Do Lenovo Laptops Still Have Issues with Spyware and Bloatware? Any Recommendations?

I ordered a Lenovo latop in the recent sales. I remember a while back there were reports of Lenovo shipping with some sort of spyware. And I've read on OzBargain more recently that they come with bloatware.

Is this still an issue?

If so, any recommendations as to what to do when my laptop arrives? Anything I should immediately de-install, or should I wipe and install a clean Windows 10 install?

Thanks in advance.

No spyware. Just the usual bloateare like the onekey optimiser. Usually all the shortcuts are on the desktop so you know what to uninstall.

Same here, there wasn't too much bloatware on my Lenovo (I did buy a business model though). I think all I uninstalled was some anti-virus and a lenovo support program. I kept onekey on because it seems to look after my battery. I don't know if onekey is actually useful, but it is fairly unobtrusive.

      • Yeah they're quite good with their business laptops. Most intrusive is the Lenovo Solutions Centre that downloads drivers and wants you to install other bloat.

No spyware…well…at least not that I know of as I've been using mine for more than 6 months. The only bloatware is the McAfee and Lenovo Companions. Only uninstalled McAfee as I prefer Kaspersky. I actually like Lenovo Companions so I can keep track of any updates for drivers/bios.

  • I don't see this as too much of an issue. When I get a new laptop, I just perform a fresh install of Windows and all is good.

windows 10 has the 'refresh windows' which reinstalls windows without any 3rd party bloatware
