Not as good as combining $100 amex credit at HN but for those who didn't register it's not a bad price.
$80 off the mighty fetch tv, down to $319.

I am looking at the Android TV boxes, so how Fetch compares to them?
Which Android box in particular? I didn't know there was a PVR android box.
ok, I can now see the difference, another question: can you install Kodi in Fetch?
No you can't
Well if you don't need to record tv, get an android box, you can install the fetch tv app on it to watch your channels subscriptions (via fetch) on the app and the movies as well.
I have the Fetch Mighty and overall I would say that it's really good. But there is one major caveat from buying it direct rather than from Optus
Positives:
Negatives:
-if you buy outright then you can get Optus Sports on it ever. So no English Premier League. You need to buy through Optus for that
- It runs hot. Even when it's on standby. That's really annoying.
- It only comes with an optical output for audio. There is no av output. Furthermore, I bought a portable USB DAC to convert the optical output for my powered speakers but it doesn't work on HD channels for some reason. Fetch have investigated and found no issue when using a cinema/av amp to do the same thing so maybe it's just my DAC.
- The fast forward and rewind functionality isn't as responsive as a Fox box
Overall I'm glad I've got it but that it largely due to getting the English Premier League for free through Optus.
Did you mean if you buy outright you can NOT get Optus sports ever?
How about if you pay $5 per month for the mini. Can you use this box to watch EPL. Or do you have to use an official Optus fetch unit?
Yes, it's impossible to get. Optus preinstall it on their own boxes. I originally bought the mighty outright and then had to sell it and get one from Optus. Luckily they have me one free for a year
Re Audio Output the vast majority of people are going to be using HDMI
Can you fast forward/rewind at a reasonable speed? I am used to skipping forward on my current pvr but I know this can't do that.
Harvey Norman has it $1 cheaper. http://www.harveynorman.com.au/fetch-tv-mighty-pvr.html
If you're with Optus 85.00 plan or more then fetch MINI is free per month, otherwise 5.00 per month.
Excellent prices on both of these boxes.
Rumour is that Fetch will get the Amazon Prime Video app, and multiroom should be launching soon too (some info can be seen on the iiNet website, who are now selling the Mini):
Will probably need to get all boxes through the ISP to utilise multiroom.
Yeah that's the deal - if you get the Gen 2 or Mighty from Optus, you'll need an Optus Mini; if you buy a Mighty from JB or HN (retail), you will need a retail Mini.
Never knew this is worth so much.
You get them included with Optus internet plans and most people never use it.
You're confusing worth with cost :-P
Although we use our for its PVR, Catchup Tv, Netflix & dlna stream. Live tv, what's that?
lol i have been with optus over 10 years onto my third replacment box never use to watch it
kids just watch nick junior epl is not bad either but wouldnt go buying it outright though
at that price
You only get the Mighty for free on the highest optus plan. I don't see why you wouldn't use it.
Can you copy recorded files to a pc then edit to a new file?
Yep - you can copy recordings from non-Optus boxes as an unencrypted TS file:

just for clarification, i already have a valid Optus EPL account. if i buy the mighty or the fetch mini outright, there is no way to get the optus app on there?
No. Optus EPL is only available to boxes supplied by Optus.
Good deal for those with an unbreakable Tivo box that will eventually need replacing.
