It is listed in the expanded list.

    • Thank you for the heads up.
I'll keep looking as I could only find reference to the R8500 and not the D8500.

      • My bad there. I was looking at numbers only and not the letter prefixes.

man thats a lot of dollars for a modem/router

    • Looks like some kind of very very small business solution or low end rich man's man cave setup

  • $600 Netgear?

Expect to wait 1-2 years before they get basic functionality in the firmware working. Netgear does literally zero testing and just releases firmware full of bugs.

After the first 90 days you have to pay to contact Netgear's tech support. Which is horrible - they don't even understand what you write and just copy & paste scripts asking you irrelevant questions like your ISP speed.

    • Could not agree more! Build a router/modem>release to public to test>wait months for all feedback to filter in>release firmware that sort of addresses some of the issues>wait for feedback on the firmware>release another firmware>rinse and repeat>18 months later, lose interest in current model>release new model and the cycle starts again.
Routers/modems look impressive though (but that is about it)

How is this a deal again?

    • +1

If I was in the market for the X8 and was able to save $100 to $200, I would consider it a deal.

      • +1

Sorry what I meant to say is how is this a bargain?

No one in their right mind would go for something like this unless they needed to transfer 64K UUUFHD HOLO RAY 3D VR HOLO SCREEN UUDR GOAT PORN from their microwave to their toaster..

It is ridiculously over powered and pushing epeen status and is way overpriced for current needs for today's society

That is coming from someone who scored a R8000 for 1/3 price but second hand haha lol

I only need 8K 3D VR GOAT PORN

LOLZ "this router lets you surf the net, stream content, or play online more efficiently." i already do this perfectly on my N 10 year old router.

  • So this makes my internet 8x faster? Sign me up!

    • Yes, actually better, upstream VDSL is 16x faster than ADSL2+.

  • +2

Must be organic at that price.

    • At this price internet comes to you

  • Looking out for a nice discount on the X10! Link aggregation speeds - yum!

this model is overkill for the average home user and it's bloody expensive
you are better off getting one model down like the d7800 or d700 for a more reasonable price - you wont notice any difference in performance
