        • @stormii: thanks heaps!

        • @stormii: i watched the video but still didn't get a clear answer whether a Permanent Resident could get a fee concession.. Sent UTAS an email a week ago but still no reply.. may need to give UTAS a call as my last resort…

        • @yaditya: Asking them is a great idea - they may have a way.

        • @yaditya: Did you call in the end? Whats the verdict for non humanitarian PRs?

        • @lemonteh: yes. They said non humanitarian visa will exempt from paying the fees too even though we can't sumbit our tfn when filling in eCAF, so that's great news

      • did you get username and password? i havent got mine but the student advisor appointment email

        • The email and password came a few days after the acceptance.

    • AFAIK this is only eligible for Australian citizens. Read the HECS requirements.

      • There is an option to choose permanent humanitarian visa too in the eCAF form, which is eligible for fee concession, but not the permanent non-humanitarian visa

  • I completed the Tech for Healthy Living last semester and really enjoyed the course. I didn't do it for the fitbit (that was just a bonus) but out of personal interest for the topic and also curiosity for online studying. I found the content really good. Yes, you probably could get all that content and knowledge online but the fact that it was already curated for you and delivered in bite size articles and videos made learning very easy. You could say also that a lot of the content is common sense but there was a fair chunk of content and all very structured does indeed help raise awareness for healthy living the role tech plays. I am now considering enrolling in my second unit. If they do offer the opportunity to study more units for free, I'd definitely be on board with that!

  • UTAS is also on the Autodesk list, most of their current software is free for students to play with.

  • Legit question: Does the course requires the free Flex 2? Because I have Apple Watch already. I'm joining for the .edu address and for the health studies.

    • Teaching & assignment is based around using the Flex - for the common teaching experience.

      • Damn!

  • So I received the email saying they got the application and received login details. Do we get anything else confirming the course before it starts? Or we just wait until then?

  • Enrolled and filled out the eCaf form. Have my login details and am ready to go! This has actually fueled my desire for study so will probably follow up with some further online study afterwards.

Can anyone confirm if the edu.au address is for life even if we just complete this unit?

Haven't died yet, so can't confirm it will last my entire life - but for at least years as reported😯

  • Looks like we don't need to put TFN.

    Excerpt from email:

    Commonwealth Assistance Form (CAF/eCAF)

It is a legislative requirement that you complete a CAF or eCAF (electronic version) if you want to take up a Commonwealth supported place. If you use HECS-Help and defer your fees, you will need to include your Tax File Number (TFN). Even if you pay your fees up-front or have a full scholarship, you still need to complete a CAF but you don’t need to include your TFN.

Important: Failure to complete a CAF can result in the cancellation of your enrolment.

  • Just a reminder to everyone, this course starts next week…

  • Where do I complete the eCAF?

    • Don't worry - it's explained in the first week of the course. 2nd week they remind you. Must be lodged by Census Date.

All that matters now is you are enrolled - which can happen after the course starts.

Login to eStudent, pull down Commonwealth Assistance - click Add New, fill in form

But I'd wait for advice of teaching team to ensure you click the right boxes.

      • It's been two weeks and I have not received my login details after a couple of calls and emails. Anyone have the same problem?

        • +1

They can be slow. Took 4 weeks - assisting family member with application. I studied last year.

Applied on 6/1, got response that would hear within 14 days, never heard so emailed on 24/1, application processed on 30/1. They received Student Number & Password in email 2/2!

As you should be able to finalise enrollment & submit eCAF (takes minutes) up to Census date (Thursday March 23), there is still plenty of time.

Week 1 starts 27/2, but initial 3 weeks are to orient you to online study, a trial quiz (all are multiple choice, to introduce you to style of assessment - can retake), introducing the concepts like why is physical exercise important - through text & video, and Quiz1 (needs to be taken by Census Date, easy, necessary for Fitbit code). Most people could catch up quickly as all material is available after the teaching week.

        • I'm in the same boat but my application was accepted on the 19th of January so it has been over a month for me.

        • @Grasshoppper:
          Patience young Grasshoppper😀
          Best to contact them.

        • @Infidel:

I've contacted them a few times. They say things like 'it can take up to a few weeks', ignoring the fact that it has been nearly 6 since my application has been accepted. I'm trying to be patient, but sending out a username and password doesn't seem too difficult..

        • @Grasshoppper:
Took 4 weeks (rather than stated 2 weeks) from application accepted to password sent, as above.

Your later application may take longer to process. But enrollments can be accepted after start of classes. Nothing much happens (except first Quiz) before Census Date (March 23).

          Best of luck.
