No, but its definitely worth it for that price.
At the top end Intel has trumps.
Synethic benchmark is a quick & easy to compare, keeping in mind these are 'stock' so if you overclock a slightly lower CPU you can easily outgun a better CPU but that is already operating as well as it can:

The AMD CPU architecture can not keep up with Intel. This 6-core CPU is no better in performace than an overclocked i5-750. i5-750 CPU is only around $230 mark.
i bought this cpu for $375 at msy 3 weeks ago i say its a bargain. Most people forgot that not all 6 cores are used for most of the games out now. So it might be good in the future.
Generally less cores is better for games - dual core running at a faster speed is better than quad core at a slower speed. More cores come into play for mathematic/scientific type stuff.
I love when people say this; have you ever played bc2 on a dual core?
it's totally horrendous!Simply look at reviews; FPS nearly always favours faster clock speed over cores; there are only odd exceptions. You can't compare some rubbish old dual core with a top of the line i7 and say 'cores win!'.

Unsure how "less cores & higher clock is better for games" turns into "this thing is crap, nobody buy it". Talk about taking something completely out of context.
