I missed out on the Sennheiser HD 598 C for 99USD this afternoon (was too slow to decide to pull the trigger), are these comparable?

How do these compare to the Custom One Pros ?
These are semi open cans. Very good for headphone monitoring with very little colour. My pref of this series. I use them to edit video/audio esp when I don't want ambient noise isolation. Use others for casual music listening. The 598 Cs are closed back isolating.
I understand these are the most neutral of the DT series. I'm a bit of a bass head so I was leaning toward the 990's but I've heard they are rubbish compared to these. Will I be disappointed with the bass from these? I currently have ATH-AD700, MS1's and MDRV6.
Something a bit weird though…. Isn't the "premium" version supposed to be more silvery overall (cup arms in particular) with nameplates and protruding flanges.. Just doesn't look right, the regular "pro" type has a darker look like they have in the listing, or so I thought..
Any insight? AThese will require an amp won't they?
Most definitely. They might make sound through a PC or phone, but not enough to warrant the purchase. There's a 32ohm version of them that won't need an amp though.
Ok I'll admit I'm intrigued, I know BeyerDynamic have a gazillion models of headphones but what actually are these? The mpn number doesn't come up in either google search or a search on the BeyerDynamic website….

And they definitely don't match the usual look of the "premium special edition" DT 880 model..Looks like an all black version of the usual DT880. I personally think the classic colors are nicer.
I have a DT990. The audio cable is way too long. It's also thicker than usual. And it's been coiled into a disc instead of back and forth like most cables. It's a bulky ring and if you untie it, the permanent bends of the cable are loopy and it really bothers me. I wish they made the cable removable and replaceable so I can buy a shorter cable.
