    depends what size …… the smaller 256GB are always slower than the the 500GB+ sizes due to chips and bus width, I have both the 850 and the mx300 in a 6th gen I5 H170 chipset PC and can't tell the difference ….. MX300 is crucials TLC drive …. don't think it has encryption ……but then I don't encrypt anyway,

  keep an eye on the 1TB from amazon. It dropped to $250 USD for about half an hour. Might drop in price again on black friday
