  • Not sure how a person goes about using this product.

    To the original poster, if your son is not tall enough to ride a pedal bike, how will he ride one with no pedals?

      The seat is adjustable so that the child's feet are touching the ground and the child then moves around by foot power. Quite similar to toddler ride ons but for older children, 2/3 - 5. This bike will develop their balance skills before moving onto a pedal bike.

      • ahh… that makes sense, thanks !

    The price is actually $59.90 in total, $49.95 + $9.95. I know, pedantic. :)

    • Thanks Carlenet, Price sorted !!!!!

  • Clandestino,

    Carlenet has answered this for me but if you still feel confused read the following please;

    Hence the name BALANCE BIKE….FLINTSTONE drive included upon opening :)

    These develop a childs balance before they move onto a pedal powered bike.

    A close friend bought one for his 2 year old and the balance skills he developed were impressive (the 2 year old that is).

    I have a triumph motorbike and Triumph released one of these for kids (almost identical) with a couple of "triumph" stickers for $299.00.

    I'll be buying these off Ebay and hey presto, my son will have his own wooden Speed Triple!!!!

    These are awesome. Aldi had some around Christmas time selling for around $60. We've had one doing the rounds of all the kiddies in the extended family for years and it's amazing how convenient it is - the kids can move faster than you can walk and don't get tired on longer walks. Also amazing how quickly the kids convert to using pedal bikes without training wheels.

    The only comment I have is that the versions with a hand brake are bit better (but more expensive). Also there are versions out there which have a snap-in pedal/chain mechanism, but are heavier.

  • I saw these wooden bikes when I was in the market, but I just don't like the idea of a wooden bike!

    They also only have a limited range of stepped seat height and no brakes.

    In the end I got one from eBay going by the name of "JD Bug". It is far superior to these wooden ones, as it is made of actual aluminium and comes with proper fat pneumatic tyres. It is also extremely lightweight, and has a back brake too. I paid $100 shipped a few years ago, but I think these days they are near this price. They look like a lot more like a motorbike too.
