      • How can you play before updating, it automatically updates any game with patches on my xb1

        • Im set to offline 98% the time.

Prices are great but good luck finding any stores with stock!
Went to three Big W's yesterday and there was no stock. Asked around but Big W's customer service is pretty bad. If its not on the racks, then we don't have it, was the general response.

    • Its school holidays, endless parents with kids. Ofcourse $10 games will last 10mins

      • +3

So parents are gonna buy r18 for kids??

        • +1

          Yes

        • +4

          @Diji1:

cant argue with that, there are stupid parents out there.

Id like to think the majority have common sense.

Asked around but Big W's customer service is pretty bad. If its not on the racks, then we don't have it, was the general response.

That seems simple and straight-forward rather than "pretty bad".

Sometimes there is stock out the back in the lock up cage. It takes a few moments to look it up on the PC and go grab it. Had success a few times, but during busy periods or if you get someone that doesn't care, they often wont bother.
You can try going back the next day and stock is replenished on the floor, or you get a different person who is willing to look.
Also asked for a bluray - do you have stock? "No" was the answer without looking it up. Found plenty on the shelves around the corner that I missed.

        • +14

I worked in Woolworths and Coles during university, stacking shelves. It was not uncommon for people to ask if we had any items in stock, and I helped them look on the shelves. If they weren't on the shelves, I'd advise that it wasn't in stock. Sometimes the customer then would ask me to check out back.

Many customers believed that we had a replica of the supermarket out the back of the supermarket. In reality we'd receive boxes loaded on pallets, sometimes in cages, all racked up next to eachother. To find a specific item in that was near impossible.

In my first year of that job, I did actually search out the back when asked, but it was impossible to find a specific item amongst hundreds of brown cardboard boxes. On the extremely rare case I actually found an item (probably once or twice over a couple of years), it usually involved moving several boxes around, climbing mountains of pallets etc. When I came back out, item in hand, the customer would simply say "thanks" and walk off. Pay off was not worth it.

After that, when asked to search out the back usually I would walk out the back, hang around for 2 minutes and come back out and inform the customer that I went out the back and it wasn't there.

So when you say "it takes a few moments to go grab it", I disagree.

        • Ah, well that's different.

I've found it to generally be true for my local BigW when they say "it's all on the shelves".

Twice I've had a guy volunteer to check the cupboards and all they had in there were big stacks of new big seller of the week. "Jurassic world" type stuff.

For old stock I get the feeling they just put it on the shelf as soon as there's a free spot. No old stock collecting dust in the cupboard.

        • @AlanHB: Heh, I've never asked them to but sometimes staff volunteer to go out the back with me.

        • @AlanHB:

Can you check out the back ? Fell over yesterday and I think I've pulled a muscle

        • @johndemonik: Sure! I need a smoke break anyway.

        • -2

@AlanHB: thanks for confirming the bad customer service and "thanks" not worth it at Big W You should honestly tell customers this next time or just ask for a surcharge and tips to check stock out back for them.

        • @wtfnodeal: Considering the luck and subsequent effort it takes to find a specific item in the back lot, a simple "thanks" would never be worth it.

Utter shock would do though, due to the rarity of it actually occurring, a recognition of this momentous occasion.

        • -2

@AlanHB: why don't you ask your store manager for bonus for finding stocks out back for your customers? Your manager will then ask you if this is part of customer service in your job description? Should you ask yourself if you are worth what you are paid for if not doing so?

        • +2

@wtfnodeal: That's a good idea! Perhaps I can negotiate some extra hours so I can search out back and still have enough time to complete my ordinary duties.

This appears to be a pretty sensitive issue for you so I'm sorry if this was hard to find out. Unfortunately I no longer work in supermarkets so cannot give you a tour of the back dock to illustrate how hard it is to find a single specific item out there.

However, with Christmas here I'm sure they're in need of extra staff and would love your help. Check out the back dock while you're there, find out how it's organised for yourself.

        • -1

@AlanHB: my friend used to work at "out back" sorting and receiving stocks at Big W. If it is a mess back there you should complain to your store manager instead of using "extra" time to look for stocks for your customers. If your store manager doesn't give a damn then you should just plain up front tell your customers that manager told you not to waste time look out back for stocks instead of pretending to look for stock at the back.

        • +1

@wtfnodeal: Cool - ask your mate how easy it is to find a single specific item.

As for pretending to look, it's only to make the customer happy. You go out back, they see you go out back, they're happy, you're happy. The problems only arise if you refuse to go out back. Pretending to look is the simplest way to fix the issue quickly.

Like I said above, many customers believed we had a replica of the store out the back. It's not like that mate.

        • -1

@AlanHB: how is customer going to be happy to walk out of the big W store empty handed and will continue to bother your next big W store colleagues to look for the stocks? The whole pretend looking for stocks at the back only makes your life easier at the expense of others. It not a fix but simply an act of selfishness.

        • @wtfnodeal: It's an unreasonable request. Basically as a worker you're faced with either:

          (a) Getting into a confrontation
          (b) Digging and scaling through boxes for 10 minutes, likely to find nothing
          (c) Pretending to look, end with same result as (b).

I'm sure you'd commit yourself to (b). I did it for a year and got over it.

Pretty sure we've both expressed our opinions on the matter.

        • @AlanHB: if your duty was only to sell stocks on shelves to customers so be it. why bother to waste yours and customer's 2 mins to pretend to look for stocks at the back? Let the store manager handles the complaints so the company knows where the problem is. It is the upper management's responsibility to find a real fix for it not yours.

        • @wtfnodeal: This conversation has already occurred. Bowing out now.

Best of luck with your shopping experiences.

Upvoted go for Wolfenstein alone, might play the Old Blood this weekend 👌🏻

  • says online only?

    • Scroll down slightly and you'll see the in store price and online price.

      • but no way to order in store/check stock?

        • Other than calling/visiting stores, no. Big W's online gaming/movies are outsourced to another company.

  • +3

Do any stores actually have them? I called up 4 stores and all were out. Two said they've been out since February as it's a discontinued item. Nice price but no dice.

  • +1

Workers in store are arguing that's its online only. Also site says same

    • Both listings clearly state "in store price" and "online price" down the page.

  • +1

Good luck finding any stock i dont think ive ever found stock from big w or target for that matter near me that have cheap old games in stock

  • None of both @ Craigieburn big w VIC

    • +1

      None anywhere haha.

  • +1

None of both @ highpoint big w VIC

  • +2

Rang bigw main line. No stock Auswide. Got EB to price match both so all good here

    • +3

Negging the deal because there's clearly no stock anywhere. And most people will not be able to get a price match (I tried two EBs with no luck).

      • +2

I think thats a fair call. Customer service did confirm it was gone auswide. If trying EB (or anywhere to price match) I usually ask a male attendant as the fems seem to go that extra mile to try and rob you of the match deal. Just speaking from a lot of experience, no need for the feminists to attack.

        • +1

yeah i agree had alot of problems with the female workers at ebgames they dont seem to know alot at my local

        • @nnolan: I bought my Xbox One from yesterday and she was very friendly/helpful

    • Nice im usually pretty lucky with ebgames price matching as long as i show them there the other retailers website they have never called to check for stock

  • Got both , thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP got 2 copies of Wolfenstein The New Order. They still had 2 copies of Wolfenstein The Old Blood for $15.00 as shown in this link https://www.bigw.com.au/brands/bethesda/

    Store location: Mirrabooka, WA

  • For Wolfenstein: The New Order, is anyone else seeing the online price of $26 on the page and not the in-store price of $7?

    • +1

Yes it appears it's been updated.

  • +1
