It appears that Target is currently having 20% off many LEGO products today. However not everything is available online, and many have very limited stock in store as well.

Don't forget this if it's available to you https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/285788 $20 off $100. If you do that also go through cash rewards for 2% of eBay as well.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LEGO-Technic-Drag-Racer-42050… is the same price on eBay, the others aren't. Worth buying something else to take advantage of the $20 off.

Worth checking Duplo as at least one set is the same price on eBay.

    https://www.target.com.au/p/lego-reg-duplo-reg-town-big-cons… $63.20

  • Great find Scotty, think the Porsche has been completely out since the last 20% off because it got shopped like crazy.

    • Bingo. Lots of the facebook lego buy/sell/swap groups are full of people selling 5-10 of them for $400 each new in box….

  • Gah! I'm spewing I missed out on the earlier Technic Porsche GT3 deals and I'm wondering if I'll ever see them again…

    • Head to MYER Doncaster (it's available in store only) and ask them to price match the Target offer.

      • Have you pricematched successful there?

        • +1

Politely declined saying it is below the purchased price. This has happened to me multiple times in Westfield parramatta.

        • @iamnew: most of my experiences are like that too, hence my question to @wzk

        • @feihong: I have successfully undertaken a price match for an iPad mini, though have not conducted a price match for Lego. I recently purchased a Lego Porsche set off gumtree for $350 FYI (12% off) or 30% RRP.

        • @wzk: Yep I find pricematching at Myer very hit and miss (way more miss than hit). I was told to piss off at Myer Chaddy to try to pricematch Officeworks for iPad Air 2 128gb WiFi $619. Was also told to go away @ Myer Melbourne, Chaddy, Doncaster and Knox when I try to pricematch Big W or Target for Porsche. I have only successfully pricematched twice for Lego Mini Cooper @ Myer Melbourne, and for Spiderman Bridge and Volcano Lair @ Myer Frankston.

  • Although some LEGOs are cheaper at Big W at the moment, they are either low in stock or sold out, but still worth trying to pricematch though.

Not that I really buy LEGO, but from an ozbargain point of view wouldn't most be better off buying the Lepin knockoffs instead for a fraction of the cost?
Essentially the same the thing but without the little logo branding on the blocks…

    • Lego has resale value (especially if in box)- Lepin does not.
High value sets (licensed ones like the Porsche, Star Wars classics) won't be had for less than $500+ in a year or two from now. Better to strike while the iron is hot.

      Essentially the same the thing

I wouldn't call Lepin Star Wars bricks are essentially the same thing as licensed Star Wars products from LEGO. There are people don't buy knock offs because the quality is nowhere near the original. There are also people who don't buy knock offs because they despise IP infringement.

      • I'm certainly no fan of those who rip off other brands, unless those brands have a bad reputation… LEGO seems to be good for the most part.. although their "Australia Tax" when buying from their website appears to be a big of a negative.

        • When you buy from the USA site in the US, the tax is automatically added to your cart when you checkout, based on your location (e.g. 8.1% in San Francisco) .

        • @feihong:
makes sense, thanks for clearing that up :)

    • I bought a Batmobile from Lepin. I was very surprised at how good the quality of the bricks were. But as good as they are you can definitely tell they're not Lego. Also, the instructions were awful and it arrived in a bunch of bags poorly sorted.

Why did I buy it? This particular Batmobile goes for $500 on eBay and that's if you can find it. The Lepin knockoff was $50.

If I had a spare $500 I'd buy the original. But I don't so I'm very content with my purchase.

      Just my experience.

  • As 20% off Lego is pretty standard nowadays.

    • +1

Yes, but it's what you buy each time that's critical.. Some may run out of stock next time (like Porsche this time), some may be retiring soon and not to be seen again (Like Obiwan interceptor 75315 during the pre Xmas sale, now all gone). Also, 20-30% off at Big W, Target and Kmart is not the same as Myer, DJ and Toysrus

      • +1

I've found DJs to be pretty good with price matches as long as there's stock. This combined with the 10% off gift cards from entertainment book makes it a bit cheaper. Only thing with Lego is that their range isn't as extensive as Myers.

        • Yep totally agree, DJ is also my preferred retailer.

  • I don't know how Target website work:
    https://www.target.com.au/c/toys/construction-toys/lego-tech…

It does not show Porsche Technic.

    • Because it's out of stock: https://www.target.com.au/p/lego-reg-technic-porsche-911-gt3…

At least on target, once the product is out of stock it won't show up on searches unless you google it.

Edit: I should clarify I meant out of stock in their online store but not at their physical stores, so it might still be worth going down to your nearest.

  • Does Target sell the Architecture range of Lego? I've never looked there for those sets. Anyone picked one up from target in the past?

    • you may find 1 or 2 if you're lucky but most stores wouldn't stock it i would imagine

      • Thought so, cheers mate.

  • if only they actually had some new legos for sale

  • Anyone tried getting a rain check on these from their local store? Thinking of the Porsche kit in particular….
