Cheap and nasty. 1gb ram, and 1024*600 is a smeary mess at 10 inches

I'd take my chances with something from Gearbest etc before this.

Agreed. I got a Chewi Vi8 off AliExpress for ~$100 ($90 after cashback) and it's amazing. Intel CPU, Windows + Android, 2GB RAM/32GB storage… No point getting a nasty outdated tablet for $47 when a legitimately good tablet is only $90… Even if it is local stock.

Edit: usually is around ~$110-120 for a Vi8, but my point still stands - might as well spend extra and get something actually usable than spending less and getting junk.

No complaints with the Lenovo tab 3 I got (with 1GB RAM) for the little one to play with. $47 for tablet that will keep the kids quiet is worth its weight in gold as far as I'm concerned.

        • Lenovo products can't be compared to the rubbish quality of this one. It'll be as bad as the recent 10" one Aldi had for a similar price, terrible thing.

        • +1

          @logon: ah, I see

        • @logon: don't be too quick to praise Lenovo. I've owned the TAB 3. The first one, the battery didn't charge and had to return in after a couple week. The second one the charger port was loose. Going ok now with a different cable but the quality ain't there either. Sorry.

        • @Gavman:
I'm not saying the cheap Lenovo's are "good" but at least the screen and body on them are not as nasty as these random crappy ones.

        • @logon: it's also double the price. Yeh I'm not sure the screen is any better really or if it's built any better. They are all cheap Chinese build tablets. One has a brand ppl tend to trust and the other most people would have heard of

        • @Gavman:
It will be a worse screen, much worse than the Lenovo, thus my first comment..

        • +2

@logon: I wouldn't but it for myself. I wouldn't touch the Lenovo either. I got young kids that bug me to buy them a tablet. To get a $47 one they think its just as good as a $1000 iPad and it's like the best day of their lives. They chuck them around the room and they smash up quick but still work which is good enuf for me and I don't care

        • +1

          @Gavman:
          Your kids sound clever!
I think most of us would chuck it around the room if we had to use one…. LOL

        • @logon: just saying when ur 3 years old as long as it plays games and they can watch crap on it they love it.

        • @Gavman:
          Sure…
I had visions of them chucking the 10" one around, it'd be a scary thing to get hit by, the 7" would be far less lethal ;-)

        • @Gavman:
          With GPS?

        • LS, where did you get it?

        • @bbtlovebbt: Duno. Don't think so. Don't think it makes much difference in a cheap tablet for the kiddies

        • As stated by others, Lenovo is a reputable brand - I'd rank it up with Asus and what-not.
Edit: Despite a few negative cases mentioned above… But still - more reputable than neo.

Also 1GB of RAM isn't problematic at all, rather it's the CPU. The CPU in the Lenovo tablet is 2-3x faster in benchmarks than the neo fleks CPU. The neos CPU is a chipset that costs $4.

          Overall, you've assumed a $47 device is good because a $150+ device is… :P

  • 1280 x 800 screen on $47 tablet with android 6.0. Can't complain especially for the kiddies. Just chuck on a SNES and download heaps of games. Hours and hours of entertainment

Also when the thing gets smashed after a few weeks after they dropping it ull be glad u only spend $47 and not more.

    • If it were a 1280x800 screen it wouldn't be so bad, but it's only 1024x600 which is evil on a 10" device!
Edit: and almost as nasty on a 7" screen.

      • The 7" is. Look at the specs. Not sure about the 10" didn't really check.

        • HN always get their specs wrong, look at the cheap Lenovo 10" tabs they have on their website, they show 2GB ram but the devices only have 1GB. Same goes for the cheap Yoga tablet, shows wrong specs, typical of HN.

        • @logon: http://www.pendo.com.au/pendopad-7-quad-core-black-neot60m7b… shows the same specs. Would be inclined to believe so

        • @Gavman:
My initial post above was about the 10" one, and the 1024*600 specs are correct.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4239877/redir
I wasn't discussing the 7" one and had not checked it's details because no interest in it.
Edit: the first two comments in this thread were also about the 10" one, which is what I was commenting on.

        • @logon: fair Enuf. I agree the 10" wouldn't be a great screen and something for everyday use is spend more and get something better. But when ur wanting to spend the minimum on a tablet this 7" inch one is the best I've seen -for the price.

        • @Gavman:
Yep, I do agree that the 7" one would be less painful than the 10" one…

Don't mean to be rude, but if i took the advice of all the computer knowledgeable : ) people on this forum i would not have bought the cheap celeron dual core laptop that we have been using, no real limitations, for what we, and i guess most people, would use their laptops for. Lots of snobs around here, imo. ; )

    • Amen

    • What a lot of people want is iPad specs for Ali Express prices.

    • +2

They are identical. Just one has more storage. 16gb v 8gb. U can get one for $77 from TGG ebay today. I've own one. Ok cheap tablet. Plastic cheap build

      • Warts the max YouTube quality and can you play vainglory and war robots on it?

These cheap and nasty tablets have horrible screens. If you dont want your little kids to go blind, best to avoid them.

    • If u got kids ull understand after the first day the screen will be smashed. Even on a nice hd screen, a cracked screen looks just as shite only u just spent 10x more for it

      • i've got 3 little boys at home they know how to treat electronic items. Maybe it's just your kids that are clumsy?
You dont even need to spend 10x more to get a cheap IPS tablet.
i've learnt my lesson from cheap Pendopads last year. These Neos Flek ones seem to be in the same category.
        Never again!

        • my kids aren't clumsy. They just not training like dogs perhaps
Like ur kids are to not chuck their toys around the house. $200 tablets have the same crappy screens reso and same plastic junk build quality. I'd rather spend $40. But I t's ur money, u can spend it how u wish.

  • does the 2yrs statutory warranty applies to this ?

    • does the 2yrs statutory warranty applies to this ?

      No, definitely not.

There is NO SUCH THING as a "2 year statutory warranty"

(Oh, except for on Ozbargain, which is the only place I have ever seen it mentioned).

      • 2 yrs statutory warranty on all phones sold in Australia. Unless the tablet has phone support, probably not.

        • 2 yrs statutory warranty on all phones sold in Australia

LOL @ "2 year statutory warranty on all phones"

Please show us the "law" or whatever you think confirms your statement.

You know, something gazetted in State or Federal law would do. Or a publication from the ACCC, perhaps.

          Here you go:

          https://www.accc.gov.au/system/files/Warranties%20and%20refu…

Also, the fine print in the booklet that came with my Sony and Huawei phones also state it. I got my Huawei replaced after 19 months no questions asked (and that was Coles). Apple in accordance with section 54 have also declared 2 years, but you would probably get 3+ if a $45 Huawei gets 2 years.

But feel free to ignore everything and turf your phone if it breaks down in 13 months.

          https://www.accc.gov.au/system/files/Warranties%20and%20refu…

          LOL - Good one. Not.

That document that you linked to DOES NOT contain anything whatsoever about your mythical "2 yrs statutory warranty on all phones sold in Australia".

Come on - you made the statement, so PROVE IT.

  • +1

    Oh dear…

So obviously you can't grasp section 54 of the ACL. You are obviously also not happy with the physical evidence that I have physically returned a $45 phone well outside the generic 1 year global warranty terms without an issue.

So… I'm not going to copy every phone manufacturers warranty terms, but they do understand S54. Lets go with Apple and Samsung.

    http://www.apple.com/au/legal/statutory-warranty/

In case you just read the Apple global warranty (1 year) and not the AUSTRALIAN column.

"Without limiting consumers’ rights, Apple will provide its own remedies equivalent to those remedies in the consumer guarantee provisions of the Australian Consumer Law at any time within 24 months of the date of purchase. For the avoidance of doubt, Apple acknowledges that the Australian Consumer Law may provide for remedies beyond 24 months for a number of its products."

What is the minimum that Apple are indicating here? _______ feel free to fill in the blank.

    http://www.samsung.com/au/support/html/warrantyinformation/w… (Phones AND tablets…… 2 years).

But I'm guessing you are all still all cynical. Thinking this will never be enforced:

    https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/apple-australia-gives-…

So as pointed out above, Apple are a MINIMUM of 24 months, with acknowledgement that beyond 24 months is possible.

For the sake of fellow Ozbargainers, phones purchased in Australia have a minimum statutory warranty under the ACL of 2 years. Interestingly, the links above indicate that many tablets also have 2 years. At least I learnt something.

Take it on the chin ya Muppet and move on!

    • you are quoting manufactures warranties.

      nothing about statutory warranties.

only a court can decide on what a reasonable life of a product is.

what Apple and Samsung are doing are providing 2 years as a blanket statement to hope they cover the majority of cases.

But even they have said the ACL may extend past 2 years for their products, in which they will still comply.
