  • Looks good at first glance, Toshiba's are fair tough.

    no hdmi???

  • +1

    no HDMI?

Still, makes a pretty good working laptop. It'd be better if it had Windows 7 upgrade though.

    • +2

      i prefer hardware (hdmi)over softwr (win7)
u can get almost any soft u want for free but no1 can drill a hole n put hdmi on ur laptop

  • What's the battery life?

    review

if it had hdmi i would get it

but too old, too big and too heavy on the juice

  • +1

i dunno how much better u can find for 500 bux tho!!

  • +2

yeah don't have much choice for $500… unless it's JB/HN sales and they are all Intel GMA…

  • good price. was the price $599 before? only thing is the cpu is old but yeah it's only 500 bux. good deal.

  • -2

good price.. but in a laptop i'd also want hdmi or dvi output

lol at it being vista with a possibility to downgrade to xp… says everything about the failure of vista =p

    • Vista failure?? Vista+sp2 will beat W7 every time unless eye candy is the most important thing in your life?

    • +5

And iPad can not work without a PC / Mac?

    • +12

      16GB?
      GG.
An Apple iPad is a novelty item, it's like a touchscreen netbook.
I think you're quite mad to want to get an Apple iPad to replace a notebook.

    • +5

An iPad? I hardly consider it a tablet, much less of a laptop alternative.

    • +4

LOL Voted down into oblivion with the rest of the Apple addicts… he he he

  • +5

    an ipad isn't a reasonable comparison… at all…

    • +5

      Surely he's trolling

  • +2

Would be the best value sub $500 notebook deal to date!! Thanks MLN.

  • +2

    whats the original price?

    answer: $850

  • Good price.. was looking for a similar laptop recently.

To get dedicated graphics on a dse/officeworks/jb laptop with similar processor would be about 650+.

Easily upgraded to Windows 7 - (especially if you are a student www.itsnotcheating.com.au)
and drivers seem to be easily available - http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/pro/…

Apart from lack of HDMI/DVI note that it has a lower resolution screen 1200x800 vs 1366x768

T6670 Processor is probably similar to T4X00 processors in terms of performance but also has virtualization technology (http://ark.intel.com/Compare.aspx?ids=37253,42109,). and better in performance then the Celerons (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/mid_range_cpus.html)

  • How would this be for game playing - i.e. for a teenager who plays world or warcraft?

    • It will play wow but the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470 will not play most of the newest games very well.

    • I bought this computer. It is almost overkill for WoW, and it plays the games I like fine. For example it can play L4D2 on medium settings. However, I wish I'd bought this one instead:
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/28383

For $30 more you can get a machine that has a 2x more powerful graphics card, meaning that you'd be able to play pretty much any game. Even Crysis, a game used to show off what powerful graphics cards can do, can be played on minimum settings, according to:
      http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-3650.883…

  • yeh you wouldn't throw crysis or far cry at it

  • Video: ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470 with 256MB + Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator GM45

Is this user-adjustable to provide better battery life (using integrated vs discrete)?
