Free Car Wash @ Clean Edge Car Wash - VIC Only (Carrum Downs)

340

Saw this on a road LED billboard on my drive home yesterday. Looks like the tunnel wash is still in the works as the sign said 'pre-register now for a free wash'.

However it may already be open as the email confirmation says
'Thanks for pre-registering for Tunnel Express. Please visit us to pick up your card pre-loaded with a free wash at 3 Levida Drive (cnr Lathams Road) Carrum Downs, VIC 3201'.

Their fb page is still showing the tunnel under construction 'coming January 17' but if anybody lives nearby it's worth sussing out the place as the wash is free and it may already be open. I have tried a tunnel wash system similar to this at Synergy Car Wash - located on Nepean Hwy, Cheltenham 3192 VIC, and my car came out sparkly clean, they really do clean the car unlike those poor quality brushes at BP, Coles servos which scratch the car.

IMO & Grand Wash Auto also use the same system, however there are only a few of these in VIC and other states and more & more are slowly popping up.

These tunnel washes use cloth material rather than those harsh heavy brushes you'd see at a servo car wash and has a jet wheel cleaner w/ tyre shine etc and a huge blower that dries the car once it's at the end of the tunnel. When people see these car washes they just assume it's the same as every other servo car wash, but little do they know how different it is ans how well it can clean the car under 3-4 mins w/o the customer leaving the car.

    Carrum Downs in title please.

  • Harsh brush or cloth material, car's still going to get scratched.

    • Microfiber does not leave scratches, it's actually better than a hand wash. I've seen people with Ferrari's, Audi R8', Bentley and other high end cars go through the tunnel at Grand Wash Auto. These guys use the same stuff - you just have to try it yourself to believe it…

      • Unlikely it's better than a handwash, at least a proper handwash with a microfibre mitt.

Having said that, it's much better than the traditional brush wash and 99% of cars already already have swirl marks already.

I took my car through to one of these car washes. Unfortunately it wasn't properly clean behind mirrors and where the boot meets the bumper bar. It did a 7/10 job, much better than nothing at all.

That reminds me I have to wash the cars but since it may rain this week. I'll sit on my ass and wait next weekend. Lol

        • Ah I see, what was the price of the wash? I'm guessing the quality varies in price, but usually if the tunnel is small the quality won't be that good. Theycneed to open long tunnels like ones they have in the US, they put through 6-7 cars at once and the best wash is priced at $7 max haha

        • @koalafied:

I think it was about $8-9

In the US you could get it handwashed for under $7!

      • I agree that microfiber doesn't leave scratches. However, microfiber is excellent at trapping embedded dirt, and the same cloth material is being used to clean your car, leaving behind scratches.

100% your car is still going to get scratched up.

  • The terms and conditions state this promotion finished on the 1st January 2017.

    • It is still valid, the road billboard only went up recently
