  • wow great price for play 5 speakers

  • Good find OP.

  • Nice, better than the 15% off last time!

  • Where's the love for the CONNECT:AMP? These guys also stock it and it's $620.96 after the 10% discount: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-New-SONOS-CONNECT-AMP-ZoneP… Not as 'convenient' as the PLAY range however far more flexible as it connects to existing Amps and/or Speakers plus allows you to inject an analogue signal into the SONOS mesh so you can enjoy the crackle of the LP spinning in the Lounge Room across all your SONOS zones :)

Yeah that's super cheap for new stock

Edit: Careful, the Connect:AMP doesn't connect to other amps like the older ZP100 did. You need just the Connect to use you current Amp/AVR

    • +1

Thanks I'll add it in :)

      • Cheers.

Unfortunately this model of CONNECT:AMP (ZP-120) only has a Sub Out whereby the good old ZP-100 has the Line-In plus a Line-Out plus a Sub Out! Luckily all mine are the older ZP-100 :) Ultimate flexibility and still working perfectly to this day (most now 8+ years old!) either powering speakers or connected to other existing gear. Hands down SONOS has been one of my best ever investments.

  • been thinking of getting Sonos for a long time, this might be the time to pull the trigger

but the Yamaha NX-N500 is tempting…

    • I was at the same position choosing between Yamaha and Sonos. "Better sound quality less convenient" VS "still good sound quality and super convenient". I ended up chose Sonos playbar and sub combo. Never regretted at all. It's so easy to use I ended up playing music almost every day. I don't think I'll do that if I went for Yamaha. Later I added 2 play 1s in my kitchen and master bedroom and loving them as well.

  • Would I be better getting a receiver and good speakers for similar to play 5?

    • +1

Depends on your situation, what sources would you like to play from? Maybe a Connect:AMP and some speakers would work well.

If you are interested in multi room/whole home audio, then Sonos is a good choice.

    • Completely up to you. Going with a Play:5 is ultimate in convenience. Going for a receiver with decent speakers then maybe adding a SONOS 'CONNECT' at a later stage is the ultimate in flexibility both now and into the future if you ever decide to upscale your Amp/Speakers at a later stage. Keep in mind that if you don't already have SONOS in your life then you could also just add a very inexpensive Chromecast Audio to a Receiver & Speaker setup and basically have the same thing for far less cash.

    • At the moment I only have good computer speakers but doesn't turn itself off. The most important feature I want is a sleep timer function. Usually receivers have this function and so does the Sonos.

I want good quality sound but mostly using it to fall asleep, so won't need multi room audio.

      I guess I can go a Sonos 1 or 3.

How much sound quality difference is it between a Sonos 1 and Sonos 3?

      • +1

Sorry, only just saw this. Busy at work!

The Play:1 is surprisingly good for such a small device however the Play:3 can produce great sound at even higher volumes. I usually recommend to everyone to buy a couple of Play:1s first to see what they can do then buy more or other models at a later stage. The beauty of buying a PAIR of Play:1s is that you can use one speaker in two different rooms playing the same or different things (ie. true Multi-Zoning) OR you can set them up as a Left/Right stereo pair somewhere to get proper stereo imaging. The most flexible way to get into SONOS in my opinion.

        • I was thinking of just going Play 3 for future proofing and in case I want to move to a larger room. Probably go with that!

Prices have increased? Looking at Play:5 in particular.

    • That's so dirty.

    • +1

Argh you're right, dodgy. I'll update/expire/fix shortly. Thanks

    • Also Play 1. Now $10 more!!

    • How do we leave negative reviews.

    • +1

I'm just going to expire the whole deal, the Play:5 is still a good price but the others no longer as much, updating it would be misleading.

      • Was good find none the less!

      • I'm glad I got in just before the price rise! Thanks OP!

  • damn was about to pull the trigger

    • +3

Yeah I bought a Play:5 and was trying to decide about 2 Play:1s but with the price rise I'm not going to partly even just on principle!

      • Should leave neg review from that play 5 u bought hahaha
