you will likely receive an email when a new version is released but PhoneDisk works with iOS4 so it should work for a while regardless of any new version, no major iOS release on the horizon from Apple.

iFunBox looks good, how the hell haven't i seen this before? Although I use a Mac and iFunBox doesn't have a Mac install.

MacroPlant also have iPhone Explorer which is free - http://www.macroplant.com/iphoneexplorer/

Makes my computer (P4 2.6GHz w/3GB RAM) pretty clunky when phone connected. Installation also installs a filesystem driver named "Dokan".

Whilst the virtual drive is kind of cool, I can't see anything this can do that iFunBox can't do (which doesn't need any installation or "drivers").

The (FAIL) Uninstall leaves the TSR (PhoneDisk.exe) running in the tray, the main EXE inside a folder in Program files, and a couple of registry keys. Annoying!

ups. i also installed this yesterday.
well, i'll try ifunbox later then.
      yeah i noticed that dokan

  • Can this change file permission? ifunbox can not, so this is the only reason to switch.

Or you can just get a superior phone that can already do this!

    • Exactly.

On a nokia it is as simple as connecting the phone and choosing "mass storage"

Plus you get things like FM radio, unrestricted/free tethering and much, much more.
All for much less than the cost of an iphone

      iPhone, smartphone? Hardly.

      • sounds like your in the x-gen rather than the y
        ;)

        • Nope im a gen y :)

It didnt do anything other phones could do at the time (when it launched), can do less things than other phones today and is restricted like hell.

I cant stand the stupid iphone!

          • @anthony: When The iPhone launched it was an amazing step forward for phones… hardly any phones just had a big touchscreen and hardly any buttons know they all do… it was the best phone for web browsing for its time and it made all the nokias out at the time look really stupid…

I own an iphone and i find it to be an amazing device, can you use a nokia as a wireless game controller for your pc?
I agree it's restricted however im going to jailbreak it soon which makes it unrestricted also the touch screen is the best out there….

          • @anthony: also i already have unrestricted/free tethering on my iphone with a 1.5 gb data plan, unlimited texts, 160$ worth of calls for $39 Smart cap a month its the best plan out there imo (the virgin deals posted on ozbargain.)

  • Ehhhh i'm skeptical, it may work. (might try it in a virtual machine to be safe)

But after i installed it, it wanted to connect to the internet (sure might be safe and just for updates) but i've blocked it at the firewall then it just crashed..

    I think i'll pass.

    • it works ive tried it…
