But given the very similar price I wonder how much better these really are than the IV hybrids? I have the hybrids and love them.

    • +1

Same here. I've always been unlucky when it comes to earphones but the hybrids are awesome.

  • +2

Six driver reference in title is misleading… these are 3 (2 Dynamic +1 Balanced) a side.

While there are technically six drivers pretty much all earphone driver counts are advertised per ear. The URL and description on the site also refer to it as a triple driver earphone.

    • +2

      Updated :)

    • Well one may also argue that headphones advertised as 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound are misleading too! :) But yes agree the original six driver title threw me off a little.

      • Agreed. The 0.1 means a subwoofer, and there is no subwoofer on your headphones as far as I know..

And 5.1 or 7.1 would mean one side has more drivers than the other, right?

  • +1

So this one is 8 dollars more than this one, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/283501. In plain English what does this get me more than that one?
    Don't know what drivers are/do.

    • +3

Drivers = speakers… so you get more. Think about home stereo or hifi speakers, they generally come with one or more woofers, mids and tweeters to reproduce sounds at different frequencies. So they cram different speakers into each tiny earphone.

      • +5

More speakers having to do less (only deliver certain frequencies) mean they can produce that frequency range more efficiently and therefore sound better.

        Think:
Earphones with 1 driver: Jack of all Trade, Master of None.
Earphones with 3 drivers: 3 Masters, doing a little bit of the job very well, then having time for a beer at the end of the day… Errr, you get the point :)

        • Awesome, makes sense now. Thanks both.

    • +3

In plain English what does this get me more than that one?

      "Pro".

    • The buttons are better on the hybrid pro compared with hybrid iv, easier to press and distinguish between buttons. Also no kevlar on the hybrid pro, its silicone which I think is better as it seems to be less prone to tangle compared with the kevlar.

  • Oops bought 5x wrong ones for Chrissy pressy. $22.95each should've been suspect. Missed the "Hybrid" Pro part

I do want to try these, but I have too many Xiaomi earphones already and the price isn't tempting enough.

    • Same. It looks like they upped the price a bit for this model too, so it seems this will be the going price for a while. Bring them down to $25 and I'll bite.

  • Cheers. I've been using my Piston 3s for the past 12 months. Thought i'd buy a new pair and try these out.

  • Any idea where do they ship from? Website says: "Free shippingtoAustralia via Air Parcel Register 7-25 business days "
Trying to calculate the number of days if we buy it.

    • +1

China. You're looking at 3-4 weeks.

    • +2

Def get the faster shipping from Banggood. ONly like an extra $4 per order or so.

    • I ordered a xiaomi powerbank from banggood and it took about 3 weeks. It is real though, which is good. I have bought a pair of fake Hybrid IVs before. They lasted about a week compared to the year from the real ones I had.

  • +1

I bought some of the Hybrids from China back on 1/11 and they have been apparently sitting in Australian customs since 13/11. I want to get these but I don't want to have to wait ages and then them probably not even arrive at all. Guess I'll just wait til they are available locally.

    • How do you know they've been in Customs that long?

I've ordered Xiaomi headphones twice and they both still haven't rocked up… maybe that's what happened to them.

      • +1

A combination of Singles Day and Christmas has caused a lot of delays in processing/customs.

        • Wow! That's crazy. But this guy said they'd been sitting in Australian customs, assuming that they'd been sent?

Do you happen to know how long the delay is?

        • @xanderf: They often sit in Aussie customs for no more than 2 weeks. I think he might have a lost in transit package.

      • There's a bunch of other people on here that ordered at the same time and all have the same issue. It's showing in tracking that it's held in customs from 13/11 for everyone

  • Thanks, ordered. Excited to compare them to the Tennmak Crazy Cello, I've listened to them a ton since I got them in the 11/11 sale and am seriously impressed with their single dynamic driver.

    • +1

how much were the Tennmaks during the 11/11 sale?

      • I got them for AU$62.27, I like them so much more than the Sennheiser Momentum In-Ears that I paid $150 for.

  • Sorry to hijack the post, but asking anyone with the Hybrid IV's - is it just me or are the tops very accentuated to the point where it begins to create a hissing noise? I have a pair of the Piston 3's and don't have this problem, so was wondering if anyone else experienced similar. Also don't know if the Piston 3's were more bass-orientated and as such the difference is accentuated more?

    • I never have the hissing noise problem. Infact, the high is really clear compared to poison 3. It's the very weak mid that gets to me, but I got used to it.

Could it be your download source? Or do you have equaliser on? I'll spend extra attention checking mine, just incase.

    • Few people on Headfi forum mentioned issues with treble being harsh.

Suggestion was to get a good seal(use alternate tips) and/or burn in.

  • Tempted
Anyone know where I can get piston 3's for decent price? (Lost my pair and ebay feels iffy for me atm) - are any of local sellers not selling fakes? (Decent markups….)

  • I wonder if these have the same issues I've had with the Hybrid IVs. Although the sound quality on the IVs is great for the price, they get all bent and curled up very quickly. Also, the nylon-like covering on the lower part of the cord has split in several places on mine, exposing the rubber cord inside. No wires are actually exposed and they still work fine but it's still annoying. I only mention this because a few other OzBargainers mentioned they had the same issues.

    • i have this issue. I have had to cut the mesh cover off coz i had lots of bends everywhere.

      • Oh really, did that work???

        • +1

It straightened it but offcourse u wont have the extra pull protection of the nylon mesh.

    • No bends, tears or anything. I do look after them with extra care though as they're my only pair, hence looking at this deal :)

  • Is this the second or third hybrid headphone that xiaomi has released? I thought there was already a pro version (pro in ears) of the first hybrid (hybrid iv), or were those two the same thing…

    • Hybrid IV, Hybrid Pro, Hybrid Pro HD. So this is the latest.

  • Will cashrewards pay up on this deal? Given the coupon code?

    • If you use a coupon code that is not listed on this site, rewards may not be payable

Give it a shot and see. BG might pay out and you'll get 4.80% back or they won't.

  • Dads been wanting my Hybrids for a while now. Time to upgrade and donate them to him I think

  • Ordered - Thanks. My existing Xiaomi Hybrid IV's are excellent, cant wait to hear these ones.

  • with the coupon it is US$26.79.. i can't get to $21?

  • Just want to verify, are this the same or different?

    • +1

      Predecessor.

      • Thanks~ Just received mine from everbuying two days ago, so must resist…

  • Cord is not braided on these unfortunately. I think they will tangle easily.

  • Edit: was supposed to reply to lostn ^^ regarding the cord not being braided.

Ahh that's not good, my hybrids are braided (first braided pair) and it's awesome compared to rubber/silicone that just sticks everywhere. I really hate it when sometimes tilting your head causes the earphones to fall out one ear due to the cord sticking to your shirt.

    • And also you get more headphonics when the silicone cords rub against each other. The braiding dampens those vibrations a bit.

    • If you're into the DIY scene you can always braid the cables yourself. Would only take 10-20 minutes with the proper materials (that's a very generous estimate).

      • With my free time availability and attention span no thanks.

Good idea though, never thought about such things before.

  • Do you know when this coupon expires?

    • +1

      31st of January I think.

  • +1

For reference re: shipping time. I ordered these on the 21st of Dec, they were posted on the 22nd and I received them on the 3rd of Jan. I opted for faster shipping for $4 extra.

  • +1

I went normal post and already received

  • +1

I can't get these ones below $44 AUD with the code.
    Anyone else seeing this?

    • Yes, me too :(

  • Price seems to have increased greatly in last 24 hours.

    • Looks like it's expired.

  • Looks like GearBest is selling for a better price (now) than BangGood
