Connoisseur Chocolate Obsession Ice Cream Tubs 1L $6.99 @ ALDI (Discontinued Flavour)

90

Anyone looking for the discontinued Connoisseur 1 Litre Ice Cream tub of the flavour "Chocolate Obsession" may find stock of them at your local Aldi stores. I have been chasing some through our local IGA in Woodvale WA for weeks, as they used to sell it. But I had been told that this flavour had been deleted from their range (again), and there was no stock left to order.
While out shopping today, we found that our local Aldi store in Joondalup WA have plenty of stock, and it is on at better than IGA's regular price (Normally sold at our IGA for around $9.80 a tub on full price weeks), selling at Aldi for $6.99.
Note that they do say that this is limited edition for them, so once all stock is gone, then that is it. The use by date of our 4 tubs we picked up (Could not get any more in my freezer) is end of 2018, so about two years use by date.
My daughter checked on her local Aldi too, in Ellenbrook WA, and she said they also had plenty of stock, less the six tubs she picked up.

I used a link to the "Bring back this ice cream" petition site, as it has the picture of it (It is not on the Aldi site). This petition is not mine, but I like the idea :-)

  • Not an absolute bargain

From my point of view (Been looking for months for any of this product at my local stores, and cannot find any stock left), it is a great bargain.

        it is a great bargain.

        Often < $5, this is not a bargain…

        • This flavour is a bargain

    half price at least

  • Discontinued product should sell at lower price, maybe starting at 50% off :)

I do like this flavor, though. Yummy, Connoisseur Chocolate Obsession.

No one pays more than $4.49 for Connoisseur ice cream.

    • Please tell me where you can get this flavour for that price.

      • my tastebud is happy with anything called chocolate, obsession or not it's gonna go away at the bottom of the tub

        • It all comes out in the same milk chocolate colour anyways.

  • Belgian Chocolate > Chocolate Obsession.
    There, I said it.

    • Indeed you have chiuy :-) But they are not the same except for the base flavour of Choc. The choc chips, and the cherry syrup running through the Obsession Ice Cream take Choc to another level for me. I may have to have another small bowl of it now :-)

70c / 100mL is not really a bargain.. it is pushing insanity for ice cream prices

Ice cream can get as low as 15c / 100mL on a good day

    Average is aboit 25c / 100mL

    Premium is maybe 40-45c / 100mL

    60c is pushing it

$1 or more is if it maybe a limited time offer or no stock elsewhere kind of bargain

$2 get some help son or seek a financial advisor after you buy a "small and cheap" 350mL $6 "espresso"

$10 you balling let's be friends you would make a good dumb friend

    Haha lol

Just my 0.2 cents haha lul

  • It would be a bargain if it is under $5, i think most ppl going to ALDI only buying very budget food, $6.99 is "premium" for a lot of aldi ice-cream shoppers (most ppl buy very cheap icecream)

    • @Yaren, I agree that "most people" just buy whatever is cheap and they would not care about the quality. But some people want quality at cheaper price than premium RRP. An example for me (At a tangent from Ice Cream) I have a HD TV that cost me $5000 on half price from $10000, that is a bargain to me, and I love the quality of my Pioneer import product. Others would just go into JB and buy the cheapest 60" TV they can find, and they don't notice the crap picture, the poor refresh rate etc. I am happy to pay a little extra (Or sometimes a lot extra when it comes to my theatre :-) ) to get something that I really want. I will pay more for Aussie made items too, each to their own.

BTW, I would not say that most of the stock at Aldi is budget quality anyway, they sell for a reasonable price with quality, and I think that the quality of a lot of their products are set higher than you would get from Woolies or Coles. Example there is their frozen sweet chilli chicken pieces that are Aldi branded, but are made for them by Inghams. They are still made from whole chicken pieces as you were able to get at Woolies and Coles a year or so ago in Ingham brand. Coles and Woolies now source the ingham sweet chili pieces with formed chicken (If that is what that grey elastic stuff inside the tasteless crumb) and we would not those to our dog to be Frank (Who is Frank :-) ), whereas Aldi's sweet chilli pieces are still whole chicken and for a decent price just under $4 (Not give away price, but around the same as when Coles and Woolies sell their formed chicken items when on sale price, at least you would enjoy the Aldi product). Sorry for the rant :-). I expect my old boss (jv) to give me a slap for this long winded reply, I have left myself wide open for a blast here :-)
