Braun TS745A Texstyle 7 Steam Iron for $49 (after $50 Cashback) @ Myer ($21.16 with AmEx & Discounted Gift Cards) -UPDATE: $9.55

990

EDIT: Price is actually $9.55 for the TS745A if you only bought $100 in gift cards for the extra $10 and used $50 on the AMEX to split payment. The BRAUN cashback offsets the $50 on AMEX which leaves a remainder of $49 (cost $44.55) from the gift card. You'll get the $35 cashback from AMEX which brings the price down to $9.55. The TS725A is ~$8 profit.

This takes a little work but most Ozbargainers should have already taken advantage of the AMEX + Gift Card deal at Myer which gives you $160 credit for $115 spend, essentially a 28.125% saving on anything purchased.

To those who don't know, basically AMEX has an offer of $35 cashback for spending >=$150 at Myer. Further to that, Myer has an offer of $10 bonus gift card when purchasing a separate gift card of >=$100.

The TS745A and the TS725A are $99 and $79 respectively at Myer. My TS725A from the recent post got cancelled but I tried checking out on the Myer website and it seems to work. I personally just bought this in store so this could end up cheaper if anyone had 2x AMEX cards and got $320 worth of gift cards for $230 spend.

From here it's pretty straight forward. The TS745A would cost ~$71.16 which would equate to ~21.16 after applying for the $50 cashback. (TS725A comes in at <$7)

…and if anyone is lucky enough to convince a salesperson to stack the '$20 off for spending $100 or more' (I failed) then consider your bragging rights granted.

Tell me if my math's is wrong.

    "This takes a little work.."

    I stopped at this point.

  • hmm, I got the 725 at the last deal for about $29 and it wasn't this complicated ….. wouldn't mine the 745 cheap and give the 725 away as a present, still in the box …..

  • +13

I can't believe I'm seriously considering this, I bought the cashback iron from target a few months back. It's still in the box, which is not a surprise as I never iron. But the allure of saving ~$129 for this iron is just so tempting. The encyclopaedic set of steps required for this offer just adds to the thrill of th chase.

    Help.

    • +14

a flow chart would makes the steps clearer

  • bought this for around $90ish from Myer earlier in the year, pretty decent iron.. well, as far as my knowledge of irons/ironing goes. For $21.16 it's an absolute steal.

  • +4

So you reckon your maths on this deal has ironed out all the other bargains posted in the past month? :)

    • considering my shameful track record of deals posted (despite my best intentions), I say this should at least put me back in the good graces of the frugal gods…

        Newsflash: you're Ironman.

Now try lifting my hammer to see if you're worthy

        • +1

Dang, I was thinking of a pun for a good 30 mins while out at a dinner with friends like the antisocial I am and gave up.

          I am not worthy.

        • @hyper4ctive: did you at least explain the maths to further confuse your friends?

  • Decent buy for $49. Reviews on Amazon seem quite positive

  • So
Step 1-buy 150 dollar gift card with AMEX Myer online and get 150+10 aud . Amex will give you 35 dollars back . Therefore initial spend is 115 aud .
Step 2 - use the gift card to buy the iron box ? Spend 99 aud . 61 aud balance left in gift cards .
    Step 3 - claim cash back .

Please correct me if wrong .
    Thanks

  • Nothing is wrong with my current iron but this is so cheap! I could use it as a backup in 10 years when the other stops working

  • Guys, if you want to get the bonus $10 myer gc, pls NOTE the offer ends SUNDAY 11 DECEMBER 2016 — yes, tonight!! be quick

  • AMEX OFFER TERMS
    Excludes online gift card purchases.

    • +1

I've always got the cashback on gift cards

      • Must be new to amex

  • Darn, I just thought of a better way to maximize savings if this was a planned purchase.

Get $100 GC for the extra $10.
buy T725 for $79 with $50 on Amex to get $35 back and put the balance of $29 on GC (cost $26.37). Get cashback. Total = 8.63 profit.

    T745 would come to ~$9.55

So jealous I can't get an amex. +1 for effort from me.

Use code "TECH15" to receive $15 off $100 (will expire in 1 hour). You just need to have minimum $100 in your card from Electronics (add a random item and refund it later). You will get free delivery on orders $100+.

  • This deal led me down another path. NESPRESSO by Breville Inissia ($249) to ($219) Myer sale, with coupon code TECH15 ($204) purchased with Myer Voucher of $50 (via 10% off gift cards), dropping it by another $5 ($199) and Amex (Myer Cash Back of $35) bringing it to $163. Then Nespresso cash back of $40 took it to $123. A lot of effort, and not the cheapest ever seen, but okay none the less.

    • All those maths and still not the cheapest? Something is wrong here.

  • Both irons are out of stock :(

    • Are you sure? The 725 is priced at $139 now, but the 745 still goes in the bag (cart) at $99. I already grabbed one earlier so I wont go further but it doesnt say out of stock at all.

      • Even when I am logged out of the myer site I think it detects my local store as being out of stock….. I managed to buy it from their ebay store, it had to be delivered though, local pickup was not available for me.

  • Good deal! I did buy the 725 from the previous $29 deal and I still convinced myself to get this one. But I had bought Coles Myer group gift cards on the AMEX (spend 150 get 35 back) deal. Just discovered that I can't use the Coles Myer group gift card on Myer online, so I cancelled the plan of buying this one. Still a good deal for whoever got it or can get it!

  • Jeez my >15yr iron is dying, and just yesterday I was thinking about spending ~$200 on a steam press machine.

If I can find stock of this at local Myers, I'll stick to hand ironing the next few years. Thanks op in adv

If you're in Perth, there were a bunch in Karrinyup.

      • Thanks :) nah I'm in Melbourne, there are still a few at Chadstone.

  • The TS725A is back to $139.. no deal (on that model).

    • +1

Also I checked, you're basically paying $20 more for the blackness of the iron and 30g more of steam (150 v 180). Otherwise the 725 and 745 are the same (precision tip, auto shut off, material of the sole plate etc).

  • what is everyone adding to the cart to get free delivery ?

    • Someone mentioned to just add anything and get it refunded later.

    • Click n collect?

  • not worth the hassle to refund, dont have time to go there.

I was thinking their overpriced chocolates.

  • Thanks OP. Missed the last iron deal so this more than makes up for it.

Ended up buying 2 for $198. With the $100 total cashback and $35 Amex credit it will be two 745's for $63.

    • I have bought two TS745A TEXSTYLE 7 STEAM IRONs in one invoice. When I am entering for cashback, it is showing as $50. How to alter this amount to $100. what to do?? how did you do?

      • Haven't done it yet to be honest mate. I'll just try raising 2 cashbacks if that's what's happening.

  • Can I use multiple gift cards when I check out online?

    • Yes, multiple Myer gift cards.

  • Could you claim the cash back if this is bought from Myer's EBay store??

    http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV…

    • getting the error when trying to order it from their website in the checkout :/

      processing: "java.lang.NullPointerException".

      • Somehow home address was the issue :/
And don't try calling their online support. Hold the phone for 20 mins and hung up eventually. "your call is important to us" but…

  • Managed to snag the TS725A and claim cashback. Redemption, since my order from original post a couple of weeks back was cancelled. Thanks OP!
