  • Nice find OP! If only Target sells any other accessory that we don't already have (I got ours from Masters pricematching Dyson online sale @ 30% off, pricebeat by 10% plus 5% trade card discount.. That's still only 40.15% off).

Can you imagine if Masters is still around? We could potentially pricematch Target and get a whopping 57.3% off!

    • +2

you could have used a Wish egiftcard for further savings of 5-5.5%!

      • +1

No I did not forget that :D The reason why I did not include the comment about the Wish gift card is because, I can get 5% off as well for the Coles Myer gift cards which I can use @ Target, so for like-for-like comparison, I omitted the gift card bit.

        • +6

          true ozbargainer :)

      • Where do you get the Coles Wish egift card?

        • +2

You don't get them from Coles. :P

        • only if there were such a thing…coles wish egiftcard…

        • +2

          @aec:

          There is. Through here:

          https://cgu.presidentialcard.com.au/home/about/cgu

          Same deal, 5%

        • @tunzafun001: is it called "coles wish egiftcard"? i puchase my coles egiftcard from another website, but it is certainly not "coles WISH egiftcard".

        • +1

          @aec:

I think "Wish" is just Woolies. But yeah, sorry I though u meant u were looking for a 5% off Coles egift card.

        • @tunzafun001: Thanks for sharing that website. it s good to know :)

        • @tunzafun001:

Thanks! This looks like I need a CGU Insurance policy.

        • @usherer:
I took out a home policy, BPAY option at the end. Never paid, went through with it. But it gave me a presidential number to get the Coles egift cards. Pretty sure there are other ways to access presidential benefits aswell, like Bupa etc.

  • any accessories for dusting?

    • Up-tool has a soft brush, which is ideal for dusting (especially for the door frames and cornice as the name suggests). You can use it as a normal dusting tool, no issue.

  • Car cleaning kit does not fit all cordless models?

    • Nope. According to the description the car cleaning kit does not fit the cordless models.

      • +2

From my experience with V6 absolute, all those tools can be used.

        • OK. I only have an old DC29.

        • Does the car cleaning kit come with a flexible hose? I have the V6 absolute and want to grab this kit for cleaning the car, I was under the impression it came with the flexible hose, but cant see it listed on the page at all?

        • @Manusdei: Yes, it does. More details can be found here:
          http://shop.dyson.com.au/accessories/car-cleaning-kit-908909…

        • +2

@Manusdei: It does but this is not the kit you want for Cordless machines, there is a cordless tool kit from Dyson but from the looks of it Target does not sell.

        • @cortex21: Thanks, think I might go into a store nearby to confirm whats actually in it, cant seem to find enough info online on whats actually in the box, and what models it works with :S Even when searching for accessories on Dysons own website it comes up with none available for the Absolute.. strange?

        • +2

@Manusdei: Target staff won't have a clue most likely, in that kit on sale the 3 heads do fit but the tangle free will not spin as fast as it needs to on a cordless compared to when connected to a big vacuum. The hose is the uncertainty as I have never opened one, there is 2 hose types, one for cordless and one corded. This kit on sale is aimed for the corded and this one is the one for the V6 range Cordless Tool Kit.

        • @cortex21:
I have Dyson DC44 Animal, which my mom wants the tangle free head thing. So no dice here?

        • @nowlan: Yeah, unfortunately it won't spin as fast as it needs to be 100% efficient when connected to a cordless.

    • +1

To find out if accessories fit your vacuum cleaner model: http://www.dyson.co.uk/shop/vacuum-cleaners/accessories.aspx

      • Just to let you know to be careful as some models share the same model number between countries but they are actually different products sometimes so please take that into consideration.

    • It does. I have a V6 and I even use it on my 8 year old corded and it fits.

  • Does the mini tangle free turbine also collect sand and dirt on the carpets?

    • It is primarily for picking up hair with not tangles hence the name and where you sit and lie on, e.g couch, sofa, beds, car seats, etc. The tool you want is a turbine head if your main head is a flat head. What machine do you have?

    • From what I observed, the turbine is designed more around collecting hairs from surface without getting tangled, and doesn't have the 'penetrating' action for collecting sand and dust from the carpets.

  • anyone know whether the turbine head (it says it is compatible with DC29 and DC23) will work on my REALLY old DC19?
    i can't see any compatibility charts anywhere….

    • Contact dyson customer service just to be sure but I believe it does, there are restrictions to that head but I can't remember if it is the DC19 or DC23 that is incompatible. Did your machine come with the turbine head or flat head?

    • +1

      In the description…

"…Fits all models from DC19 onwards except DC24 and cordless models."

  • Do these all work with the new V8?

    • Although I have not tested them on V8 myself, I was told yes.

    • +1

Nope, V8 uses a new connection groove.

    • I don't believe any accessories for the V8 are available, yet. However, it does come boxed with a fair few attachments.

  • Wanted the soft brush dusting tool :(

    • Get the up-top tool.

  • Is the turbine head just the same as the regular head you get with the Animal cordless? Or is it better somehow?

    • No it is different and will not fit into any Cordless machines, only designed for certain corded machines.

      • I have a tangle-free turbine head and it fitted onto my V6 Absolute no issue at all.

        • Yes, it does fit but it will not spin as fast as it needs to, to be 100% efficient in its design.

  • Is the turbine head worth it over the standard flat head of the DC29?

    • +1

If you have more carpets than hard floor yes and especially the plushier the carpet as they do a better deeper cleaning in carpets than a flat head can.

      • Cheers, ordered!

  • are they compatible with v8 model?

    • +1

No, they are not, V8 has the new attachment groove shape.

      • Thanks! ✌🏾

  • Are there any attachments that make a V8 Absolute be as 'amazing' as they're advertised? Owned for about a month, purchased during a Good Guys deal. Assumed it would do an equivalent job to a 16+ year old corded Nilfisk and it does perform well but definitely not as well as an old-skool corded vac even with a very simple brushed head. Just can't pickup the fine 'cotton wool' type cat fur from rugs well enough. Looks clean but when you rub the pile with a toe or finger you quickly gather up enough fur to prove otherwise. Not completely unhappy with it as it does do a good job on hard surfaces but for the money (even at $200 off!) it's really nothing amazing for our needs as we will still need to drag the corded beast out of storage every month or so to do a proper clean. Oh well.

    • +2

There are no V8 attachments yet available for sale at this time. In terms of your cleaning, just to double check you are using the correct head for your carpets?
Also, the V8 although improved from the V6 range, they are still at the end of the day design and marketed as a spot cleaning vacuum and are not designed to replace a corded vacuum, they just have the power and performance of an up to mid range corded vacuum.

      • +1

Are you a sales rep Cortex?

Agreed, we knew they were still classed as a 'spot cleaner' but also knew they'd be more than capable of cleaning the entire house as it's so tiny. It's just a shame it can't do the carpets as well as we thought… but I blame the cats fur for that! Yes, 'mid-range corded' is exactly the equivalent I'd put it too. Definitely not worth the asking price IMO but hey we got $200 off so not all bad ;)

        • The correct title is Product Demonstrator but yes.

Are your carpets like extra plush or standard?
Yes if you have cats who shed a bucket amount compared to a normal standard volume could also be a factor.
Just to double check and please do not be insulted especially if you did not have a Demonstrator go through everything, you are using the turbine head on carpets and the fluffy head on hard floors yes?

        • @cortex21: The rugs are plush (ie. not flat pile) but pretty much standard, definitely not OTT thick or shaggy. The old Nilfisk cleaned them well with the bog standard head with two simple brush strips. Still took a bit of to'ing & fro'ing but the brushes balled the fur up then they were sucked away when they reached a certain size. Very low tech but worked well, just annoying to have to wheel around.

The cats are long-haired and have the softest fluffiest fur you could imagine so it's a big ask for any vacuum. We totally understand that but again at the asking price we expected better performance. They don't shed any more frequently than a regular cat, it's purely down to the fur length & type.

Nah, not insulted. We were going to take some fur in and mash it into the demo carpet but we didn't think it would prove much as it would be unlikely the carpet had the same type of pile anyway plus it's the light layers of fur over time that cause the biggest cleaning issues, not the obvious clumps. Pretty sure we're using the right heads for the purpose but I will double check that.

I find Dysons attitude to design about as frustrating as Apple. Why not make the mini Tangle-Free head fit the V8? Why continue to change stuff for the thin veil of 'improved design' when we all know it's purely to make more money. Nevertheless, I did just buy a mini Tangle-Free head from this Target sale and I plan to DIY a hose type adaptor to get it to work with the V8 :) It's exactly what we need so if Dyson aren't going to provide it (even at a crazy high price) then I'll make it myself! Might fail miserably too but we'll have to wait & see.

        • +2

@SteveAndBelle: On obviously a 3rd party view, it sounds like the volume of fur is the issue when working with the V8, everything has it's limit of course especially with a corded machine.

Does the struggle still apply when using max mode?

Yeah even then it is hard to replicate that kind of cleaning situation in store and I have nothing to use to try and do so when I demonstrate.
Thanks for understanding, everyone has their moments even myself despite repeating the same info for hours haha.
Fluffy head is the paint roller like head and the turbine is the more traditional looking turbine spinning head. It would make sense if you were introvertly using the fluffy head on carpets which would explain your problem but then surprised if the turbine head can't pick it up either.

The tangle free fits on the V6 models but like I have said above, it does not spin as fast as it needs to be 100% efficient in it's job.
It depends on how you also see things without going to a debate, Dyson Vs Apple is pretty much comparing Apple and Oranges, Dyson's Mission statement is different to Apples in the short explanation.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend especially if you are going to open any components in the machine as that will void the warranty.

        • +3

@cortex21: Cortex, you're a legend! I take EVERYTHING back. It was entirely USER ERROR and I'm happy to admit it! If I could delete/edit the above comments I would but I hope others will just read this admission of fault instead. Just got home and realised I've had the wrong head on all this time, what an idiot! Swapped heads and bingo, after only a few minutes vacuuming the large rug I managed to get half a canister of fluff & crap as seen here: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/67715/45111/dyson.jpg … and I only vacuumed that yesterday and it looked acceptably clean beforehand too!

So, looks like I'll be able to retire the good ol' Nilfisk afterall :) Another happy customer and more proof that the customer isn't always right :) Cheers for the advice. Still baffles me as to why they decided to change the fittings between models though. Hmmm. I'd love a mini Tangle Free head for the V8!

        • +2

@SteveAndBelle: Epic moments. Glad members helping each other to this extent. Few assertions /statements and this could have become a troll.
I love Dyson cordless with power turbine.
Keep up the good work guys.

        • @SteveAndBelle: I am glad to hear it was just that, trust me don't beat yourself up on it, many people I help around doesn't realise there's two heads for a reason, more common than you think. I would rather take that anyways then the machine not actually being good enough to be fair!

That is great! just do not overfill! lol

But yeah I am glad I could help!

If you ever play with the V6 connections and then go back to your V8 you will see!

Probably have to wait until V10 before tangle free becomes available for cordless properly.

    • +1

The V8 I got during the last sale absolutely destroys cat fur on rugs and carpet for me. Are you using the right attachment?
The amount of crap this thing was pulling out of the carpet compared to a wired unit was surprising to me.

EDIT: just to add I have standard carpets, not plush - though the rug is plush.

      • +2

Yep, yourself and Cortex were absolutely correct. See admission of fault above :) Amazing machine… when the idiot user puts the correct head on! Cheers.

        • +2

          hah awesome :)
Vacuuming will be fun for you for the next couple of rounds I guess :)

When I started using the V8 I was pulling up canisters of stuff & crap from the carpet, it was a pleasant surprising experience considering we always vacuumed regularly prior to this. It's a bloody good unit.

can't see my dog sitting still while I groom her using my Dyson!

    https://www.target.com.au/p/dyson-groom-tool/59059271

    • Train her! Then she will love it haha but yeah it's not for everyone's pets but some people can get their pet to understand the tool with patience and training eventually but of course each case differs.

      • she is so scared of the Dyson.. Every time i do the vacuuming, she runs in the other direction!!

        • +1

Haha oh yeah no doubt, my boss's giant (I believe Dane/rottweiler crossbreed, I'm bad with dog breeds lol) is scared of hers but with food training and after experiencing the combing sensation of the tool is similar to any pet brush it will stay put as long as it knows it is getting treats after lol

  • Does the turbine head $64 fit for my Dyson DC54?

    • Which DC54 do you have, because if your model has the turbine head, that head is a better and improved version of the one on sale here.

      • I'm also wondering this as well. My DC54 is the one with the orangy gold colour on top. Didnt come with the turbine head originally so will this fit?

        • +1

Oh if you have the DC54 Multi floor then yeah you can buy the turbine head if you wish to. Not 100% needed but yeah will do the job for more carpeted flooring.

      • My DC54 is orange copper gold colour with balls, didn't come with turbine head. Purchase around 2 years ago, should be same as the Dyson mentioned above

        • +1

As the answer above which I thought it would be then if you have more carpet floors and plushier than standard, it will do a better deeper cleaning job than the head you have but it is not 100% needed, so your call.

        • +1

          @cortex21:

          Thanks cortex, ordered 👍

      • Hi Cortex, don't laugh at me but i have 5 dysons, a v6 absolute, a dc44 animal, two dc54 animals plus a dc37. I bought the turbine head already but are you saying that the normal animal head is better?

        • +1

The turbine head would improve only the DC37 from the models you have. You can fit it on the DC54 but honestly, it does not need the turbine head you just bought. The head they come with is already an improved version only just does not rely on a motor power as much as the one you just bought.

  • would this work with dyson v6 animal ? not clear

    • Which tool are you interested in?

      • Dyson Turbine Head
        &
        Dyson Mini Tangle-Free Turbine Tool

        • No and no I am afraid, those particular tools are designed for the corded machines.

        • @cortex21:

ah that sucks, i wish v6 gets some decent accessories and half prices!

        • @Bargaingeek: Apart from the car kit, the rest will fit on the V6.

  • Thanks OP! Got a turbine head for my old DC23. That turbine head only lasts for 2 years :(

  • Any idea if the turbine head works for the DC58 animal? always find it so confusing as to what works with what with dyson!

I ended up with an extension wand for this unit so having a proper turbine head that works would really help.

    • No, the turbine head will not fit or work for your DC58.

Just be careful with that wand official or not, they were not designed to have one hence why they didn't come with one.

  • Its not clear, will the turbine head fitfor my 8 yrs old DC19??..

    • +2

Yeah I am not at work today so I can't check the side of the box but DC19, DC23 and DC29 were funny models that are excluded in certain tools.
If you want to buy it, do it just don't open it up if it says on the side that is not compatible and get full refund in store no worries, I only say this as 50% off accessories is rare and stock could be out of stock quick.

      • Thanks fot the response,

      • Hi cortex,

I got DC 54 , the original head comes with the machine got jammed in the wheels by hair. Is there any way I can dismantle the head and release the wheels?

Will this turbine head in target suit my dc54?

        • I am assuming you have the DC54 multi floor (Gold coloured) one where it has the automatic muscle head? If so, the wheels are tricky and customer service went through over the phone if I remember correctly but I also wasn't confidence myself at it or remember all the steps, I recommend to give them a call and they can help you over the phone.

As for the Turbine head, it will suit/benefit you more only if you have dominant Carpets over hard floors and that your carpets are slightly plusher than average.

  • Another does this head work with my DCXX post.

Anyone tried with a DC08. Surely they're all the same fitting right?

    Thanks in avance.

    • Which head are you interested in?

      • The turbine, I should have specified.

        • I believe it won't but not 100% sure, on the side of the box which I should really have memory by now says along the lines of suitable for models from DC19 onwards excluding DC2X and cordless models.

I am sorry I can't give a definite answer until the weekend but I suggest to get one as 50% off Dyson accessories is extremely rare and the stock will not last at this rate. Worst case your machine is not included in the side of the box compatibility and you just don't open it and get a full refund.

  • Nice! Going to use this with my dc20 it's old but hoping it works with these kits!

Got the car cleaning kit and the turbine head

    • +1

Just check the side of the box, if DC20 is excluded do not open and get a return no worries.

      • Yep sounds good! I've got target 1.2km away so easy for me :) looks like the car cleaning kit is sold out now
