Online checkin is preferable to the stress of trying to make it to the front of the queue prior to the 45 minute cut off. Especially at 6am.
But its not preferable to the increased prices that they are now charging for checked luggage.
Some times the cut off is an hour on the 6am flight. My partner found this out a couple of weeks ago. They decided to close the gate early (60 minutes before) and hence my partner missed his plane. I've known of this happening with Virgin Blue as well.

BIG negative to the fact that 15kg luggage now costs $20, no choice of 20kg and that 25kg costs $50, and that the choice of 30kg has been removed. In addition, excess is $15 per kilo. If you pay for hand carry (7kg) and you bring too much, the 15kg airport check-in rate is a massive $55.
I've flown Tiger a couple of times and been happy but sorry Tiger you may have lost a customer for any flights where I need to bring luggage or may end up with any amount borderline of 7kg!
